Can we get a backpack gun thread going? I'm wanting to get one to have a lightweight hunting option for backpacking/innawoods, was thinking about pic related. What's the word on the Little Badger? Is there a better option? I was also considering a carbine 10/22.

Literally the opposite of what you want for hunting small game.
Can someone explain the point of a backpack gun to me?
If you expect danger (bear, moose, man, etc), you should have more than 22 or 9mm.
If you are backpacking, presumably you should have packed food.
If you have it to hunt with in the case of an emergency, your priorities are fucked. That space/weight could be better used.
If you are anal about weight, then why not just bring a pistol?
If you need a rifle, you're fucking yourself over size/weight restraints.
Am I missing something?
It seems like a skeletonized buffer tube-less DI ar15 or ar10 would be the perfect gun, but the size/weight 'requirements' would get them scoffed at.
Does this count?

some people do it for fun, light rifle and some soda cans into the woods

It's just a light weight small-game hunting rifle. And some people like to go on trips and purposely not bring enough food and hunt to sustain themselves.
>>31051023
Try the Chiappa M6. Or better still find a real M6 scout
>>31051023
I'd like that gun so much more if it folded flat(er) and not into a triangle.
>>31051418
If you were going to specifically to hunt wouldn't you want a "normal" gun instead of some bastardized folding monstrosity?
>>31051457
>Folder that can fire 12 different calibers.
I fucking love it, how have I not heard of this?
>>31051490
It is kind of cool, but the more I look at it the less I like it. The interchangeable caliber thing looks like a bunch of monkey shit to deal with.
Might be a neat novelty. Not sure if I'd want it as my only gun, though.
>>31051560
Yeah, I love it as a novelty, but I can't think of a situation where a single shot 9mm or .45 or something could come in handy anyway.

AR-7 survival rifle floats in water, is a good one to look into
Its a meh gun, but its great for the purpose it serves, it stores all its parts in the stock, waterproof
https://www.henryrifles.com/rifles/u-s-survival-ar-7/
When I go out for my bi annual get away from all of it and relax trip, I can't take three weeks of food in a one hundred liter pack.
I can take three weeks of flower, yeast, beans and dried veggies but I need to hunt small game for meat.
I use a folding bow because I like the challenge.

kek
ARX 100,take the barrel out, fold the stock and it fits into any backpack.
>>31051479
I guess it depends largely where you are if theirs not a lot of danger of big game around you why lug the weigh aroundt and just focus on small game
>>31051119
>>31051157
I like the kel tec because it takes glock mags the only thing that sucks is you either get a good one or a shitty one thats way off
>>31052688
Henry's are dildos though, they jam regularly, the polymer barrel coating deforms under the barrel nut and the front site is too easy to bump out of position so the zero wanders. I've bought several over the years in the hope of finding one good one but have yet to find it.
>>31051023
If the 10/22 catches your eye, look at the Ruger Charger as well. Basically a 10/22 pistol with an AR style grip. Even came in a takedown version
>>31052747
That sounds like fun
>>31051023
Su16 folds decently if you want .223
Kel tec sub2k (already mentioned)
ARs pop down into a small package if you separate the upper and lower
10/22 takedown
I'm gonna say m&p 15-22. It fits into a backpack pretty easily (again have to disassemble a bit), but allows for a lot of customization. If you already have an ar, just buy a .22 conversion kit and pop out the upper and lower.
>>31052971
Also if you go with a 10/22, there's this.
(I cannot vouch for its function, but if anyone here tried it, post results)
My home built single shot folding .22lr. Aluminum block carved into a receiver. Cheap 4x scope which holds zero nicely. 13 K baffles in the tube ahead of the 4" Winchester barrel. Not the tightest groups, but decent enough.
