So you could just buy a stripped or complete lower and select exactly what you want for an upper. Also, forward assist is a jam enhancer so you decide for yourself if that's a requirement

You have to do it fast enough that they don't have time to tighten their grip and it relies on the element of surprise, but it is viable. At the end of the day, the most important part of it all is to get the barrel pointing away from you. Just don't twist the weapon to the outside of the body; twisting the wrist to the outside causes the tigers to naturally curl and could cause the opponent to fire the gun involuntarily.

If the guy is stupid enough to put a gun within your arms reach, which rather defeats the purpose, then yes, it's better than standing still while he shoots you.
