The Fuero was actually a fantastic car, especially in its later years. It's constantly mocked for being used to make replicas but the V6 was actually quite quick. The 88 with the revised suspension could turn as well. The prototype of the second generation Fiero GT was outperforming the new Corvette on the track at a lower price and Chevy couldn't have that. So bye bye Fiero. Honestly it wasn't even that much of a risk to the Corvette because it attracted a completely different crowd.

The 200+ HP V6 engine didn't go to waste though. It was eventually released in 1991-1997 GM W-body cars under the RPO code LQ1. Oddly enough, this DOHC screamer was based on the Fiero's original 2.8L architecture.

They took styling cues from both the Trans Am and Corvette for their design. Honestly I think it looks better than either of the other two.

The base 4cyl engine proposed actually outputed 190hp, which would have destroyed the base MR2 SW20 and probably outperform the SC MR2 AW11.
