Hey everyone. I've been working on some figure/anatomy studies lately to try and get better at being spontaneous about drawing bodies. I've gone through Hampton, and I find that i have a difficult time figuring out what certain forms are "under" the skin. I've sat down and documented all the major superficial muscles and how they attach. But seeing it on an actual person, especially in funky poses, often confuses me.
These were done in about 3-5 minutes each off of various references. The top 2/3 were done from photos, the bottom 3 images were done from posemaniacs.
I think with photos, I'll often see shapes but not be able to identify exactly what muscle or ligament it's supposed to be.
I'd appreciate any critique or general advice.
>see shapes but not be able to identify exactly what muscle or ligament it's supposed to be
dude don't worry, very few artists know in such detail
your drawings are flat and /beg/, you just need to draw more
also no need to start your own thread
>>2770489
I actually wasn't totally sure about whether I was supposed to start a thread. What is the typical protocol for where you post?
>>2770491
Use the appropriate thread.
/beg/ is for you.
/draw/ when you get good
/alt/ for animeshit
I know that fanart is a great way to get exposure, but what do you draw fanart of?
I don't mind drawing fanart, but I don't feel the need to draw an existing character unless I am getting paid. I rather come up with my own stuff or draw a friend's original content because it's more personal.
and I don't even know what popular fandom characters to draw anyway.
what do, /ic/???
>>2768941
>All this mental gymnastics to deny you want to draw fanart.
Nigger. Just draw anything.
>>2768941
Draw whatever you're a fan of.
>>2768945
>All this mental gymnastics to deny you want to draw fanart.
I want to draw fanart but idk what to draw, or at least something I want enough to draw.
>>2768946
I am a fan of a lot of stuff but somehow I don't feel the need to draw them.
I just put up my artworks on these websites, teepublic link as below. Does this really works for artist / pure profit for the manufacturing company?
Poorfag here, any form of support is truly appreciated.
https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/919807-joe-schilling-stitch-em-up
I've been selling on them for a few years now.
> Does this really works for artist / pure profit for the manufacturing company?
Not sure what you're asking here. Yes, when a sale is made, you get a profit margin. The company keeps the rest.
Whether or not you're going to actually sell work is hard to say. You're either:
1. Bringing in your own traffic & buyers from off-site
2. Making sales from buyers browsing on-site
You can definitely make a decent passive monthly income, but its very hard to do and takes a long time to build up. A lot of it is luck (being featured helps boost sales), but a lot of it is creating work that is very appealing to a large amount of people. Success on these sites is NOT about creating the "best" work, but rather creating the "right" work that really clicks with people. Technical skill has little to do with it.
Let me know if you have any questions about them - I'm happy to help!
>>2768500
thanks for the insight and clear up.
Im in slight confusion since i have no sales yet. shared on FB & twitter, nothing happened.
guess i hafta give it some time as well.
>>2768905
Sharing on Facebook and Twitter only works if you have a large amount of loyal followers to begin with.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
OLD THREAD: >>2765192
This is probably a dumb thread, but does anyone know why Vilppu's store is closing, potentially forever?
>>2770061
Good, hes not even that good...
He's putting that all behind him and changing to anime drawing.

I like your ref, decided to give it a go.
Hi /ic/, I'm looking for some Christmas gift recommendations for a newer/amateur artist. Is there any sets or products that you would consider essentials or just nice to have? My bf just uses standard paper and pencil, but I would like to purchase him some nicer materials (paper/pencils/pens/markers/etc). Also I'm very lenient on the prices. Thank you!
That depends on how open he is to trying new materials, but a set of pastel pencils and some nice paper would be a good bet.
Or if he likes pens, get him a fountain pen and bottle of ink and tell him to stop being a pleb.
If you want to play it super safe, just better graphite pencils and a nice sketchbook. If he's a hipster, a set of Palominos and a Moleskine. Or for actually good materials, some Hi-Unis/Tombow Monos and a Hahnemuhle/Fabriano/Stillman & Birn sketchbook.
>>2769834
some of those nice squishy gray erasers because everything else sucks.
>>2769834
If he only has used pencils then maybe getting him a small set of watercolours would be nice. You can buy a few small brushes and either some nice pans or some small tubes. Then get a watercolour Moleskine sketchbook with it.
It's a bit more interesting than something like "nice" pencils which don't really feel all that different from normal ones especially if you are an amateur.
Also a Pentel brushpen is a fantastic gift. Everyone seems to love them.
What would a imageboard for art and artists look like?
What boards would you expect to see on there?
>>2768248
Oekaki by default for every post.
In fact, weren't there purely-Oekaki imageboards with special software which allowed users to replay the drawing at any speed and watch how it was originally drawn?
>>2768248
Just bought a awesome domain name from GoDaddy that would be great for a art imageboard but I'll reveal it later today. Here are the board ideas. Add on to them. You will be the mod for whatever you suggest if you show proof of experience. Thanks! Make suggestions where needed as I am a selfadmitted dummy!

I'm trying to learn oils right now and this is like a demonstration of every mistake I hope to avoid.
anyone here good at drawing with their opposite hand? I tried to do sketches with it, but it's very slow and wobbly. I want to be able to draw well with it incase I over-do it with my right hand, and want to rest it for 1-2 days but still be productive without risking injury.
>>2770101
You would need to train your hand by doing casual stuff with it, but it would take a long ass time. Just don't be autistic and use your regular drawing hand.
Dump your Photoshop projects?
I like to make stupid collages for my sound cloud songs
This was for a so called "vaporwave" song
did this a while ago

How do I draw like the old masters?
pic related
Studying the Ancient Masters.
In all seriousness though, you have to work your way back and find who they trained under the same way you do with ukiyo-e printmakers. A lot of artists came from lineages of assistants going back to Tezuka or Umezu, among others.
Or, if you have an encyclopedic knowledge of old manga, go back early enough and you can figure out who they were reading as a child and in their early 20s and piece their style together.
>>2768797
good taste.

Round faces and nose close to the mouth. Oh and don't forget the messy hair.
Critique harshly please
>>2768440
The color contrast is boring and typical
>>2768440
looks like something an algorithm made
>>2768453
Is that a compliment?
How do I fight with procrastination? I have been drawing a lot for 2 weeks then suddenly I stopped wanting to draw at all. I know the urge of drawing will come some day but I dont want to rely on motivation. Do I have depression? I just wake up and I cant do shit.
>>2768320
not gonna make it
>>2768323
I know but I have to work on myself anyway
Don't want to, or don't feel like it?
If you don't want to draw, then don't. If you don't feel like drawing, then do.
Choose to draw. It is your choice to draw.
