Do you have the PDF?

So let's say I want to be an artist (illustrator) who focuses on fantasy/medieval things, what exactly do I have to know in order to be that guy? For example I have to know how to render metals, glass, clothes, water and fire, because those are everywhere in that kind of stuff, what else? Is there a guide strictly for fantasy artists wannabes?

You learn as you go man, stop worrying about what you don't know yet, you'll find it out as you get better at drawing. Just focus on drawing fantasy stuff and look up references constantly.
>>
>>2840016
If you learn how light and color works at a fundamental level you can approximate any material, and if you want it to be really accurate, then that's when you find a reference. You don't need to learn it all at once.

It's a blogpost from Greg Manchess where he goes over exactly this topic in detail.

Alright this might be a little complicated I believe, but I'll attempt to explain what I mean exactly. I absolutely adore the art that combines what i said in the threads title. Macabre/pretty; dead/cheerful; sad/beautiful in this very special style. I have not found an artist who specifically works on such ideas, though I still have found some examples of what I mean:
>Fran Bow (videogame) dollhouse
Here's a video about the specic scene (I have not found one without commentary) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N96gTLfIL5c everything looks extremely corny, though when she takes the pills it may be flooded with all these dark scary figures (ofc even without the pills dead bodies are still there). Really like the contrast in style there, you wouldn't expect 2 sewn together babies in such a place. The entire game is a good example though, pic related shows a friend of yours (friendship/death) quite well represents what i try to talk about.
>little big planet (wedding reception)
This is a perfect example of what I mean https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WUJBTPVFNJs
The confrontation& combination of dead creatures, death itself, dark gloomy surroundings, but also bright positive neonlike colours, and happy faces. The entire theme of death/wedding also fits into this. I get that this is related to the day of the dead, which is a concept that also very well represents what I'm talking about (as in death/celebration), though I never found pleasing art concerning that day.
Either way, if anybody can relate to what I feel or understand what I'm talking about and knows of an artist who works in such a way I'd highly appreciate it being posted here. I love art like that, i have no idea why.
>tl;dr

is such a thing even possible?

you try to mess with your opponents drawing and make yours better

the victor is determined by an odd number of judges

I made a card game called Art Collectors. You have a judge and 3 or more collectors pitted against each other in a collection and auction game
>>
>>2839400
I hate any card games that involve subjective judging, but a non-california game just about messing with a drawing sounds fun. Maybe just include a 30 second or 1 minute timer, and use that to limit how long each player has to draw.

How much work can I expect to get out of an artist for my money? Say a comic book artist, specifically? Do I need to contact an agent to meet big name talent or can I just call 'em up and say, "Hey you fruity hobo, how'd you like some beer money?"

Is drug addiction a thing with artists? Do I have to pay extra for someone who's not always strung out on drugs or has an ounce of professionalism?

95% of /ic/ hasn't been drawing for 9 years.
And the reason a lot of people shit on him is because of his more recent forced stylistic decisions.
I actually liked Sycra's stuff before he started forcing this pointy meme shit.

We know that there can be no 'best' in art. Its a subjective notion. But what could an artist conceivably do to convince a majority of people that they were indeed the best? what can one do to surpass all that have come before him? Also who is in your opinion the 'best' or one of?

Be charismatic, eccentric, social as fuck and active. And sell a shitload of art for shitloads of money.

Literally nothing about your actual art can convince the masses you are the best.

And even then, your status, if any, will only last until a fresher guy appears to woo the masses.
>>
>>2830972
fair points, but could the combination of showmanship and technical ability do it? I dont see anyone in the industries that have both going for them, and there are artists that sell a shitload at high value and no layman knows their name. I admire banksy for his high end value whilst still connecting with the working man. And its true that status only lasts so long, but Picasso did a damn good job of cementing himself, no reason to say someone couldnt do more

If you got 1% better every day for a year, you'd be nearly 38 times better than you are now.

According to muh university this is needed for design. My problem is it just loses creativity its literally copying shit

I inderstand the need for speed but when youre fucking copying and pasting shit thats not creativity, its fucking cheating you mongoloid

You wouldnt write an essay and copy and paste paragraphs from someone else so why the fuck would you do this?
