I'm a recruiter for Blizzard just passing by. My name is Nick Callialo and I'd just like to say that your concept design skills is exactly what we're looking for here at our studio. If possible I would like to get in contact with you to discuss employment opportunities. If interested please leave an email and I'll get in touch with you as soon as I can.

Warm wishes!

Maybe it's not such a bad thing. This boards slow enough, maybe bumping bait threads are a good way to release stress. It seems like almost every week the same joke thread is posted.

How is this a vendetta?

hey /ic/, I wanted to print some vinyl stickers for a friend's event and am trying to be cost-effective (we're broke.) Is it worth it to spring for vinyl sticker paper? Or can I get away with just putting an enamel or krylon finish on A4 cheap sticker papers? I'm also interested in making lighter wraps and was wondering if either of these were a viable method for that.

This has little to do with this board, but I've worked on a print shop and I can say that, at least where I live, sticker paper will only cost you cheaper when printed in larger quantities (thousands).
I'd stick to the vinyl, no pun intended.

I use Sai and have gotten prints made, but now I want to make posters, and Sai as far as I know is only RGB. What are my options and if you're experienced with this: is it better to convert? Are there other options for CMYK software? I need some knowledge.

SAI is old news. I recommend clip studio paint.
>>
>>2743805
do you have an industrial printer and are you operating it all by yourself? otherwise, just use sRGB
>>
>>2743805
These days getting prints done is more about altering your values for optimum print than fucking about with DPI or colour modes.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Can you draw nude children these days without becoming known as a kiddy fiddler?

>>
>>2743788
you can if you take the classical route. classical paintings are fine.

If you're doing digital paintings of kids, it wont be classy, no matter how good you are. You'll be seen as some freak, and the people who do enjoy what you draw, will probably enjoy it for the wrong reasons (im assuming you want to make innocent paintings)

On the other hand, if you wanted to "slum it" lots of porn artists can get away with drawing many taboo subjects as long as they keep a low profile, and avoid promotion on normalfag social media outlets, usually their artwork does the promotion for them. You'll still be seen as a freak.

If you want to be taken seriously, study painting traditionally, get the "credentials" that make you a fancy-pants guy, and people might maybe not think of you as a pervert.

final point; dont let other people dictate what you draw or paint. If thats the sort of thing you feel in your heart that you would most love to draw, then fucking do it.

It won't mean anything if the work inside the canvas doesn't follow the ratio.

Golden ratio is a meme. Stop wasting your time with that dumb garbage.

Personally I think the golden ratio is too big, a slightly smaller one would be more appealing.

I thought about asking /adv/ this, but I figured you guys might know better... Why is it whenever I want to draw, or even vaguely think about drawing, I get extremely tired? I'm so tired of it. I have so many ideas and feel so motivated at times but every time I want to I just get unbelievably tired.

How do you beat something like this, /ic/? I just want to draw again.
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2743751
You just have negative associations with art. Maybe you forced yourself in the past to draw when you didn't want to or to draw things you didn't like, so your brain sees it as a chore. Or maybe you are too result oriented and beat yourself up when the images you make don't live up to your standards.

You need to find a way to step back from all that and remember why you like art and drawing in the first place, and then focus on enjoying the moment while drawing something you enjoy without worrying about things like what it will be like when it's done or what expectations you or others might have for it and so on.
>>
Not to be the armchair psychologist here but from an objective face-value it sounds like your brain is trying to keep you from drawing. Is drawing something you really want to do? Are you more invested into the end result or the process of drawing? For beginners, the process is what is fairly daunting. If anything, just take some uppers and push through it.
>>
>>2743752
>>2743777

I suppose I do feel very invested in what the end result would be, because I see that in my head and it's what I want to draw. But even before grabbing a pencil and paper, that's when my brain goes into shut down mode with wanting to sleep.

Sometimes I do try to just push through it and keep myself going because I know nothing will come of it if I don't at least try--but even then about half way through I'll get even more tired and have to stop. Haven't considered trying any sort of uppers, might have to see if that'll help.

I do love drawing, >>2743752 , and I used to enjoy it a lot more. I just don't know what happened. I never had to draw stuff for people usually, so it wasn't as though I was just burnt out on it from doing stuff like that...it just...sort of happened one day. This has actually been an on-going problem for over a year now. If my brain is trying to keep me from drawing, I really can't understand why. I've thought about taking some art classes, hoping that the possibility of passing/failing will make me absolutely have to draw, but it makes me nervous because I'm not even sure if that will help, or if it'll just go terribly because I'm not sure if I'll just be constantly tired.

Thank you so far for the advice. It's very much appreciated!

How important is the skill of freehand straight-line drawing? I mean, I can draw straight lines but not without the help of any straightedges. If rulers are always available, is freehanding really THAT important?

Pic related; me freehanding straight lines
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2743621
Depends what type of art you want to do, but in most cases it's less important than you may think.
>>
You should be able to make whatever type of line you want. So whatever it takes you to achieve that. Yeah you can use a straight edge, but it will slow you down.
>>
It's important in terms of being able to make a quick confident straight when you want to without having to pull out a ruler. Same as being able to draw a circle without a tool.

Think of it like being able to figure out what you're going to tip after a meal without needing to break out your calculator. It's convenient even if the calculator can do the job. It's just convent, and it's good for your workflow to not have to interrupt it.

What do you do when you feel like something doesn't click?
I love art. I love viewing it, seeing the process, the people behind it, etc. But when I draw I don't feel any joy at all, just the knowledge that I'm missing something, but don't know what.
It's awful to think that there's something preventing you from meeting your full potential. How do I work to find out what it is? Is it even possible?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.

Honestly anon, there isn't a single right answer.

Some people are going to say "If you don't enjoy the process you're never going to make it" and they're right to an extent. My belief, however, is that being a beginner is very rarely fun anyway. If you're self aware of how shit you are, it's going to suck for a while. For months, maybe years.

The question is, do you find satisfaction in self improvement? Do you enjoy striving towards a goal, even if the day-to-day can be unpleasant? If so, you can probably reach a point where you start to appreciate the craft and enjoy doing art. It took me a while before the process itself became enjoyable to me, once I was comfortable with the process. My answer to the people who always say "if you don't love every minute of art don't even bother!"and act like they're always having a mindshattering orgasm whenever they draw have their heads up their asses.

Getting good at art is part passion, part discipline. You need the discipline when the passion fails, and it will fail sometimes, guaranteed. If you feel like you're missing something, you're already a step ahead of the legion of retards drawing terrible art and thinking they're hot shit.
>>
Work at it. just like anything you do naturally the difficulty will pass eventually.
>>
>>2743637
Basically this.

Sometimes you find a threshold, a limit, you can't exceed easily, even with some good literature. You should definetly find a coach or go to a class and have someone who can "help" abit.
It helped me alot back then, when I go depressed because I couldn't understand color and it always felt wrong. With a small amount of coaching it just clicked and I felt alot better about myself and I progressed alot faster.
The only hard part is developing your own style, when you have someone coaching you. But you also forget bad habits but lose some of your own direction.

Sup /ic/ in my digital art course I was assigned to choose any digital artist that works in a way that I never knew was possible beforehand and discuss why it is worth discussing about. But problem is I can't come up with anything so that's where you guys come in. Thankfully I don't know jack shit about digital art beyond basics so I think anyone will work as long as they are someone that expands solely on the idea of digital art. Nothing that is simply art done on digital stuff that can only be done digitally. All the help is appreciated. pic unrelated.

Andrew "Android" Jones has done some weird ass digital shit, using strange vectors and fractals and things. At one point he rigged up some script that converted sound waves into abstract shapes and so would play the guitar to create abstractions that he would make images out of.

Otherwise probably some shit people do in 3d programs is pretty mindblowing and there are some really interesting solutions that use algorithms. I think some of the designs on the aliens from Edge of Tomorrow used some crazy algorithms to get movements not possible to animate manually.

Scott Robertson, generally design area. It's more maybe what is "behind the art", but look at 53:00 about the texture bombing (also 33:00 about making character designs out of onion)

See pic related. A guy produces fuckton of those and just switches sliders and shits design after design without him even being there. Part about shoes is also quite awesome: he makes 900 unique designs of shoes in short amount of time, all that could be shoes some day.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ7aaUVhGUo

Look at this whole video from the start (and generally more of his videos on custom brushes and modelling in modo), he shows quite interesting stuff how he "cheats" and shits designs.
