Post a piece of art you did in the past week. All skill levels are welcome.

I don't get these "post something you did in the last 5 minutes" type of threads. if it's good post it in the draw thread, if it's bad take it to /beg/
Lately I've been having pains in my wrist, similar syntoms to carpal tunnel, look for treatment and tips.
Fag1:
>Warm water and stretch a lot.
Fag2:
>Ice and don't move your wrist.
Have you people dealt with this shit? Suggestions? Will I ever draw again? Do I end myself?
>>2776514
since it's only starting, you should take a break for a few days. I started feeling symptoms of tendonitis a while back, didn't draw for 4 days, and it went away. I downloaded this thing called Time Out, which reminds me to stop what i'm doing every 15 minutes for 30 seconds, and to take a 30 minute break every 1 hour.
Cock up splints at night while asleep. Get the metal ones, they last longer.
Wrist stretches every hour or so while drawing. Every 2 to 3 when not drawing.
Start doing wrist curls and pronations with light dumbbells 3lb max.
Stop drawing for a few days to help encourage healing.
>>2776523
What stretches do you recommend?
How often shuold I do wrist curls and how many?
some guy shared it but didnt say by whom
No clue, reverse image search didn't pull up shit. But something seems really off about these.

I saw this on instagram recently actually, I'll try and find it in a minute.
Hello friends.
I want to start drawing. I want to do this on a computer. I barley even remotely know where the start, but I do know that I want to use a trackpad.
I'm an absolute beginner in terms of ability and plan to do simple art, probably no better than shit like what TG Weaver does, and I'm nowhere even near that sort of level. I can barley draw at all. This is for fun, not to get good.
What's a good trackpad I can buy? Something cheap but that won't infuriate me. Hopefully something with options and space to try shit.
(Attached pic is something I drew with my mouse a few years back. I'll attach one more pic just to make myself look a little less edgy. That's fucking it. No lessons ever in this shit, I just wanna draw for funsies. I don't need something that will let me do hyper realistic art or something. I just wanna do shit like this easily enough)
Also, when I say "Shit like what TG Weaver does", I don't mean his art is shit. I think his stuff is fucking fantastic. I'm just using the word "shit" like stuff. Not like garbage.
>tries to bump his own shitty bait multiple times
>nobody bites
if you're gonna bait people can you at least try?
Does /ic/ like Fred Perry? Personally a fan though his writing is meh as fuck.
pretty meh in general
I don't really like how he draws his characters but I like how energetic his stuff can be. It especially shines through in the animations he has made.
>>2776323
What is this from? Is it on his deviant art?
has anyone ever pretended to be a girl? did you start getting more followers on tumblr and more patreon bux as result? what kind of stuff do you draw?
serious question. tell me your story
>>2774005
I pretend I'm a girl all the time, but not really for anything art related
don't do the tumblr-fame thing myself but there is absolutely NO WAY IN HELL pretending to be a girl doesn't improve exposure and patreon bucks by atleast 33%. By the time you are famous and autists obsess over you and find out you're a fraud, you'll be sitting comfortably at 4k/month on patreon and won't give a fuck anymore.
if you do hentai or furries this is absolutely the way to go.
It'd be really difficult to work out whether women actually do make more as artists than men. You couldn't really do any kind of accurate statistical analysis because there aren't really that many great female artists compared to male artists... but I've always gotten the general sense that women get more attention online in a general sense, especially in social media, which would presumably translate to more tumblr/patreon followers or whatever for their art.
If I were to start doing porn for money... yeah, I'd probably assume a female persona, or at least keep my sex secret and let people assume whatever they want.
What are your favorite artists of all time, /ic/?
Mine is probably Adolph von Menzel. I really like his attitude:
>He was known to interrupt an important gathering by pulling out his sketchbook, sharpening his pencil, casting an eye around the room, and focusing on a coat, a chair, or a hand. This sometimes brought the proceedings to a halt until he finished. He preferred to draw people unawares, often catching them in unflattering moments of eating, gossiping, or dozing. Once his friend Carl Johann Arnold awoke from a nap to find the artist busily drawing his portrait. “You just woke up five minutes too early,” Menzel told him.

/r/ some "semi-realistic" art or studies of environments, objects, plants, or animals. Basically anything that isn't an overly rendered animesque girl.
Prove to me that semi-realism isn't just a shitty meme

have you tried, I don't know, GOOGLE. or literally ANY non anime website? or the thousands of years of human art history before anime was a thing. prove it to yourself dumb feels guy poster.

How many years did it take you to be able to draw a realistic looking body and face from imagination?
>>2775815
A lifetime
>implying there's something wrong with using reference
>>2775824
>implying it's better to leave baby wheels on your bike instead of riding it on two wheels.
How do you guys hold the pencil? What is the best grip? The tripod grip comes naturally to me, but the overhand grip offers more freedom of movement but I'm really clumsy with it. How much do you think it matters in the long run?
I do this or overhand with pencils and brushes. Saves my wrist.
>>2776163
Is it ok to trail the paper with your hand to give it support while you draw or should this be avoided?
>>2776153
Can we discuss this?
That kind of grip is only appropriate if you're drawing on a large canvas propped on an easel. If you're drawing on paper laid down on a plane it's really uncomfortable.
The rule to save your wrist is to keep it as straight as possible AFAIK
>Get told to read books all the time on /ic/
>Eventually realize the books are nothing without practice and constant study from references
>Studying from books extensively isn't going to cut it
>Decide to stop consulting them completely and see rapid growth in my drawing skills
what the actual fuck?
you don't need to make a fucking thread about it m8
>>2775225
>he fell for the books meme
>>2775225
Its actually the opposite. I was complete shit before I started taking tips from books. Now I am still shit but lesser than before. "Just drawing" is worthless if your technique is worthless.

Hello /ic/, any tips on choosing a good fountain pen for drawing, please? Does price make a big difference in quality or is it just for the looks? Is high nib flex the most important feature?
Also, general pen / waterbrush thread.
I'm deciding between these two, but I have a budget of roughly $100 -
>https://www.gouletpens.com/n17000/p/N17000
(pic related)
(low price for a 14k gold nib)
>>2772098
Why not dips?
>>2772130
>doing 30 second gestures
>dip a pen every 5 seconds
>spill the inkwell all over your shit
>kill yourself because you're never gonna make it
No thanks.
>>2772098
The Noodler's "flex" nibs are pretty shitty desu, and all the alternatives at that price point are equally janky. If line variation is important to you (I personally don't think it is) you'd be much better off with a dip nib, or at least saving up for a Falcon down the line.
For a lower priced starter pen I would look at something like a Faber-Castell Loom or a Lamy instead. If you want a gold nib for the lowest possible price there's the Platinum KDP-3000 desk pen. It's just about the finest nib you could possibly get short of a custom grind, if that's your thing.
At $100 you could get a really nice pen if you don't mind importing. Amazon.jp ships a lot of Sailor pens overseas, or you could get something like a Pilot CH91 or Custom 74 from j-subculture / rakuten.
With that said, price isn't really indicative of quality, it's about finding a combination of a reliable pen body and a nib that you like. I have a $130 Pro Gear that has the absolute nicest nib I've ever tried, and a $130 Faber-Castell Ondoro that dries out if left alone for a few days and has the same JoWo nib as the much lower-priced Loom. Lesson learned, I guess. There are turds in every price range.
