I'm looking for an old (90s-00) Corolla or Civic for under 2k, in NYC, is this a feasible price? I have access to an auto garage, if that means anything, I've just started learning about all of this.

Typical offers on local craigslist

01-05 civic. More creature comforts than the previous generations and smaller than the newer ones. 2500-3k is the going rate for a good one. If you can't afford that just save for longer.

Make /osg/ Great Again

Even if /osg/ is still as great as ever.

How these cars perform is very well documented, but what about other stuff?

No codes, no fluid leaks, but it's obvious that the whistle rises with the throttle, especially when the engine hasn't warmed up yet.

How do I diagnose this? Faulty throttle body, vacuum leak?

Soup /o/
me and a friend are visiting the US next year and we need a car. Renting is too expensive so we would like to buy something outright, use it for about a month and then sell it at a loss (to get rid of it quick)

We have no problems finding and buying a car, what we're worried about is registering and insuring it.
We have friends that will let us use their US address, is that enough or are we fucked without proof of our own residence in the US?

From the research that I've done it sounds like it won't be too much of a problem to register the car, but I couldn't find much info on insuring it.
cheers.

Just get someone to register and insure it as if it was theirs and then borrow the car

How is renting too expensive? It can't be more expensive buying a decent car for 2500 bucks. Why not just Uber and ride a train.

Just bought this Roush axle back exhaust for my 2014 5.0, but the pipping end on one of the mufflers was bent. Any quick solutions to bend it back into place? I doubt a heat gun would be enough for stainless steel, I could be wrong though. Any advice would help

If it were stock, there's a pretty limited number of years they had the duck tail.

But it's probably not stock, so it could fall basically anywhere in the air-cooled era. The front would narrow it down more.

ITT we encourage the creation of OC, usually in the form of drawfaggotry or writefaggotry

Each year, boards across the site vote on who they want to take to the winter ball, and people make art (lewds) for the date.

Here you can post original content and art relating to the ball.
/pol/ asked us to the Winter Ball this time, and it's glorious.

Remember to be on the lookout for /x/ or /lgbt/ subverters.

I stupidly agreed to tow a trailer for a friend. He's out of town and is lending me his truck. He said it should be easy for me because I've got a CDL, but I only drive 53' trailers, I've never touched one of these little ones before.
How fucked am I?

Zero. It will be like a competition donut eater having to eat a single cheerio. Your biggest problem will be forgetting the trailer is there.

Yo, /o/, picked up an 85 MR2 about a month ago. Just had a couple cylinders stop firing, found out it was the dizzy cap. You think I need to replace the whole thing considering the wear, or could I be fine with just the cap?
10 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>16179823
You should always do a cap and rotor as a set.

If the car is new to you, I'd do igniter, rotor, cap, wires, and plugs, just to be on top of things. It's cheap anyways.
>>
>>16179831
Cool, sounds good. Looks like it's only gonna be like $25 for both... Was thinking more because parts jews.
>>
>>16179862
Distributor parts are cheap as hell unless they aren't made anymore.

Do ignitor, plugs, and wires too.

unless that alternator looking thing is actually a cleverly hidden supercharger set up

but to what purpose? and why such a small pulley?
>>
>>16179601
That looks like a stock size alt pulley. Doubt there's a supercharger with the alternator in the stock location.

Definitely has a sheet metal intake, can't tell what's going on with those hoses though?

can anyone help me out on making a list of awd/4wd vehicles that are n/a and diesel? all ive come up with so far are very early 90's ford f250's and chevy 2500's.
