Gen 3 is great. Only thing of note on the Gen 4 is the different grip. Other differences are minor.

HK is good but Glock is the better handgun.

Just buy a Glock like every other actual operator in the world. Gen 4's shoot a little softer and can be made to fit the hand better if need be.

if you find a good price on a gen3 pick it up
if its between a new gen 3 and gen 4 just get the 4 the price difference is minimal and you get an extra mag compared to the gen 3

It's good for different roles, if you have one you can land anywhere. You can stage other landing forces thru it's resources. It can fly ASW helos.
