Hello,
Retired "hacker" here..
Well i learned a lesson.
Me as a dutch teen quitted hacking a while ago and after re-thinking about my dads draw talent i tried to draw my second 'serious' drawing.. with a meaning.
It's called guilt. Guilt is a wide term we all know. This is how i expressed my feeling..

Actually OP, artist's that draw G-rated material are much more popular than artists that just draw porn. You have to understand you can reach a broader audience by drawing sfw art.

Sadly most books I read turn out to be completely forgotten because the text is too long just to fill out the pages. They go on and on like an eroge dialogue box and everything feels tiring. I'd much rather learn from videos or short precise tutorials. Books have never been helpful for me.

How valid is pic related? I've been told when drawing giant characters to just keep the proportions at 8 heads tall just up the size of the heads but also I come across others who suggest adding more heads and keeping the head small just like here. Which is the right way to do it?

Study actual existing machinery--robotics, engines, planes, tanks, vacuum cleaners, etc.
A lot of it is designing cool shapes then hinting at some function and surface details like panelling, grates, screws, joints, different materials, serial codes etc.
Sparth actually has several tutorials both in videos and in his book where he talks about this. He'll do things like create a file of random small mechanical shapes and details that he will copy from and skew into perspective to put over his designs and add details and believability this way. He has other techniques too like using the smudge brush at 100% to stretch and push an abstract shape into a variety of other shapes.
