I'm considering a '91 RX-7 with good mileage (my personal dream car), but I wanted to ask a few questions:
Is it possible to get a hardshell top to replace the soft convertible one? I'm guessing for obvious reasons neither are at all safe really.
Is a rotary engine that unwieldy to deal with, even if its got low mileage and is taken very well care of by myself?
https://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/6015347879.html
This last one might be laughable... But in the near future, is it feasible to think that it might be possible to convert it to an electric engine for fun after the engine dies? Kinda exposing myself as a retard but I guess I might as well ask.
No. Find a hardtop or stick with a convertible. Not worth it and costs more than buying a hardtop
Rotaries are shit, but quite easy to fix and rebuild.
If you want to pay a fuckton for an electric drivetrain, then go for it.
>75,000 miles
It will easily do another 75k, another 100k if properly maintained.
>Is it possible to get a hardshell top to replace the soft convertible one?
The only hard top verts are one off custom jobs, so no.
>>16755234
How many figures am I looking at to do a custom job on it and make it hardtop down the road? Sad to hear that btw. but...
>>16755209
sounds awesome, I'd love to learn my way around a rotary
Are these worth the money? A used dealership doesn't have one for a car im interested in, should I pay for one?
>>16755152
Depends how much you pay the car.
>>16755152
No that's sketchy. A reputable dealer will have the report available. It's a small cost for the dealer and increases sellability a lot. If they don't the cars are probably shitboxes. In which case you should buy from a private seller.
>>16755322
This. They likely have reports for all of their cars, and just "don't" have them for the ones with major accidents reported.
The reports can be highly detailed or super vague. All will say # of owners, accidents reported, where from, service records, last odometer reading. Some service records can be detailed (head gaskets done, rotors, etc.) or vague (vehicle serviced, emissions).
So basically, look elsewhere. Don't pay for a Carfax report yourself.
Was Group B banned because Euros are pussies?
Yes.
Yes
seeing as how America and Asia had nothing to do with it sure why not
Group B is shit though

2001 Ford Zx2. 183722mi. $900. PO just did ball joints, tie rod ends and an alignment.
>>16754010
it's a car
if you know how to work a wrench then it should be a good time, if not well then I don't think that car will last much longer

>$900 for a car that appears to be working
Pretty good.
What cars look like BMW Series 1 Hatchback but can be purchased in USA?
bmw M
>>16753546
Dont they sell the 1 series in america?
>people are now paying $30k - $60k for trucks and this is considered totally normal

Are YOU implying that people paying what has been deemed fair market value for something makes them a moron rather than you?
Seriously considering getting this Honda Helix if it's in decent condition. Anybody know anything about these?

It's a scooter with a 250cc SOHC engine paired to a CVT, but the drivetrain is under stressed so it can run at its 75mph top speed until the tank runs dry
>see car in distance on shoulder with flat tire
>mfw it's always a Jeep
because no other car in the history of the world gets a flat tire
MAYBE IF JEEP DIDNT MAKE THE SHITTY TIRES THAT THEY PUT ON THEIR JEEPS THE JEEP WOULDN'T JEEP

So /o/ I was thinking about buying a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI from the 2004 - 2011 period (the mark 2 version)
Has someone had some experience with this car?
My major concern is reliability, I fear money pit machines
>>16751885
Get a twingo instead.
>>16751885
>1.6 TDCI
Don't go near it. Total money pit and a pig to work on
Get a petrol one if you want trouble free motoring
>>16751913
Actually I'm seeing around it isn't that good of an engine whereas the 1.8 TDCI seems to be better
>lease BMW on the cheap because of job
>car has 3 drive settings
>sport
>comfort
>eco pro
>use the eco pro setting for over a month
>mileage is worse then my old car
>start driving in comfort mode
>mileage gets better
>car is more responsive and speeds up faster at the stoplights
>all this with less fuel.
wtf?
why do car company's put in these eco modes when they are complete shit anyway?
You're driving it wrong.
>car is more responsive and speeds up faster at the stoplights
you were probably driving it like a less powerful car ie gunning the throttle and forcing it to kick down in Eco which removes any benefit
>>16751789
>>16751817
It was on eco mode tho. It's supposed to save fuel. Not my fault if it can't do that
Is the Golf R a good car or a meme? I live in Minnesota and kind of want one. Seems like a more luxurious alternative to a WRX.
If you just want AWD for the snow you should know that tires are far more important that drivetrain. Also the Golf R has the worst kind of AWD where it just feels FWD most of the time and occasionally sends power to the back.
>>16751647
Well it has a hatch while the WRX doesn't, but is the RS out of the price range? I don't think it has proper AWD and is heavily biased towards FWD if you're OK with that.
>>16751647
Just get snow tires for your current car
