Sycra has a video in which he says that one's art journey is like swimming through an ocean, and as you progress you find yourself in the middle of the ocean, anywhere you look you just see water around you. Its kind of how i feel like now. The stuff I wanted to achieve when I started drawing are pretty much all gone at this point, and i really don't know where to head now. How do you guys deal with this feeling? How could i find out again what I really want to achieve? Too many directions and you have to choose one. This stands for studies too, as you are getting your fundamentals laid down, there are more and more directions and I find it harder to choose what to learn about next because there are too many choices.

>>
Just get through learning the fundamentals first. Do exercises that help you build up on a few fundamentals per day. Make yourself deadlines to finish some, for others that are more important to your learning spend more time on them and work on them daily until you finish. Go for accuracy over all else for right now but if you can't fix something just work through it, you'll figure it out later.

Start with gestures, drawing what you see rather than symbols, value, form, and basic anatomy. These may take you a whole year of work to get good with but don't give up. Keep working daily.
>>
>>2768244
I think you misunderstood my question, i'm well into learning all these stuff, and i did not stop grinding them heavily, but the further i progress the more lost I feel, and I feel like when i get there it will be pointless to be there.
>>
>>2768246
Then if you're really past that point maybe you should do something creative or feeelance. Look into art fields you hadn't thought about before, maybe instead of portraiture you are more of a still life artist, who knows. Experiment, do something you enjoy.

I'm on the market for a stylus for my Galaxy S7.

I've been using the Adonit Jot(awesome, but delicate), and tried the Bamboo Omni(finicky detection, returned that piece of shit the same day).

What do you personally prefer for your phones/tablets? What has worked best for you?

The s pen is the best ive used. If you can afford it buy a galaxy note and use it instead. It has pressure sensitivity and doesnt have that weird disk on the nib
>>
Bumping because I'm also curious and have an s7

The note phones are a little hard to get right now, plus s7> note 5, I had a note 4 I loved but it died on me a few weeks ago

The S pen is cool and all, but only works for specific models.

i decide what to teach them, how many classes there are, etc etc
i've never taught anyone anything before. please help me /ic/. maybe we can turn this into an opportunity and give them actual skills that they might use one day if they wanna pursue art? or is that too much to lay on them?

He's caucasian, wears clothing, presumably has an occupation, is over the age of 14, and has slightly narrow shoulders.

His hairstyle ia a comb-over
>>
>>2766246
White middle aged male whose laughter lines suggests he made the right choices. His declining hairline presents his forehead as a symbol of wisdom. His basic clothing style hints a humble nature. The half-open collar represents his open mind and empathy, which is also mirrored in his broad smile. In showing his teeth the man asserts his dominance and that he has nothing to hide. Taking these observations into account, it's very likely that the depicted person is more successful in life than 90% of /ic/

Her art isn't god-awful, but it's really mediocre and generic. I'm speaking about BayleeJae, if anyone doesn't recognize the art, btw

The people who have skill and talent will look at her work, shrug, and continue doing what they do.

The people who know nothing about art will see her work, like its colourful, cartoony style and buy a postcard, bag or something like that.

The people who know a little about art, try to progress and try to become succesful but fail, and get frustrated because they can't see why they fail, will go to an anonymous image board and ask passive-agressively why someone else besides them is successful.

>>2768608
well, who cares really?
>>
>>2768608
No. not even she considers it good art, she knows she's mediocre. but her videos are nice quality and she appeals to young teen/tweens who like to draw.

What size am I meant to do copies of Bargue plates?

Can I do A4/letter sized printouts?

Some plates were originally 18"x24" and some are 28"x36", would it hinder me anywhere down the line to stick exclusively to these or A4 sizes only? Should I vary the sizes?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2766388
A4 is fine.

The skill is pretty much the same and carries over, but larger sizes can be more difficult as you have to draw from a distance and step back to check. Good skill to have, but starting smaller leads to better practice initially.
>>
>>2766390
Is it also best to do the plates completely vertical?

I'm guessing a flat surface parallel with the ground and the sitting position might lead to some skewing and distortion
>>
>>2766393
Vertical, or on an easel or drafting table if you value your wrists and can't into pic related.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?

>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.

How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?

>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.

Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?

>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

Pixiv added some kind of new Patreon like system to their site called "fanbox". A few known artists already created accounts on it, and interestingly enough, Houtengeki is among them. Like Patreon, you seems to pay each months to get exclusive stuffs, in that case, drawing process.

It's more about the fact that artists that usually doesn't do it will show their process for once.

And makes it easier if you want to support this kind of Pixiv only artists.

It looks really amazing. The fact that you can use any pen you want really sets it apart from other digital pens.

Still haven't seen any reviews though, so I don't know how well it works
>>
>>2767801
There's not really an erase or undo function. Well, the app has one, but at that point your digital sketch is going to be desycned from your actual drawing.

You'd have to work in purely in pen only for this to make sense, and even then, a scanner would be more useful.

Even if you want to use it purely as a control method, there's no pressure sensitivity, which makes it hard use if you digitally paint.

Not to mention if you look at actual video reviews people complain about dead spots, inaccurate lines, lines getting dropped, etc.
