Yes...

First time gun buyer and concealed carrier here, I'm in the process of narrowing down some possible candidates guns. I live in a very pro-gun state, so I have a very wide selection that I'd like to narrow down before I start trying out different guns at the range and end up infatuated with something stupid because I don't know any better.

Here are the basic factors I know I'm looking for:
>$500-$750 dollar range preferable
>9mm or .357 chambering preferred, though if you can convince me otherwise go for it
>DA/SA preferred over SAO, unsure about my preference between strikers vs hammers
>Compact size preferred, not too heavy loaded
>Doesn't need extensive aftermarket modification, sturdy enough to double as a range toy

I currently run a S&W 649 stainless .357 with a Galco royal guard iwb holster. Super comfortable and plenty of firepower in my opinion. Though you probably already know, if you do get a .357 mag for carry you can practice with .38s or .357 which is also a plus. Don't however be one of those assholes that buys a .357 and carries .38 +p in it because they're scared of recoil. If you buy a .357 carry it with .357. Don't be a little bitch.
>>
>>32639703
I am aware of the .357/.38 versatlity; one of the main reasons I'm considering a .357 for carry is so that I can plink with .38s. I'll look into the 649 and see if it satisfies my other criteria
>>
>>32639479
I love revolvers for range use, but honestly semi-autos are better in every way for actual carry.

As for trigger set up, the most important thing for a CCW gun is a consistent trigger pull.
That means DAO, SAO or striker fired
I would not suggest a DA/SA because that first shot will always have a much longer/heavier pull, and the first shot is often the most important
Personally I think striker would be best for your application
That means glock, m&p, sig p320, hk vp9, xd/xdm, etc..

Ret. Gen. "Mad Dog" Mattis was quoted in his hearing for the position of Secretary of Defense saying that his main objective was to ensure every deployed man and woman was at their most lethal potential.

This may entail some changes to the soldier's arsenal.

ITT we help our new SoD in generating new firearms to increase the lethality of our armed forces.

I'll start, I call this the M4ATIGER

Using miniaturizing technology, a soldier loads this bad boy up with a magazine of 30 live tigers. Sent in as a single man, he then fires all rounds into the area of engagement. The tigers give hell and the soldier fucks off.

This is just a rough sketch, so don't get your hopes up.

What are the common issues and long term wear/breakages I will see with the 92FS?

I've wanted a 92FS in my collection just for the hell of it since I've always liked the way it looks.Always been a Resident Evil fan so will likely make a Samurai's Edge replica via grips and engraving. Just wondering what to expect as far as performance and longevity.

Any issues with a steel slide vs aluminum frame?

Is there an all steel frame version?

Is it worth it to buy a USP over a P30?
36 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>32639244

not really, the p30 has better ergo.
>>
>>32639244
no
>>
Depends, the P30 is more comfy but arguably the USP is more reliable (not saying the P30 isn't, but the USP has a reputation for a reason). I chose the P30 (in 9mm at least) 6 years ago and I love it

In .40 though the USP is better (considering it was literally designed for .40S&W) but if you're wanting .40 your'e and idiot

How much did you pay for it? Did you build it or buy it complete?

If so, what brand(s) are the upper and lower receiver?

You have the basics, which is good. Get proficient with those irons. How much did you pay?
>>

I paid $602 in total for the gun. It's a del-ton which I heard were decent, but some folks on here said they're low and cheap. The specs are good though, it came with a heavy barrel, m4 feed ramps, all mil spec parts, etc..

I like it so far, I bought complete. The complete name is Del-Ton Echo 316 m lok

So recently there have been contracts awarded for development of two new United States weapons systems.

The Columbia-Class nuclear ballistic missile submarines, of which they have just entered the design phase of the contract awards. Fabrication for the first in class, the Columbia, will begin in 2021 with entry into service occuring in 2028. General Dynamics has claimed that they will attain 86% design maturity prior to beginning fabrication and assembly.

The new SHiELD laser defense pod has recently been awarded a further contract to develop a laser defense weapon capable of destroying the warheads of incoming missiles. This is currently being developed into an external pod to be mounted on aircraft as small as fighter aircraft. The laser internals are developed by Northrop Grumman and Boeing has just been contracted to develop the external pod and integration to aircraft. The current testbed will be an external pod mounted to am F-15. The goal of this technology will be to track and destroy surface-to-air or air-to-air missiles incoming to the aircraft. It is planned to be developed into a 360 degree protection system. This could potentially mitigate the need for stealth and also potentially mitigate an air denial system composed of missile defenses.

I know this is all just abstract information from the defense industry, but what does /k/ think of these new developments?
