I'd like to buy a car that I can use to start going to track days, but the only stipulation is that it has to be showroom new (insurance stuff). Any suggestions?

The BRZ, it's a great starting car for track use.

I need help /o/, pls, I replaced shifter cables and everythings fine except I cant find 3rd and 4th gears
>>16770510
It's a little like finding the clitoris.
>>16770510
>he doesnt have a gated shifter

Anon this is a Swazilandian ceiling fan manufacturing association, none of us have seen a clitoris in real life before
Hey guys, I've never posted here before, so hopefully I am doing this right.
Anyways, I will be buying a truck this week and could use some advise. I'm not too picky, but I plan on getting a 1995 to 2003 model, with 100k to 185k miles (lower the better of course). I'm trying to spend about $3k on it (pretty easy to find em here for that price) and about $1k on the maintenance and any problems it has.
I've already read through the posts here and couldn't find much on the Chevy S10. What's your opinion on the vehicle? What are some common problems I should look out for? Should I buy something else instead, and if so, what do you guys recommend? I'm looking for a small & cheap truck that will hopefully last 2-3 years (or more if I'm lucky).
Thanks for the help guys!
>>16769766
post your local craigslist. 3k is a shit budget.
S-10s have issues
So do all other small trucks, including toyota.
Best small truck ive ever had is a B2600i (before they were fords) but they are getting older.
Just pick whatever you think looks nice and deal with its issues.
>>16769766
Stay away from the Ecotec S10s. Thats about it m8. I had a 94 S10 and I miss it. V6 S10s are hektic.
Maybe this isn't the ideal age demographic to be asking, but has anyone else had issues with the neighbor's kids playing around your car(s)?
My townhome strip is layed out so there's a parking lot directly out front, and then a very large area of grass right behind that. Even though this ideal play area exists, those little shitstains still insist on kicking their ball around in the parking lot.
So this morning they were using the empty parking space between my car and someone's Ford Explorer as a goal net. I'm nervously peering out the window and then watch them boot the ball directly into the grill of this poor bastard's SUV...
The obvious solution is get a damn garage, but how do you keep from losing your fucking mind when this is not an option? I suspect that speaking to these kid's parents would be highly unproductive because
>muh special snowflake
>kids will be kids LOL
you already know what to do
it's time

Grab the ball and put a knife in it?
>>16769537
yes...grab the "ball" and put your "knife" in it
Is golf 4 a good first car?
I suck at parking so I think a smaller car would be a good choice in the city, also because I'd always drive alone.
sure if its got the diesel
the 1.8t breaks easily
>>16769460
The 2.slow would also be a solid option for reliability, though it's quite underpowered.
>>16769493
it's a golf, any engine is underpowered

No idea, I don't click any youtube links you keep posting.

Bruh clearly has money and he's gonna bitch about a 1000$ hood? like it sucks someone else broke your shit, but who gives a fuck, that's between those two. Take it to court if it's that much of an issue.

Fuck that bs, if I'm dropping the pan I'm retapping the hole for a larger plug.
If I wanted that quick drain feature I'd just use a fumoto valve after I fixed the threads.
>>16769236
from what i've seen in youtube videos, you don't have to drop the pan to install these.
i'd just like to know if i'm buying snake oil or not. the videos and reviews i've seen are pretty convincing, but it'd be nice to have /o/'s blessing
>>16769201
The hell is the point of this? Just some kind of replacement plug that is easy to use?
Maybe if quick lube places didn't torque them with an impact wrench, they'd stop having to fix them when they split like a toothpick.
I am buying my first pistol, I'm in the military and I use a SIG 229 DAK I am looking for something similar to that gun without the double trigger in the $500 price range
wrong board
ls1, will cost you $500 and an afternoon

Is it true that phrase "objects in the mirror are closer than they appear" is engraved on side mirrors of every american car?
You americans are stupid if so. What kind of an idiot cannot figure out how to use a mirror?
>>16769051
it's about lawsuits more than anything else
It's a prevention measure for burger lawsuits
>>16769051
Wing mirrors are convex. THAT is why objects in mirror are closer than they appear; they're smaller but you can see more in the mirror.
>>16769124
That too.
I miss the 'objects in mirror are losing' stickers my old car had.
Morning gentlemen,
Have a question for you.
As I was intending to get a smog the other day, my car battery had died. Got it replaced, but apparently my emission data had been wiped from the system. I was told I would have to drive it around "a bit" before the data could be generated again so I can actually get my smog... but how far is "a bit" exactly? 50 miles? 100 miles? 200 miles?
Thanks.
The fact that they can make you do that is disgusting
10 miles or so.
>>16768990
Do you have any idea how a self adjusting ECU works?
>>16768998
he's talking about the smog test retard
Is anyone else annoyed by these car commercials where a dangerously inattentive drive has their life saved by safety features?
What kind of message is this sending?
>>16768899
>What kind of message is this sending?
"We know you're too fucking stupid to drive so we developed this system that'll try to make up for it so you don't have to change your dangerous ways, now give us money"
>>16768909
i was thinking the same, also "you dont have to pay attention, you have a safety net"
While it is stupid and ridiculous drivers have to depend on the car's computer to stop for them, for me it's a reassurance that if I fall asleep behind the wheel or get massively distracted I can at least minimize the damage of hitting the car in front of me. I know it's safety feature, not a safety crutch.
Hey /o/, friend insists their tire is fine and they don't need to replace it. Are they being genuinely retarded?
>Pic related
>>16768735
it's still driveable
just don't go racing with such tyres
According to ford that is "operating within designed specifications" ,
My stock tires looked like that all around, fought with ford on it for a few months before finally just buying some grade Es for loads abd putting stock in shed as backup.
>>16768749
>>16768764
I should note, that it's the front right tire, if that matters at all.
Like my Ferrari guys?
No.
Christ that's clearly an MR2 with a bodykit try harder
How much did it retail for?
