Post your art tips here, thanks. Traditional or digital
1. When drawing circles/ellipses, hold your pen(cil) almost perpendicular while drawing from the shoulder

Get em on board, i'll call it in.
pro tip: draw good
There are certain tricks they used to teach that aren't as common nowadays. Say you want to draw a chicken. Find a live one, your sketchbook, and a pencil. Ideally you'll have one strong light source and a lot of ambient light; a clearing in a thick forest is ideal. Pick the chicken up and examine it closely, noting little details like how the small feathers in the facial area compare to the tail feathers. While still holding the chicken, make direct eye contact with it and deny Jesus as your personal savior. Immediately kill it with the pencil. You can now draw chickens perfectly, but only with that pencil. This works for any creature that walks the earth, even man. The old masters could get away with a lot before the advent of modern forensics, and this is the biggest reason why modern art is so terrible.
What happened to him? Havent heard about this person for a while.
Did he draw anything Hillary related?

Say it, get it off your chest.
Whether you're a student, work in the ''industry'', a porn artist, or traditional painter, get it off your chest here.
keep it art related.

i just dont know.

When I draw porn for people, sometimes I get the overly chatty people that tells me they're going to rub one off after it's done.
Nobody likes me.
im garbage compared to my artistic peers
no matter how hard i try i dont get the recognition i feel i need. maybe i dont deserve it.
maybe trying to make friends with other artists was a mistake. i feel like ill never been seen as equals to them.
From who is this painting? I think it's Adolf Hirémy-Hirschl, but I gotta be sure
>>2769842
Trick question. It's not a painting.
Post your instagrams (art ones prefered, but aesthetics/photography is cool too) and share how you got into art, what you hope to achieve, what mediums you prefer, favourite materials to use, etc.
General art discussion and get some followers.
I'll start with my instagram.

Can we talk about Shad? He's getting better and better and better with each image. I'd go so far to say he's one of the best western porn artists now.
He's not. How the fuck is this shit even worth talking about?
the anatomy is okay, but the shading is straight up mediocre. not sure if its done on purpose tho
Everything about his work looks phoned in, but it's better than the same uguu animu over and over again
Ok so I got myself a cheap Huion and decided to test it out for real today. Decided to trace some image I found in the news. Anyone got advice on how to get better?
Wanted it to be under this name too ;_;
Stop shaking.

Did you install the drivers correctly and what program did you use?
I'm still looking for an old flash animation where they called sticky notes "stick'ums" and whalers on the moon was a running joke.
I remember the main characters being blue humanoids, one a girl the other a man. The premise of the stick'ums episode was something along the lines of "create something new" "I made stick'ums" "those are just sticky notes."
I've been searching for like 10 years to find it again.
Pic unrelated.

sounds like aspergers
Hey /ic/ I'm just wondering if anyone here has gotten loans to get their degree in animation and how easy/hard it has/had been to pay off.
Thanks.
- A fine arts grad who wants to get into animation.
don't do it unless you get into a top-tier program that the major animation houses recruit from. If you go elsewhere, somewhere that doesn't hook you up with a really good job, you will never pay off that debt.
If a place is like "yeah we get you a job" and it's a job with some podunk firm that does shitty commercials, don't do it. gotta be high-tier (though there are some firms that do commercials for big corps that pay well, but it'll be kinda soul-sucking).
How to filter schools: get in touch with alumni. ask them what the school's career process was, and how they're doing now. Don't trust the school's own stats on job placement; the people in charge of that just shove people into any old position that qualifies as an "creative career" so they can pump their numbers up.

try to apply for government grants, if youre in the US
What is the equivalent of getting a BA in fine arts without schooling? If I'm self taught, what would people in the industry be looking for in terms of qualifications or just work experience? Pic not related
>>2768657
the ONLY thing that matters is your art and your personality. in that order.
>>2768657
A rocking portfolio
>>2768657
There is no "equivalent". Nobody will care whether you have a degree unless they actually need you to have a degree, at which point you need to have a degree.
>in terms of qualifications
A degree is the qualification, if you lack it, you are not what they are looking for.
tl;dr: 98% of the time it's literally irrelevant, but in the other 2% you are useless to the employer without it
Does tracing over photos/over people's drawings teach you how to draw human features to proportion?
Reading Loomis and mileage does
>>2768385
If you actually look for the proportions while doing it, yes. But it probaly aint the best approach.
>>2768385
No.
alpha:
>sculpture
cuck:
>photography
>>2761682
Atoms
>>2761682
in terms of laboriousness, yeah
probably makes it that much more rewarding
>not a sculptor or a photographer myself
Architecture and sculpting is the most alpha. Creating, inventing and leaving a mark on the world is pretty alpha, but sculptors and architects do that the best: they have the most lasting legacy from the harshest materials to work with.

tfw the only contracts you've ever been offered are non paying...
>"would a huge promotional opportunity".
This game doesn't make any sense. and they're asking me to do free artwork. big no no. if you're a company starting off and you offer no wage or payment hard to take you serious.
>"Hello. We are currently developing a fantasy card game that we plan to launch in Summer of 2017. We are an indie game developer based in Seattle. We are looking for artists that would be willing to contribute art to our game. We cannot offer you any money as we are running low on company funding, however we will credit you and since your art will be in our game it would be a huge promotional opportunity. How much you would want to do for us is completely up to you. Let me know if your interest"
I'm not interested in the slightest bit fucking pathetic. No body is interested.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

This painting has all the answers to life
>digital artists should be hunted down like dogs and strung from city walls with their own entrails - Rubens
he didn't mean it LITTERALY you doof
So I was checking up on my good friend Matt and I was amazed at the new stuff he's got. I'm definitely interested in both his 3d starter kit and his colot starter kit, but I can't quite drop 110 bucks out of nowhere.
It got me thinking. With some help from my friends here at /ic/ we could collectively pitch in ten dollars each and put together a package for each of us to use. That way we're supporting Matt, not spending anything too ridiculous, and benefiting this art community right here.
I'll have the chance to actually purchase one or two of his videos to get the ball rolling...unless his stuff has already been uploaded for torrent.
