it's not good to listen to music drawing. You should be concentrating on the task at hand not trying subconsciously distract yourself

boring is subjective. Silence is space for creativity. Being easily distracted because you are cognitively or emotionally weak suggests you have no business seeking art gains until you sort yourself out.
>>
>>3098214
That's a pretentious way to look at it.

Sums up /ic/ pretty much. Aside from the occasional good post this is all there is.
>>
>>3098239
Hm. Doesn't sound all too unfamiliar from /v/. I think I'll get used to it.
>>
>>3098222
There is nothing pretentious about the common sense here. If you are distracted, even if in a calming way, you are STILL distracted. Therefore the attention to your work diminishes and its quality does so too.

The Mozart Effect is pseudoscience.

You shouldn't really listen to music while drawing. Ambience and noise generators are probably okay.

If you don't give a shit about this guy, he cites a few professional animators who had made points about not listening to music while drawing because of it being distracting.

usually documentary or edutainment podcasts or music, depending on the mood and what I'm drawing. I really like cheesy synths, but sometimes ambient works too.
Sometimes I put on a gaymin stream.

Still haven't been able to find an /ic/ related podcast but maybe that's because i'm not looking hard enough.

Yes, yes, we get it, you're new to drawing. Everyone at every studio I've worked at listens to music or a podcast or something like that.

I only discovered PCO through one of these threads from a few years back, so I always make an effort to return the favour and post it again so others can learn about them.

Classical music or white noise. Both help me focus a massive amount.

I'm actually interested to see if listening to white noise helps anyone else as much.
>>

>Everyone at every studio I've worked at listens to music or a podcast or something like that.

And they grind out work that pays peanuts
Those little studios for making ((phone-games)) that you "worked" at are monotonous, there is no real effort to produce good work, just shit to get clicks

Post your work, prove my point
>>
>>3098374
Har har! Asking someone to post their work in a thread about what music we listen to when drawing feels like a well-crafted satire of where /ic/'s board culture has been at for a while. No need for the biting negativity, my friend, here's another song I listen to a lot while working:

I guess its something that you just adapt to?
In my case I lived a place that was very hot and had no ac so had to get multiple fans they ended up acting as white noise and after using them for a year even after moving i cant sleep without them and my work suffers without them

There are different types of white noise to i guess so try some different ones if you want to listen to white noise?

Silence is the only thing you should be listening to whilst you draw. If your mind wonders then you're not concentrating on your art enough and if you can't stop thinking bad thou then you're not drawing what you're supposed to be drawing.

You see this is a tricky one.

People like Feng Zhu tend to listen to music but then again you could argue he already has fundamental knowledge to turn his brain off. I remember watching a video saying music actually does impact your ability to create work negatively.

It could just be personal preference.
>>
Depends on the ambience where I'm drawing.
>>
>>3106894
With a topic like this there's bound to be no correct answer.

If I had to apply one or the other approach to all people on earth, with the goal of maximizing productivity and quality, I'd argue that no-music would be more productive based on simple logic of less information for your brain to process should mean that there's more room to process the information that you're trying to put out (of course this is not how the brain truly works, but I feel like it's analogous), but on an individual level there's no other way to figure it out except for trying both.
>>
>>3106894
all asians listen to music while they do creative work. the thing is theres no creative thinking happening that would be impacted by music... asians do things a specific way that, in your words, doesnt really call for turning "on" their brain ever. there are no conscious decisions. just things theyve always done and stealing from other artists they have internalized subconsciously. the asian mind allows for this kind of process that results in art completely separated from the ego.

hope you enjoyed reading that drivel.
