This is an interesting 'tutorial', the painting looks really good until after he completes the building and then I feel the image starts to lose its strength. By the end it's chocolate box twee.

I've been drawing for over 2 years. I grinded a bunch of fundies and did photo studies of statues and shit and then I try it again and I suck relative to my current level.

Don't get me wrong, I feel like shit when I skip a day of it. But I get disappointed with a lot of what I draw and it demotivates me.

What fundamentals should I grind before starting to learn anatomy? I think I have a decent grasp of shape and proportion but I am shit at conveying 3d form in 2d.

If you're worried this much about diminishing your gains, then you are going about your grinds horribly wrong.

I can't say for certain but all I know is this, I'll use guitar and lifting as examples.

Sometimes when trying to learn a guitar solo, riff, or song I will play it over and over and just not quite get it. When I try again the next day I've got it down much better than where I left off. Even though I haven't done it in a while, like my brain knows right where to put my fingers without having to really think about it, it's muscle memory.

With lifting, you make most of the gains when you sleep. I am not sure but I have read a few times from a few sources that say your brain absorbs knowledge when you sleep, kind of in the same way you make your gains.

I'd say you're looking at diminishing returns as soon as you start to burn out and don't feel like drawing anymore, when you're too tired, or when you can't really concentrate for whatever reason.

Drawing gains are extremely gradual also so I wouldn't worry too much about it but definitely don't bother if you can't focus and yeah sleep is important.

Not all of here whine about getting good. Lots of people here enjoy drawing, which is generally why all you see is whining - the people who don't whine are actually drawing instead of complaining on 4chan.

I mostly come here for the book scans, and sometimes I hang around /beg/ to give crits. Only come once a week or so.

That being said, DA is a cesspool of little kids and autistic adults picking on eachother. Some of that shit gets really intense. So I'd still have to say loomis mushroom heads win.
