For the life of me, trying to draw from imagination is ridiculously infuriating. I want to be able to draw whatever I imagine but why even after some few months of figure drawing is it still so difficult?

>step 2- stay away from it
say something worthwhile instead of pandering to sentimentality
Tfw you're too autistic to attend workshops
Tfw you won't ever meet your two senpais on one table
W-we're all gonna make it, lads.
How could a shameless tracer consider Ruan their senpai? He should idolize Irakli Nadar instead.

someday I will make it and afford to go an event with kjg, buy his books, and if I am lucky even get a drawing from him

Is there a way to prove to someone that his taste is objectivly bad?
>>2688177
No.
>>2688177
Why would you want to do that?
Let them enjoy what they want to enjoy.
Why you gotta literally take the fun out of their life?
>>2688177
If it's not in the Bible, it's bad. Or something like that.

Does anyone have the translation for the rightmost tutorial. I know there is an English version of this tutorial that gets passed around here, but I can't find it online.
No prob, have fun.
Redpill me on digital vs traditional
which is better?
neither is better, a shit artist will make shit art with either medium
>>2693443
Neither, it's how you use them that matters.
No rules, just tools.
Depends, really.
I'd argue digital is "better" in terms of utility. Once you've got your tablet and your software the world is your oyster and you generally won't need to worry about supplies. You can generally fix any fuckup you make given enough time, and it's the most forgiving medium there is. You can emulate any medium to some extent digitally.
Many traditional mediums have a look that can't quite be captured by digital yet, however. Most digital art is recognizably digital, oil paintings look like oil paintings, watercolors like watercolors, charcoal like charcoal. You can try to imitate a look, and if you're skilled you can get pretty close, but a sharp eye will usually notice.
Personally I've come to really like a hybrid approach. Doing traditional work, scanning it, and refining digitally.
Do you prefer highly realistic art over art which sacrifices skill or detail for the sake of expression? I do though mostly everyone I ask IRL says that expressionism or abstract art is a meme.
The people you've talked IRL have no taste, just like /ic/
Probably because they only care about vidya concept art and have never set foot in a museum.
Just watch this thread become wreck when the spergs come in.

Who cares what fucking Normies think?
They have shit taste in music, they have shit taste in movies, they have shit taste in everything.
Why would it be any different with fine art?
tagging is for faggots and edgy kids

let me guess you draw anime fucking cuck
This is my first oil painting. I focus mainly on pen drawings. Oil was one heck of messy fun and its nothing like I imagined. This damn thing will be wet for days and I learned to keep that bottle of turpetine out of a closed room where I reside in.
I figured for my next painting I would start with a sketch, as I realized you really can't paint over colors unless you wait longer than 8 hours to paint over it.
critique? Comments? What do you guys think?
Oil tips?
>>2693272
dang you should have posted this in the traditional painting thread.
>>2693272
if the oil is still wet please wipe out that hideous bush from the center of the painting. it completely destroys the composition.
>>2693390
that bush looks really 3D in the thumbnail though
I'm lazy af on my own but excel to my own surprise under pressure. What the hell am I supposed to do to motivate me with no one kicking my ass? I'm too old (27) for the whole mentor routine.
>>2693979
There are 14 y/o girls better at art than you
>>2693979
>how to motivate myself
If you don't want to work, then there is no way to force yourself to start working.
Believe me, if there was I would already found one. I've read tons of books about motivation, habits, flow theory, willpower, even about diets, drugs and biochemistry of the brain. The answer simply isn't there.
Sure, there are things that make is SLIGHTLY easier (exercising, meditating or joining a group with similar goals to name few that are scientifically proved to be effective), but in the end you have to just do it.
I'm sorry anon, but there is no cure for laziness.
Is CGMA a good thing to look into if you're not very good at practicing without an instructor guiding you? I've heard good things especially about Dynamic Sketching but has anyone gone through the entire foundational program?
Pic related is about where I'm at skill-wise, for reference.
>>2693973
you have to be rich to go through the entire thing
>>2693990
I'm still living at home and I'd be willing to use my job money to pay for classes if they're worth it.
How do I get used to the cintiq?
I used a wacom tablet since I was 13 or 14, so for more than 10 years now. I've pretty much just used it instead of a mouse for my PC.
Now I got this 13hd cintiq tablet and I thought it would be awesome to switch to something that feels like normal drawing again, and I just...can't. All my lines are fucking chicken scratch and everything feels so unnatural.
I thought I'd be drawing all the time, and here I am, stuck in this huge artblock, and everytime I try to sketch it comes out shit.
Wat do.
>>2684775
First check that it isn't a jitter issue. Use a ruler to draw a straight line. Grab a roll of tape and trace that too. Check around the center of the screen and around the edges. If your lines look wobbly then it's a driver issue.
>>2684799
Nah, everything is fine with the drivers. I just can't get used to this whole setup.
>>2684808
then get over it you whiny cunt
