What does /ic/ think 3dTotal's Digital Painting Techniques series? Have any of you bought them and had success with their methods?
>>2741116
They're awful. Typical "how to" trash, won't teach you anything.
>>2741116
I've never seen them but if the cover is anything to go off of then you probably want to avoid it. Plus weren't they printed quite a while ago?
There are literally hundreds of amazing videos by top of the industry artists that you can get online. You will learn more from a video seeing it all happen with the guy actually talking instead of an awkward step-by-step.
>>2741116
I actually have said book, I got it one Christmas when I first started out. I remember flicking through it a lot as I was learning and there were a few technical tricks I learned here and there but nothing particularly noteworthy. There's practically no emphasis on fundamentals either. Its biggest selling point was some of the artists they had gotten to contribute.
What inspires you to draw, /ic/?
>>2738071
>What inspires you to draw, /ic/?
Society, I suppose.
Pretty pretentious way of saying "other people" but what can you do.
>>2738089
is the city in the background photoshopped in? what the fuck
Is it possible to have a thread where we give each other drawing/painting ideas?
Maybe something like those "paint the pic after yours" threads or a thread with study references, idk.
>>2734453
I'd be down for suggestions on random things to draw. Anything with animals would be cool but i guess its just gonna be
>tits
>fetish
>tits
>fetish
>tit fetish
>>2734464
I really hope it won't be nothing but that. If I wanted to draw that I could go to any drawthread on another board. I'm trying to think of some topic to springboard from.
I was thinking maybe master studies but I honestly don't know who would make for a good suggestion.
>>2734453
Doing studies from photos is kinda a waste of time.
Other than that, sure. We've had "study threads" in the past, brainstorming exercises would be alright.
Throwing this out there, one guy draws a sketch to convey a concept and another guy takes that and incorporates it (not necessarily directly uses it) into a rendered piece. Perhaps not a finished work, but just a quick 2 hour doodle or something to mess around with.
Plus a tagging system so you don't have multiple people doing the same sketch. Or at least don't post a sketch unless you've finished a work. Some guidelines to prevent threads from becoming clusterfucks.
Has anyone bought one of these? Are they any good?

>>2741230
Yeah. Though I imagine that's easier than hand-carving actual woodblock prints and printing them up by hand these days.
I have switched books and courses atleast 8 times by now, reading all these shitty advices on /ic/
>Scott Robertson is too advanced for you
>Drawabox guy's work is shit
>Sticky unironically recommends sycra
>Loomis is a fucking meme
>Everything else is too vague for me or too advanced
And i still suck ass. Tried to draw blindly, without any clear point in my mind that is, but i don't get any better that way. From where the fuck do i get started and how do i advance??
>>2736415
>taking the sticky literally
Most of the better artists here all went to some kind of art school where their instructors have never head of loomis.
That should tell you something
>>2736415
not gonna make it
>>2736415
Hey mate. I'm in a super good mood today, so I'll let you in on a little secret.
It just takes time. You'll get frustrated at yourself a lot, it'll seem like nothing is sticking.
It is, it just takes a long time for your brain to put this stuff together. I can't tell you how many times I've felt like it just isn't in me, so close to just quitting, and every time I've gotten better.
I'd recommend you watch ctrl+paint on youtube, and if you can get your hands on his whole video series.
Then get a subscription to newmastersacademy, its super cheap and the knowledge you get is amazing.
And then come join Last Artist Standing to get your daily drawing routine going and get better alongside other like minded cucks.
What sites does /ic use for drawing reference? I've yet to find a good one for practicing anatomy.
>>2738517
I freezeframe HD porn and draw people getting railed.
They try, but you don't get a whole lot of anatomical stretch with naked people standing in a room.
>>2738525
Neither thread is relevant.
Why is this a thing? He has 58 pages on DA with this inflated shit. Is it all part of a elaborate joke or do people really nut to this?
>>2740891
Fetishized content doesn't need a why or how.
>>2740891
>do people really nut to this
first time o the internet?
What aspects do you think makes a simple art style good or bad? Which ones do you like/dislike and what makes them work/not work?
>>2740883
Poor value, poor compositional work, poor general concept being badly articulated.
In the picture you've posted, the silhouette isn't enforced by the value at all and the focal work is spotty as hell, relies on typical noodly arm poor dynamism to carry picture.
As for the art style itself, it's simplifying in ugly directions. The circle head doesn't do much for me at all, reminds me of that funko pop shit.
>>2740883
if that was rendered enough to look like a dreamworks movie I'd like it
>>2740883
I made a similiar thread a while ago OP and would like to know the objective answer as well.
Having an art style that is simple/attractive is good because its something you don't have to put a lot of time and effort in to get lots of people to like it.
is it better to draw on notebook or pc?
It's better to not to draw at all

This is a team graphic design for Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. It's the first graphic design I've done. Critique?
Inb4 just add chromatic aberration
Is copying others the only way to appeal to the mainstream? How do you draw attention to your work. how does git famous?
99.9% luck.
>>2740743
>How does one create a universally appealing piece?
It's impossible. Nothing in art or taste is completely universal.
>>2740743
Be good at drawing conventionally attractive women and men.
Judge me
>>2740267
>messy line with zero attention to pixel placement
>random grey smudges with a soft brush set to transfer
0/10 not pixel art
Also post in pixel art thread instead
nigger you stole that from OFF.
>>2740267
This isn't even pixel art.
Also daily reminder to not start threads with your own artwork asking for feedback.
Because this is how you get Vikings.

I respect the archer reference but that looks like dogshit, friend.
Cheap art thread, if it counts at art. Photo edits, nothing hard to make.
Op here, just wanna add that it's my first post ever here and I'm tired of not having anyone with who I can share my things

Because nobody is interested in half assed things that are easy to make because ANYONE CAN DO IT.
