>Read through Bridgman's book, constructive anatomy
>Understand the arm and legs thoroughly
>He has nothing of the sort on the torso/rectus abdominis
>His other book is really fucked up because of the print
What's the best way to continue to learn anatomy after you read through Bridgman?
Should I just continue to flip through books?

Draw from life and come up with your own ways to reliably simplify and abstract anatomical information.
Hey /ic/ im currently studying art in a college and im planning on transfering to an art school .Since tuition is mega expensive here in the US i'm planning on going to Canada, and i was wondering if any of you had some recomendations .Right now im thinking of Syn studio for concept art or Emily Carr school of design for media art
Tldr; Want to transfer to and art school in Canada for Digital art , recomendations please.
>>2740380
What type of art do you want to do? What is your current level at?
As a Canadian I don't really recommend our art schools. From what I have experienced and heard from others they are not all that strong. Also if you are an American coming here I think you would be hit with international tuition fees which are much higher than what we Canadians here pay.
It's probably better for you to focus on the US and either go to an unaccredited school where the costs are cheaper, or focus on getting scholarships.
>>2740514
Hello , thank you for answering , well i think i'm an intermediate beginner, i'd also like to focus on digital art, preferably 3d modeling.
See the problem is that even your most expensive school it's nothing compared to a uni here, for 20,000 I can go to syn studios, that's not much compared to the 162,000 for a career in the art center.
Why would you say its not that good? I've seen anons say that its pretty decent

>i'd also like to focus on digital art, preferably 3d modeling
Maybe try Gnomon then? I've heard pretty good things about it. I don't know the cost, but it certainly will be cheaper than ACCD. A lot of 3d modellers I think are self taught, there seems to be a lot of tutorials and videos online that you can learn from.
I've actually never heard anything about the quality of Syn so can't really say much on it. I think the level of teachers is not as good as something like Art Center though which explains a lot of the price difference, and probably the environment is less intense. I just checked their instructors list and I realized I know two of the teachers there personally, though I haven't spoken with either in a couple years now probably. Neither of them are industry veterans though and I have no idea how good they are at teaching, but both are quite nice as people.
Hi there, just looking for a little bit of feedback and advice, this is my first try on background , tell me what do you think.

Poor value and "pool of light" management, fails to draw viewer to focal point.
The perspective and rendering isn't egregious, concentrate on value management. I trust that you're thumbnailing in monochrome?
There's usually a >>2740315 post in each new thread but don't stress too much, if you want critique this is the way to do it. Just much more prefereable to display a body of work for critique this way over a single picture, especially a first attempt.
What perspective rule breaks the eye level?
Is this relative to the comic?
>>2739873
It's not a rule that he's using. He just put the foreground and background in different perspectives so that he could properly show the roof and railing, and also not have buildings behind the character so that his silhouette is against the flatness of the sky and it reads clearly and looks like he is high up.
>>2739879
I had no idea you could do that.
I thought you had to pick one perspective for a scene and stick to it. I knew about false perspective, but I didn't know you could take it to this extent.
>>2739881
>I had no idea you could do that.
I mean you can do whatever you want in art, even if some people on /ic/ will claim that there are ironclad rules. The fact of the matter is you can do what you want. Whether it will be successful when you break a rule is another thing, but there's nothing stopping you from trying it. As Vilppu says "there are no rules, only tools".
I've never before seen as artist intentionally "break" perspective quite as extreme as the example you posted, but I think it works. The fact that it is a comic books helps though, I think it would be less successful if it was a super realistic image. Once you know what you are doing you can fudge a lot of things to better get across your idea. It just takes some skill and knowledge, and may not work every time.
Were fat women really considered beautiful? Come how there are so many painting of them?
>>2740382
Depends on the time period. I think at some points it was popular to have them slightly chubby and nice and pale, since was associated with wealth that they could eat a lot and not work outdoors or anything.
Also your perceptions may be screwed slightly by a couple important artists. Rubens had a fat fetish, and both Rembrandt's wife and mistress was chubby and he used them as models a lot.
Throughout most cultures and most time periods though the ideal woman was of a more normal and healthy weight.
Not really. Venetians were just naturally inclined to sensuality. Such passions do not arise out of just proportions or modesty. The main Venetian school wanted to show mastery of imitating color, the which has been associated with feeling. Of the objects to be painted, flesh gives the most opportunity for this and allows the most praise. And of the type of flesh, it would be better for the purpose if the flesh was of the grosser type.
>>2740382
They are still beautiful. But I am a guy who thinks Liv Ullmann and Tilda Swinton are beautiful.

it's not great, but there's something about the painting that I like.
Anyone here tried using Samsung Tab for drawing or painting before? From what I've heard, these tablet comes with 1024 sensitivity level, which should be good enough most work out there.
Although I'm not too sure whether the mobile SoC or CPU is good enough for mid to high-res painting, moreover the 10.1" screen size might still be too small compared to laptop or desktop so I would love to hear some opinion from you guys who've tried it before.
>>2739216
The bigger question would be, can it run a painting software like paint tool sai? If not, then it's probably not worth it.
>>2739216
The painting apps for android are unfortunately very poorly designed and optimized.
I've used my samsung galaxy note for several ideations but nothing beyond that, since canvas sizes are pretty limited, plus the brushes you can use are very VERY limited and most of them suck ass.
So if you just want to doodle here and there, it's okay.
But for serious work it's like trying to play something like dark souls with a keyboard and mouse.

So I left my corporate job and I'm taking my biz full time. My biz started off as making customized steel weight plates for rucksacks, but I'm trying to shift the focus more into customized steel decor now, since big companies basically took the part of my weight plate idea I couldn't patent (the customization.)
I started a small Etsy presence. Any thoughts? Pricing seem fair? How's my work look overall- you can check out SHplates on Facebook and throw me some critique. Am I gunna make it?

Stick to the steel plates hahahahha
Aaaaahahahahahahahahahaha
>>2740632
Whyfor? We're going to keep doing the steel plates- it's not an either or by any means. But decor seems like a much more broad market...

Why the hell would he not sell his drawings? He's got hundreds if not thousands of sketches, why should they like around if he can make cash?
