>tfw you want to be a good artist because its the only thing that can make you happy in your miserable life
That's stupid.
A good artist isn't something you become.
You should want to be better.

I mean technical skills, I got brains for creative stuff.
Hey , i have been drawing for 4 years. Rate my art please
Pic of reference
I would probably kill myself if I were you.
What a sad troll attempt
No, I'm not a faggot that's gonna say "Loomis is a meme".
But I feel like his later books offer much more learning than Fun with a Pencil, if anything Fun with a Pencil feels like for someone that's an absolute beginner.
It doesn't really cover a lot of composition, it stretches out way too much on gooks, no suggestions on working with stuff like hands, draps, anatomy, and the composition is very limited towards gesture (which I learned much easier with Proko and Hampton).
Is it just me that thinks that his later books should be suggested for a more beginner-intermediare tier?
>pic not related
Fun With a Pencil is in now way an absolute beginner book, it could hardly be considered a beginner book even. It's cheesy as hell but it's a deceptively advanced tome that delves into many esoteric subjects like perspective before the book's complete.
>it stretches out way too much on gooks
That's racist!
>>2840910
No, you're not wrong. Drawing the head and hands is a much better piece for constructing heads, figure drawing for all it's worth is much better for manniekins, etc. But you never know where someone is when they start learning so it's better to recommend them the absolute beginner book that'll give them lots of practice instead of the novice books that might be 2 deep for them. Something like Figure Drawing for All It's worth in particular goes from drawing simple mannequins to very dynamic rendered sketches.
A lot of the art books that get recommended here go from 0 to 60. Stuff like Keys to Drawing and Fun With a Pencil are recommended as much as they are because they take it very slow, and because they focus on building good habits first and foremost, sometimes it's better to roll back to absolute beginner than think you know more than you do and keep your bad habits.
this is my first art ever . it stemmed from a desire to draw sprites and made me realize it might just be easier to start there since its typically a bit less detailed. how terrible am i?
It's definitely sprite-sized.

You're not good at all.
hows that
I've got a map on my tattoo and i've marked the place i live... what more could i mark on the map? Should i mark my first GF and the place i tried to commit suicide? please come with ideas!

>i tried to commit suicide
better yet, try again and don't fucking fail this time, loser.
Is it okay to hire an artist to finish another artist's work if they don't finish it and it's been paid for?
>>2840924
dont expect it to look the same
I've been watching a lot of artist streams recently on YouTube and other sites to see other people's practice and technique. I've noticed a lot of times the artist streaming gets very little to no real work done.
Is this normal?
>>2840771
It just looks that way, in reality art is slow and youngins think it's all speedpaint.
>>2840771
>>2840774
This. I've made a few paintovers for people via screenshare and video myself. You tend to work slower when you're trying to think about how you do what you do and then put it into words, because after a while the action hotkeys you press and the like just become muscle memory.
>practice
As for this take into account that when they are studying, they are trying to take IN information. You don't learn as much doing ebin 20 minute speedpaint during lunch break xDDDDD
>>2840774
I guess I should take time to watch some streams then, I always have the urge to finish up work way too quickly, hopefully watching others drawing will alleviate this somewhat
Be real with me /ic/, is the 12hrs a day meme real? I know FZD students have posted on here about how they suck Feng's dick and push 14-17hrs daily and pass out from exhaustion. And looking at the FZD student work it is really good.
But will I really make more gains pushing 12-14hrs a day instead of 6-8? Can FZD students really put in 12hrs of deliberate focused work every day?
6 hours a day.
i started digital painting 7 years ago. i spent prolly 6 hours everyday. maybe a little more some days.
come at me
>>2837942
They can because that's close to what's going to be required of them in the industry. It's competitive and fairly high-stress, why wouldn't you push yourself to be the best you can be in a field that small?
OOOkay guys. What's his end game gonna be?
This guy is insane!
>>2837780
Fuck off Feng, everybody is tired of your weekly shilling. Go exploit some artist for money or whatever you cunt-eyed dicks do in fascist utopias.
>>2837780
Considering he just started FZD films and sounds like he's got something hype going on. He should be James Cameron or even above level in a year or so. I think his films are coming out this year.

... Good.
Thank you for watching!
That was quite entertaining, if i was popular i'd advertise it.
What kind do you use to scan your drawings?
epson perfection v19
"Perfection" is really only in the product name, but it gets the job done.
I'm using a Canon LiDE 120.

im using your mom
Hey d/ic/ks, how do I stop hating my art, and by extension myself?
by being shit at it.
that makes more sense than you probably know.
>>2840743
Don't be critical of yourself, be critical of your art.
>>2840743
if u don't hate your art how can u get gud at it?
Fact. You cannot.
I have the answers.

Don't kill yourself anon, at 12 you have a long life in front of you.
Working on this kid's design for my game (A Near Dawn) - now the real question is Pokemon or SpongeBob reference?
CARLOS
Pouch Master
Neither, Referencing other stuff is annoying.
Any good artbooks on (imaginary)
>cityscapes
>architecture
>landscapes
>environments
?
Specifically interested in pic related, some ghibli kind of landscape painting (based god Naohisa Inoue), rather modern cities like e.g. mirror's edge's city (I doubt any books on stuff like that exists though) or maybe some victorian gothic type of architecture/cities like the one from bloodborne.
Artbooks as in to remove my stupidity in drawing them would be great, but I'd love to just have some art or artists related to such themes posted in this thread.
check out the art books for tekkonkinkreet. the black ver. has concept art and the white ver. has finished background plates like pic related
it's good stuff
??
this is a weird question.
are you asking how to use your imagination or how to actually draw? if its the former, no book will teach you that. if its the latter, all you need to know is perspective and then just use pictures of japanese cities as references. japanese artists are probably very creative and imaginative at making these pictures because they grew up in big japanese cities and have internalized their impressions of it.
when you talk about victorian or gothic architecture, again, you don't need "art books" you just need references to draw from. if you want to know the details and reasoning behind constructing these sorts of structures (which I doubt is necessary) just look for regular books on architecture at your library.
or how about just walk around your own city or town and draw inspiration from that?
>>2836018
Sorry, I'm terrible at explaining my intentions
I was indeed thinking of books that specifically focus on the themes I was talking about, but not only as in art lessons, but also in a general collection of art. Similar to what
>>2836013
Posted. Explanations for the technique behind bringing the reference to paper would be great, but I assume what you said is right, it's nothing more than learning perspective. I don't really know what I was expecting desu.
Either way art for themes related, is still very interesting to me.
Aside from that do you know of any books that teach on perspective quite well?
