>>3085977
I have no idea how long it takes for mega to sniff out copyrighted material, but it's always safer to assume that yes, it will be taken down, but who knows when. Could become a situation later on where it gets taken down, then you re-up it again on another account(?). Kind of like what happened to those book11, book16, etc. links.
You'd be a real soldier for upping those tho, m8. That's some real gud shit.

anyone know where to find steve hustons head construction series, I checked cgpeers but they didn't have it
>>3086156
So, this is from this guy parkablog's review on the book:
>The subjects covered in the book includes using good silhouette, defining form and volume, using perspective aids, adding props and backgrounds, color linking, different mediums and others. All these are tips and things to look out for. The lessons come with lots of self drawn examples from Mark McDonnell himself.
>Overall, the book provides really practical tips, although at times, I wished the book would talk more about posture of people in different emotions.
McDonnell's book could be a bit similar to their material, they've touched on those sort of subjects before, but his stuff sounds more storytelling/character design driven, and like he assumes the reader already knows how to draw and has a general grasp of anatomy, proportions, perspective, etc.
>>3085977
1. Put all of the books in your Mega account into a folder, and generate a link for it.
2. Register a temporary email (https://www.guerrillamail.com is a good one) and get a new Mega account.
3. While logged in to the new account, visit your old account, select everything, right click->import. This should copy everything to your new Mega account which you can safely share here. Even if it gets deleted, it won't affect your original account.

I'm going to try and purchase 5 and either 1 or 4 first... maybe add on #3, if possible. It'll be a while, but I'll definitely post when the opportunity presents itself my dude.

Never got around to reading either edition-- I've read that both are great material, either way-- and I can't find much information on what the difference between the editions are.
The inside of the 2nd edition says:
>This second edition has been carefully reviewed and revised throughout. Presented in a new larger format, it includes much-enhanced sections on key colour principles such as colour perception, visual structure, materials and techniques, psychological experience of colour, and colour composition in digital formats.
My guess is that it's neater, more in-depth, and more applicable for those who are using digital mediums than the first one, but I'm not certain.

Is there a good video series about the unholy fuck that is perspective?
>>3092714
The most popular series according to /ic/ are Michael Vandruff's and Erik Olson's series. Vandruff is way more casual and beginner friendly while Erik's approach is way more textbook-ish and is hella thorough (it can get a bit annoying after a while actually).
Scott Robertson also has a vid, Basic Perspective Form Drawing that gets tossed around a bunch, but the reviews are kind of mixed pertaining to his teaching style.
Personally I also liked Sheldon Borenstein's Perspective for the Rest of Us (very simplistic approach while drawing free-hand-- no rulers, no protractors, little to no mathematical lingo) and the Perspective Sketching course from ctrlpaint (really great exercises and straightforward videos that also touch on stuff like drawing ellipses, environments and organic shapes).

>>3092959
Compared to other figure drawing books, what do you think of it, anon? I've never seen it before.
>>3092714
Erik Olson is the best, it's long, it's boring (he even acknowledges it) but to be entirely honest there's no way around it, there's alternatives but you most likely won't completely understand it or it's not going to be enough. Watch and endure Erik Olson 1-10 lectures on perspective and I can guarantee that you won't ever have to deal with the tedious task that is learning basic perspective ever again. After that things like Scott Robertson or even Hampton's figure drawing books are way more fun.
Also if you are rich please buy a sub to NMA and tell them that you liked Erik's lessons, he is a great teacher but usually gets shoved in favor of MORE fucking figure drawing tutorials when he actually teaches something different.

Can someone recommend me a book/video on how to select colors for digital painting?
As in, I understand most lights mechanics and shit, my values are usually right but I'm a fucking trainwreck whenever I try to add color to that, making it look garish or weird or plain unnatural.

Exactly this. There needs to be a book in between. Norling's book doesn't have enough exercises in them while staying too simple, while Robertson went 100% methodical and make your brain go full retard. It's like going from kindergarden to highschool, in terms to difficulty. Is that guide made to kill the newcomers' motivation? because it sure seems so.
I've been looking at Vanishing Point and some other perspective books but don't know if it's worth the money. VP seems like a rehash of Robertson after skimming it a little but some people were saying that it's better.
I'll be back at my PC to check a perspective book that I've bookmarked from Amazon which got some neat reviews, not sure if it'll be worth the money but it's 11 USD.

>>3098466
>So why isn't there a /ic/ approved guideline like this if this one is "bad".
There is one, the beginner's essential books in this thread. Some additional advice:
Don't do it all in a year, but have a sense of urgency. If you're a complete beginner Keys of Drawing should go first, followed by Perspective Made Easy and Fun With a Pencil. The order of the rest is up to you.
You can't get better by just reading these books and doing exercises; you need to have focused, deliberate practice. You need to stretch the capacities of your skill every day. That might take one hour, four hours, or sixteen hours, it depends on the person.
In terms of material, you don't need much. A cheap set of art pencils and some ball-point pens will go a long way. When beginning to improve, I discourage anybody from using tablets in the first six-ish months.
Better alternative to "The Fastest Way to Improve"
Also, if anybody is interested, I could attempt to make a guide.
>>3098756
Just to add but as a beginner that tried to followed the guide but who got stalled at Robertson's book---that Proko and Bargue helped me tremendously at the early stages. They're easy enough to follow and don't demotivate you. For perspective, Draw a box exercises are good and suitable for beginners who are at the Perspective Made Easy stage but doesn't go any further.
As for the other anon who asked me about Vanishing Point, well I've checked it back later it's mostly rehashed information from Robertson (albeit a bit abridged and easier to understand) for imagination drawings. Robertson's book is still more complete in the sense that if you've got Rob's book entirely understood, you won't be needing any other ressources. (Also, I've got Rob's Perspective videos but these too are as hard to follow as his book)
I've heard back then that some anon had some success doing exercises from How to Draw Hot Wheels from Robertson which is targeted towards children, I will give that a look.
As for Keys to Drawing... it's essentially doctrine about Eyeballing (and some useless fluff about Grand Master's signature that I couldn't care about). Well but it was still kind of insightful if you enjoy reading books in general. I've gained far more from doing Bargue plates as they're actually exercises while that one's exercise... is not as good IMO as you can't really go compare the final result--- and beginners NEED to learn how to compare the final results to train their eyes (and Bargue is easier cause the initial stages got the lines simplified already so you won't chalk up some bad habits).
>>3097587
Please do anon.
I've been thinking of architecture books ever since Thomas Romain (animator) showed his workflow into how pro draws their background... where they don't do any kind of perspective drawing directly(freehand) but do the 2d plans first then use Ctrl T to put them in perspective. If I were to put it in the words of Vilppu... only tools... no rules, right?
