So /o/ I was thinking about buying a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI from the 2004 - 2011 period (the mark 2 version)
Has someone had some experience with this car?
My major concern is reliability, I fear money pit machines

Get a twingo instead.

>1.6 TDCI
Don't go near it. Total money pit and a pig to work on
Get a petrol one if you want trouble free motoring

Actually I'm seeing around it isn't that good of an engine whereas the 1.8 TDCI seems to be better

Get mark 3 SE, I'm at 50k miles and not a single problem, plus the 2.0 duratec has got breddy gud bottom end power, making it a fun rice car, plus the 2013 has got a KBB price of like 8k

The 1.8 is older and less refined, but more reliable. If you really want to play it safe, get a petrol. They don't go for the premiums that diesel ones do, and have a lot less common issues so that negates the fuel savings long term.

In Italy by law diesel has to cost less than petrol, that's why more that 60% of cars registered here are diesels.

What about the price of the car itself? In the UK diesel cars generally go for a premium over petrol ones
That is a really weird law, I didn't know that
