Help me out /k/

I'm about to buy a G17 as my get shit done gun.

But can't really make up my mind when it comes down to Generation.

Some IPSC fags say Gen 3 is way better than Gen 4, but can't see why since it's probably same factory and shit.

Gen 4 has exchangable grips, bigger mag release and this new grip texture which really persuades me, but I don't like this spring rod that's visible from the front.

Is there a way to make it go away?

That's really helpful.

There's no way i can get my hands on Gen2

If tiny aesthetics like visible guide rod upset you, enjoy seeing it on probably every semi automatic. Stop crying and get a wheel gun if it puts that much sand in your clam

>a few years after Hillary won the election
>various panics drive up gun prices just like under Obama
>Republicans continue to obstruct everything
>more business as usual
>Ginsburg ends up dying
>AWB challenge finally makes it to the Supreme Court and AWB laws gets struck down nationally 4-3
>gun panics end and gun prices drop again
>companies no longer have to produce AWB friendly guns
>even more companies have jumped on the AR-15 train driving the price down to $300 per gun on basic models, dropping lower during sales
>the market for AR-15s in calibers other than 5.56x45mm explodes bringing the prices of many caliber conversions down to just slightly over a 5.56x45mm model making AR-15s easily price competitive against rifles in other common calibers
>AR-15 sales are now cutting into the sales of all other rifles
>talk of Ruger discontinuing the Mini-14 along with other companies that make other low end and mid range semi auto options that used to compete with the AR-15
>AKs can't compete as the surplus parts they're built with dry up, sales only continue due to AK aesthetics
>companies won't even bother bringing new semi auto designs to the market that aren't bullpup and even then they have a hard time getting sales
>even bolt action rifles are having a hard time competing with AR-15 sales cutting deep into the sales of midrange offerings and low end offerings in many calibers
>companies respond by thinning out the their lines of bolt action rifles, companies that don't already have well established higher end lines stop producing bolt action rifles all together
>AR-15s sales are even cutting into the sales of shotguns with features for home defense now that they're less than $100 more than you can get a new ~18" barrel 12 gauge for
>the rifles stocked at gun stores are almost entirely AR-15s
>the words AR-15 and rifle start getting used interchangeably by a good portion of the population as AR-15s are the most common rifle seen
Please tell me this can't happen.

I just want affordable fn rifles and valmets and such to be a thing...
>>
>>31775468
That would be incredibly unlikely in such a situation. Hell, FN would probably end up discontinuing the SCAR if AR-15s got to that point.
>>
>>31775250
SCARs and other non-ar15 wouldn't sell today if that was the case. People are always going to want variety and they'll always pay for it.

So, I'm thinking of picking up a RFB.

Are they any good? I seem to remember that the earlier ones from when they first came out where really iffy, but supposedly they fixed it?

Its a Kel-Tec buy at your own risk
>>

>Are they any good?

No.
>>
>>31775202

There was the drywall screw meme, but aside from that I've heard decent things.

Like most Kel-Tec stuff they can be hit or miss from one gun to another, but by and large they are good rifles. Essentially plastic bullpup FALs (hell, it's even got a tilting breechblock).

For what it's worth, Kel-Tec makes a better bullpup than IWI imo.

Hey /k, I could use a hand.
Found this knife by Benchmade at a local flea market for 15 bucks. I'm trying to look it up, but can't find it on their site. Does anyone here know?

There's a lot of fakes out there. That may be one of them.
>>
>>31775200
15 bucks means it's either fake or the seller is a retard.
It doesn't exactly look like Benchmade quality though. Personally, I wouldn't trust it.
>>
>>31775200
for $15, take a gamble. worse case scenario, youre out $15.
based on the very limited info, id probably guess a fake.

Is it possible to load all 5 rounds into a bolt gun magazine while the magazine is in the receiver?

Yeah?

Hence the existence of stripper clips.
>>
>>31775177
I'm going to try to not call you a retard, but there are many different types of bolt action rifles with many different types and capacities of magazines you retard.
>>
>>31775177

A lot of bolt action rifles don't even have detachable magazines.

I'll buy a box here and there if I see it for sale at WallyMart but I generally buy in bulk, either 500 or 1000 rounds.

Why was the Vietnam war hated? Was it because of the media or just the low morale of the soldiers?
25 posts and 3 images submitted.

>>31774951
media and stupid president

soldier moral was still high enough to keep carrying on and despite what the media was showing they was far less civilian casualties and war crimes done by US soldiers in vietnam than in WW2

even if the US soldiers went away from vietnam, south vietnam with the help given from the CIA would have been able to push back the north without too much trouble

Hello /k/avemen

Just beginning the process of emigration from UK to the land of maple syrup, can someone give me the highs and lows of what I'll need to know in terms of gun ownership over there?

Been shooting all my life, but never owned because UK a shit, but I have family out there and have just tied up my MA so I'm Canada bound soon. Do you guys have to have gun safes out there? I know there's some classes out there that are mandatory but I'd like to hear some of your experiences

Going east coast if that makes a difference

What kind of food do you include in your BOB/INCH bag/TEOTWAWKI bags?

I haven't put one together yet and I'm interested in knowing what others use. If anything, I think I'd at least be interested in making my own hardtack.

Pic related because I just ate it and its what got me thinking about this situation. I understand you want to avoid canned/tinned food because the extra weight can be an issue?

which do you prefer pistols or revolvers and why?
14 posts and 1 images submitted.

B-B-But revolvers are pistols, anon
>>
>>31774639
I like revolvers for mouse guns and woods guns.

For subcompact I like semi-auto.
>>
>>31774639
For fun, fingering, target shooting, cuddling. Revolvers.

For an actual self defense situation or carry gun. Semi auto.

I want to apply for a Concealed Carry permit in Philly. I've been googling for information on how to do that and I'm a little bit confused. Do I just walk into any police station and ask to apply for one? is there a certain police station I have to go to? are there hours that they are able to do that that I need to be aware of?

There is some private website that wants to charge me 17 dollars for this information. That's bullshit.

Right now I mostly only have a gun so I can go to the range by myself. There is an exception in the PA law that states I can carry it to the range as long as it's unloaded and the ammo is not in the mag and I'm going directly to the range and back, but I have a feeling that if some cop stopped me and found a gun, he'd probably not know that and want to bust me anyway, so I'd like a piece of paper on me that says I am legal to carry it around.

Also since it takes 45 days by then I might want to carry for self defense (would probably buy another gun for that honestly). better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

pic related. It's my Hi Power.

It's not hard. Read this

http://www.phillypolice.com/assets/docs/PPD-Form.Firearm-License-Application.pdf

Follow the instructions.

Carry permits are: License to Carry Firearms issued on a "shall-issue" basis. *A LTCF is required to carry a firearm within a City of the First Class (Philadelphia), in a vehicle, concealed on one's person, or during a declared state of emergency.

"Shall Issue" means the state is required to issue it to you if you are not a prohibited person.

Has anyone on /k/ ever shot or owned one of these? It's a Pedersoli Howdah Hunter black powder pistol in 20ga smoothbore, 50 and 58 rifled. They're pricey but I've been saving to get one if these for quite some time now, but I need additional advice.

Also /bpg/ I guess

I shot an uncle's old sawed off black powder shotgun and it really doesn't kick too bad if you use both hands and is kind of manageable with one but heavy and not really pleasent.

Also if you fire two barrels at once constantly you stand good chance of splitting the soldered seam or breaking the stock. Not much of a problem with some mail order thing held together with fiberglass epoxy and chicken wire after it happened but the Pedersoli ones are too mice for that.

I would love to see more replica asian black powder guns. South east asian muskets with long barrels and pistol grips make my dick hard. Also jezails. Shits cash yo.
