Explain why there is such strong dislike for the MSComicSans font. It looks good to me,two strenths of boldness, and it remains legible even when shrunk small. What font should one use instead?
>>2748026
take it to /gd/ you dopey fuq
short answer bad spacing
long answer google it
Okay...did a little research and the world hates Comic Sans. Who knew?
Anyway, what font is being used in this MegaTokyo strip? Is it "acceptable" or what should I be using instead?
fucking kill me.
>>2745682
Can't deny that you got better at drawing boxes though.
>>2745682
thinking about hanging yourself?
To spare your time: what you are doing is the easy and mostly pointless - drawing random cubes.
And this is where the /ic doesn't get the point of statements like "all you have to do is to draw boxes in perspective and you will become better."
Its not about drawing random boxes but drawing boxes around the objects (you have one thread like thst on ic where OP posted apple and people drew box around it). Only then that box has a purpose. And it has even more purpose, when you ROTATE the same box, with same object in any desirable view.
You can crank 100 random boxes in an hour, but you wont learn shit. But you can spend 1 deliberate hour for only one box, which actually has a purspose (object within a box) and where you actually have to THINK
I started a tumblr today, I have 0 notes and I was expecting this,
How can I promote my art to get the more possible visibility and followers ? even if it takes time, I want to know what are the right things to do from the beginning

Fanart
Tag the shit out of your stuff, prioritize your first five. I tend to do a few directly related to the piece (IE if you drew a knight put "knight" if you drew a landscape put "landscape") then stuff like "art" "artists on tumblr" "pen and ink" etc. Then after the first five just go wild with whatever is relevant. A mix of big tags and more specific tags is usually a good thing, since with big tags your stuff can get easily drowned out but also reaches a wider audience.
Fanart will get you notes. In my own experience though none of my fan art that really took off netted me that many more followers, you just get a lot of reblogs.
If you follow blogs / engage with people they'll often check you out and follow you back unless they're really big. Some people take issue with the philosophy of "follow people and get followers, like their work and they like you back" but I say it depends on your philosophy. I like to follow artists even if they're shit because I like to watch them develop, and I tend to like beginner art as a show of support and a reminder they're not just posting to the void, but guaranteed some people on /ic/ will take offense to that philosophy.
Also part of it is just post regularly. The more shit you have floating around on other people's blogs the more likely you'll get people who follow it back to your blog and follow you.
I got a new tumblr not a week old and sat with 0 notes even with some fanart there. And then suddenly one unrelated digital piece I made received like 20 notes in less than a hour.
I haven't a doubt you people get this question every other thread but how the hell do I learn how to draw?
I've been doodling for shits and giggles for the past 16 years and have gotten to the point where I can convincingly draw a body from the front (?) but I don't know where to go from here.
Should I just grind figure studies? Do I play around with cubes and shit? What do I do?
start training your brain to see stuff in 3d.
if you're grinding studies you have to be grinding towards a goal, or else you're just wasting a lot of time.
>>2749175
Well now your next goal is draw a body convincingly from the back and then so on, get to work and study smart.
>>2749175
The other anons are right.
By the way, can we see your work, OP? If you don't want to post it here you can post it in the draw thread or alt style thread. In my opinion it'll help you see where you're at.
what parts of the brain are used most ? what exactly is going on? where does a drawing find "heart"? what does it mean to have an artists soul?
Next you can go ask /sci/ how to draw a brain.
goddamn this is some kickass art. anybody agree?
What do you call this kind of art?
>>2749132
trash

looks like one of my 10 min sketches. is this supposed to look finished lul?

Post your current drawing here and be an asshole to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then kill yourself.

i always forget you can fuck around with levels in photoshop.

seriously, why don't you get your own thread? I don't see the point, you don't see the point, nobody else sees the point of having you and "muh style" in the draw threads. I'm sure you'll get as much attention in your own thread. Even Illastrat always gets quite some attention, so you'd probably get more (You)'s this way.
whining thread maybe ?
did you guys pick a crappy art/game design school to go to too? wasting tons of money on shit that you could have learned on your own? wasting three years of your life with horrible hipster assholes who get a kick out of being an asshole to you for no reason?
i used to love drawing so much, it was my after school thing to do. practice, get better, etc.
now that i sit in school here with drawing as my "job" i have grown really tired of it. i never felt so uncreative and unproductive. i waste all my time playing vidya instead of practicing, because i feel like i wasted my life and money on this shit anyways and now i have no skills to deal with real life
does anyone else have situations like this? honestly no day passes without me wanting to kill myself at this point
>>2743826
I wasted 2 years of my life in a game design school that sucked dick because in the end there was way more marketing -classes than game design, coding or art -classes combined.
Kinda fitting since games are all about marketing these days but it still sucked.
>>2743832
sufferin together famski
we dont even get that sadly
2 years were spent with classes held by unqualified "teachers" (some of which got fired for touching students and being neo nazis apparently) we had 2 weeks storyboarding in 2 years in this school
like 1 week marketing
most was just empty space of "just work on something we didnt explain and then enjoy your bad grade because we are not even going to tell you what you did wrong even though you pay us tons of money that your parents saved up for you that you desperately wish to pay back and then shoot yourself-"
they printed our endcards 4 times because EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY WERE FULL OF SPELLING ERRORS. im in the fifth semester and these cunts gave me my signed report cards for the first year NOW.
>>2743826
I'm so mad at those who have money to go to these schools and just waste their time by saying they wasted their money. Here too poor for school, but too rich to get financial aid. This life is fucking killing me. I just want to draw and make some money already.
Does anyone have the Steve Huston head/features drawing videos from NMA?
Check cgpeers
>>2748637
Not the head drawing videos
>>2748639
The head drawing videos are not there*
Does anybody remember a performance artist who once had a performance in which he smashed his head against the walls of a room until he passed out? No luck with google
Im not entirely sure if this is the right board for this
>>2748621
Thanks man
is possible to program a computer to make art?
The only correct answer would be maybe.
But only if it reads the sticky and grinds 8 hours a day.
Otherwise it's a no.
is it possible for your mother to stop sucking dicks?
I mean, yeah.
So basically I've started to make some progress in copy studies and I think it's pretty okay now.
What now? What should I start learning next?
/beg/ thread you fuck.
>>2746757
How to not make your own thread.

How do I put a layer into a layer mask in Photoshop?
>>2734568
So my layer 3 is some random scatter brush, which I added to put some surface texture. My layer 2 is the mask which I painted my rock into.
How can I put the layer 3 so its confined to layer 2's mask?
>>2734569
iirc you hold alt and click the edge of both layers so they're linked.
Hey, i have been painting pretty quite a lot this last year. This is a pretty new project. How can i improve blending and lightning and stuff?
And also, do you guys like this style? Should i try to stick to more traditional landscapes? I try to make things from my imagination, but it is probably doing some harm...
>>2745992
That's not a 'style' and if it was I wouldn't like it.
You aren't gonna like to hear this, but quit painting and go learn your fundamentals: start with observational drawing and color theory. then learn perspective and construction. That painting looks pretty awful, and at best your local community may give you some accolades, though your peers will unabashedly speak ill of your abilities behind your back. You'll sell very little and find yourself frustrated when you have specific ideas and you can't communicate them through your medium. After a couple years of studying traditional, classical approaches and methods, doing only studies, you will find that you can approach working from your imagination with nimble ferocity. Looking at your old works like this will feel like a soaring eagle would while observing a three legged dog stuck in deep mud.
But by all means, if you would like to remain a glorified toddler enjoying the tactility of paint without any understanding, carry on. Whenever you change your mind, we'll be here to help you find answers.
On the other side of the coin...
Looks pretty, can't read anything besides the flesh spires overtaking the fourteenth century docks that they appear to be on. I like your fine detail, but color selection needs work.
As style is a matter of opinion, I quite like yours actually. Very scifi grimdark.
