Hey /k. I'm having trouble identifying this pistol from my great grandfather. He served in World War II as a ground troop. I believe it's a 1939 m1911a1 but I'm not good at identifying weapons so I'd figure I'd ask you guys. Thanks for the help.

Get a photo of the other side.
Nope. That's a very early gun, probably made before 1920. Have you ran the serial number?
What up /k/, I have been browsing here for a couple of years. I'll admit it, I was underage, but now I am 18 and am looking for my first guns. Unfortunately, I live in Comifornia and so I cant get much, but I am still looking for something. What should I get?
>TLDR What guns should a 18 year old get

>What should I get?
What you should get?
You should get the fuck out noguns
It seems like you might want to cultivate an interest in cowboy guns, rather than get a neutered AR.
>>31767388
>Maverick 88
>SKS
>Nugget (really, any old milsurp will do)
That's all I've got.

Fuck off faggot.
My mother who is 64 years old asked me today to look around for a handgun for her to keep in her nightstand(maybe purse carry but this is optional). She's about 5'5 and maybe 120lbs she won't conceded and get a long gun so handguns only. I was thinking a smaller .38 special or a poly 9mm something with light recoil but can still get the job done if need be preferably sub $450 and a decent after market. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Note I'd prefer something with a hammer and a D/S trigger.
S&w model 10 or 64
Make sure you take to the range
>>31767246
Best solution is to not pick something for her. Take her to a LGS and let her personally pick out something she's comfortable with.
Whether or not she can handle the recoil won't matter if she can't even rack the slide, cock the hammer, or pull the heavy DA trigger.
Maybe a Bersa Thunder .380 Plus?
It's small (between a Glock 26 and 43 in size from what I remember), has 15+1 rounds of .380, is inexpensive (can be bought for $350ish new and less than that used), is double/single action, has a better sight picture than most small guns, and is lightweight (20 something ounces) despite having an all-metal frame.
Downsides are that it only comes with one mag and that it will need periodic maintenance that your mother might not be able to do by herself due to it being a semi-auto.
Just came back from the range today.
Looking my cases I noticed picture related.
What does this mean??? My .45 loads a too hot?
Flat primers and primer flow are indeed signs that you loads are too hot
>>31767237
Shiiiiiet!
Gonna undo some rounds later.
That isn't that bad... What primers are you using?
At what age did you realize the the US military is not worth supporting anymore?
for me it was after I got out of the army, then they started letting women/trannies into combat, and started supporting gay marriage.
>tfw you realize that Russia doesn't have gay marriage or allow fags to serve let alone get married.
The US army is joke
>strongest military in the world

Age 24, first deployment. Easd at 26 in 2011.
Stop crying Army faggot, and use your own branches homosexuals.
So... we've had problems.
My parents own a good few acres of Wisconsin woods, and for the past few years there've been trespassers.
Over the years, we've heard close gunshots. Called with a megaphone to get the fuck out, but what are you gonna do?
Two years ago, we surveyed off our territory, and put up DO NOT ENTER signs. They ended up being torn down and shot up.
Last year, we went around and found two deer stands. Not on the edge of our property, but in the middle in two places. We took them down.
This year, we left a bucket full of screws next to some lumber on a deer stand we were making. Today I found out someone stole them.
So what the fuck? What the hell can I do?
I'm thinking of putting up trail cams that take a large extended ladder to reach (otherwise they'd just get stolen). But then what? Confront an armed fucker in the woods with my draco?
Lord knows the cops won't do anything, nor do I want them stalking my land, seeing my "not building code-approve" structures, or anything like that.
I'm not sure what to do...
You're asking /k/ so I'm not really sure what response you're looking for that doesn't involve breaking lots and lots of laws
>>31767172
Next time you find a deer stand, leave it up with a glue trap on the seat. Check on it during peak times periodically, eventually one of the poachers will be superglued to the chair. Shoot him. Bury him on your property in an out-of-the-way location, then dispose of the stand.

You're pretty much on the edge of the average /k/unts dream of hunting the most dangerous game. Might as well go for it.
I keep having arguments with redditors on r/combatfootage about T.O.W. Missile 'Tracking'. Regarding the red 'glow' we see on the back of a T.O.W. (specifically BGM-71 or MILAN) missile in flight; is that red light a 'flare' used to optically track the missile or is it just glow from the rocket motor?
Two Examples:

The exhausts of a TOW are on the sides. The wire spools out the back and there is a flare there too. It is to help the gunner track the missile if I remember correctly.
>>31767142
Tube launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire Guided (TOW)
Flare or other beacon source to watch where it's going.

Showing the side exhaust ports.
There is a launch motor rearward, but it should be mostly expended once it leaves the tube.
I read somewhere that the Panther tank was the best medium tank in the world until the early-50s. Medium tanks in that period include:
-M26 Pershing
-M46/47/48 Patton
-T--34-85
-T-44
-T-54/55
-Comet
-Centurion
(I omitted some tanks that are clearly inferior, but probably forgot some contemporaries)
With that list in mind, i'm not sure if the claim is entirely true. The Pattons, Chieftain, and T-54/55 were excellent tanks, and I'm not sure if the Panther could compete.
What does /k/ think? Was it even the greatest medium tank in WWII?
I think it broke down way too much.
Sure it had good armor, but it was slow as fuck too.
Germany should've stuck with mass producing Panzer 4s
>>31767133
It definitely wasn't, but it sure does look sexy.
Something about the tracks just look really nice.
>>31767133
I respect the Panther. Personally I believe that Germany should've focused solely on the production of this tank.
This is one of the few examples where the Germans showed that they knew that slanting the armour had benefits, as opposed to the 90 degree autism the Tiger had.
Panther = best tank
Tiger = a shit
>A 59-year-old Overland Park man was charged Thursday with shooting another man in the leg after taking a gun away from the victim.
>Ricky Paul Smith was charged in Johnson County District Court with aggravated battery. He also was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pointing the gun at another man.
>Overland Park police said the incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near 80th Street and Overland Park Drive.
>Police said Smith was allegedly upset about another man carrying a concealed weapon. He took the gun away from the man, pointed it at him and another man, and shot the victim in the leg, according to the allegations.
>The victim was taken to a hospital with with injuries that were not life-threatening.
>Bond for Smith was set at $10,000.

What was he ccing?
A beretta?
>>31767127
He should be charged with attempted murder.

So /k/, I really want an M1SB. Should I start the paperwork journey now? Does anyone have any reason why I should save my money and spend it on something else?
>>31767026
You should get a BAR instead.
>>31767026
>a semi-auto tommy gun
Why even bother at that point
>>31768038
this.
If you really want one, just save up $25k-$30k for the real deal.
Anyone know if these bad boys are legal?
Im asking in Massachusetts.
>>31766988
flails are stupid.
>>31766988
Are you really asking if a knot is illegal anon what a kekold you are
I don't get it. Can this be used as a weapon?
>tactically pointing my ar in the house
>point outside at car
>realize neighbor is inside car
>my red dot is right on her head
>there is a magazine in the gun
>my finger is on the trigger and safety is off
>mfw
>>31766910
Tards like you are why bitches like your neighbor want to ban guns
>>31766920
I dont deserve to own guns. I know.

go back in time and introduce the minie ball(min-yay) to American Continental Army. How much does this change the Revolutionary War?
>>31766785
About tree fiddy
>>31766785
Very little.
A conical bullet isn't enough, it needs to be fired from a rifle to really make a difference.
>>31766785
Not much.
Guys with rifles get a benefit
Everyone else is still going to be using patch and ball.
So we have seen that women suck in offensive roles but are they worthwhile as a protection force?
Most bodyguards hands are tied anyways where they aren't allowed to use deadly force (what's the point), so a woman wouldn't need to learn too many complicated skills not related to disarming a threat or taking a round for their client.
>>31766768
Women are better at de-escalating a situation without violence, they are also useful for searching other women. No reason to have more than one on the team though, let the men take care of the rough stuff if need be.
>>31766768
>>31766802
Bullshit. Female cops end up shooting people proportionally more because they aren't physically capable of shutting down an encounter with non-lethal physical measures or even of being imposing enough physically that the other side has second thoughts.
>>31766768
they're decent in an intel role
searching other women
undercover with a woman client etc.
they have their uses but like >>31766802
said not really needing more than one per team
semi related- Qaddafi had weird taste in women.
Convince me not to buy a excellent condition Argentine Mauser just like this one at the gun show for 400
Given the current political climate, that $400 would be better spent on ammo, mags, etc
>>31766611
Or an AR Lower
It's too long.
