are there any artistic movements where the style of a child is imitated? I made pic related on Paint last night, is it pure shit with no real merit whatsoever? (it's an adaptation of a scene from the 2000 Disney movie "Dinosaur").
>>2770574
There's not really a child-like "movement", but there have been a few notable artists that drew in a child-like manner. It's usually the case of lack of development than an intentional choice though. Look up "outsider art" and "naive art".
>>2770574
well picaso once said
"it took me 4 years to paint like raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child"
>>2770574
if you cant put any meaning behind it, it doesnt have any meaning.
I'm trying to start a career as an artist, please can you tell me what I can do to improve my art? I am stuck using Microsoft Paint because I can't afford other programs.
>>can't afford
pencil and paper then
>>can't afford
piracy then
maybe googleing "free art software"?
read the sticky and use krita
Why does this appeal to normies but not me?
Maybe it's just me being autistic but if you look through the comment section you see people gushing over how FUN and PERSONAL this video is. I don't mind Proko's cringey humor actually, but I don't really care about knowing more about him. He's just a teacher at the end of the day. And I'd prefer if he would stick to his area of expertise. Why would I want tips from Proko on making comic strips when he isn't good at it? I commend him for bringing in a actual caricature specialist for his caricature course for example.
But normies eat this up. It's just like that screaming asian ADHD guy (forgot his name) that everyone thinks is "soo hilarious LOL!!". Nigga just shut the fuck up and draw. I love the way Jeff Watts explains things for instance. He is calm and straight forward with a little interesting remark here and there. But I guess that's not enough for the average person these days. Why does everything has to be so high energy and cute?
Proko's premium content is some of the best money you can spend on an art education.
This, however...this is something else entirely.
>having ugly little faggot dogs
smdh
Proko is a dork!
no bully
how long have youve been doing commissions? what kind of stuff do you draw? porn, furries, vanilla work?
tips and advice? how do you deal with bad or nonpaying clients?
how are your clients in general? any stories to share? whats the weirdest thing someone wanted you to draw
bitch/vent about it here
som bodi anser plis
I don't do a lot of commission work, unless it is by someone I can absolutely trust or is a close friend out of love.
Have you considered selling your originals at fairs or events? Or, have you already?
I don't feel comfortable doing corporate art or art that has any sort of malicious business.
I am currently investing my time in my webcomic, Mr. Face, which is on my website, woohoopoopoo.com.
The site is down at the temporary moment because there is something funky going on with the servers. No worries there.
I am also working hard on my children's book, which I aim to release by 2020. The book will be called "Further." The writing has small rhymes and descriptive nonrhyming paragraphs. I will be discussing aliens and evolution throughout the book.

Is the anon who recorded this:

still doing it?
If so, please post more of them! Especially the full color pages!
do you know he has a youtube channel? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPXUtUjog4s3fw8F5KpR6YSBCVmiHmLru

yeah but it's sped up and it doesn't have the latest color pages
Do people just do this for practice or do they think this shit actually looks good
Hey OP, can you explain why you don't think it looks good? : )
>>2762734
Not OP, but the artist is getting too caught up small unimportant forms and the technique of outlining the cast shadow and blasting the core shadow. It's a formula that they are poorly applying to an area that doesn't need it, creating a bubbly weird deformed knee for no good reason.
>>2762732
yes they do it for practice, you should try it sometimes
light and value may be fucked, but the anatomy is on point
I am what you'd call "an anime artist". And I want to quit that.
I quit college because I figured out this is what's best for me, and so far two work places rejected my portfolio because I draw anime. Fair enough, although I have a solid understanding of color and anatomy.
But I figured out I don't want to draw anime forever, I want to evolve further to a more semi realistic style and focus on sci-fi.
My questions are:
I'd like to know if you could please recommend any art books/materials to study cyberpunk themed concept art, or artists who go to such directions. I'd love to widen my knowledge in anything that deals with 'robotics/mecha'.
My second question: I want to start using photoshop instead of Sai. And I see many artists having this sort of 'brushes sets' that are perhaps tweaked? Such as "air brush" and "blending", brush preset I think? I'd like to know if I can download brush settings.
scott robertson has a bunch of books on hard surface stuff and how to draw, as for brushes you can look around here http://digitalbrushes.tumblr.com/
You should read a book called "The Prox Transmissions" and listen to the band "Starset". they help me get into the right mind when I write sci-fi.

who draw the picture you have in the background op
Do you feel sometimes, when you're studying, that you're trying to pull something with your hands when there's a motherfucking lever out there?
I mean, don't get me wrong, but here am I studying color, shading my spheres when I cross many artists that somehow "hack" colors.
I'm studying reality when the abstraction is so more appealing...
I don't have this illustration thing inside me. I'm not talking about portraits with all the color spectrum and highlights and hair that turns into colorful water. I'm talking about I don't know... I would never be this guy.
>that you're trying to pull something with your hands when there's a motherfucking lever out there?
Pull the lever anon, it's okay.

Does anyone own something like this? Wooden mannequins seem impossible to pose for anything that involves a lot of flexion.
I'm thinking of getting something like this for setting up references for comics.
What are good options for actually poseable mannequins?
>>2771287
Paying the neighbor kid to strip down and pose has been cheaper for me in the long run.
>>2771287
CHEATING.

I think he just wants to draw not get sent to prison.
who pretending to be drawfag to fuck chicks here?
>>2773179

Not sure of the specific painting, blurry as fuck. But it looks like a Klimt piece.

What does IC think of Michelle Czajkowski's art, not the artist herself but her work.

its ok. its cute but technical skills naaaah
zelda type stuff, thoughts?

Saw this from /v/ regarding Skullgirls/Indivisible and the hiring of new artists on staff:
> Most artists aren't extremely talented, so there is a lot of competition and in-fighting among each other.
>If you're a mediocre artist and you're in direct competition with someone at a similar level, calling them gamergator is an easy way to prevent them from getting into the industry. Way easier than trying to practice and create better art.
>Eventually everyone interested in a job in the field is brow beaten to be progressive. Everyone is afraid of making waves but will gossip and undercut people like crazy when they think they can get away with it.
If I want some kind of art job in related fields, is it really just that simple to just shut up about topics, period? I still don't get how far you can permit yourself on the slippery slope of engage with commenters/readers to build up an audience/clientbase/etc.
>>2768056
By not being involved as an artist at all.
If you were to get serious about art and wanted to make it, you put yourself directly into competition whether you like it or not. You'll have to tear down their dreams or be the one who gets torn down.
>>2768058
No I mean avoiding this messy affair of "getting into this identity politics and progressivism" thing among artists.
>>2768056
Maybe don't spout your beliefs and points of view out of every whole, every second? It's pretty easy to draw the line in the sand, and, when marketing yourself, keep your personal beliefs hidden. Even when you are asked about something, lie so you don't alienate the majority of the audience
Is photobashing an acceptable art technique?
>>2772921
The person buying the art decides if it's acceptable or not.
>>2772921
It's an acceptable technique to communicate an idea quickly in a work environment where you are being paid to do that. It's not really about art.
