Fold, pose fabric in real life, on a chair, see what it does, even better if you have a mannequin.
I just do studies of that and look at other artists work at the same time, see how they painted what I am trying.

How do I pull off this grain/airbrush effect I see in a lot of illustrations? I don't really do lineless art that often but want to pull of this look. Is it just gradients/layers with added noise? Pastel brushes? Is there a term for it?

and yes it's just overlay layers and or filters.
You can download a noise image online and then overlay is and use an airbrush eraser to remove the parts you dont want.

Go in Photoshop. Take your basic airbursh change the filter on the brush at the top from normal to dissolve. Boom you got the cool grainy airbursh brush effect.

Try painting a perfectly uniform surface with oil paint. It's really hard. Artists like mondrian and malevich were very skilled but most people on this board can only appreciate video game concept art :(

cant find an answer online. when painting an object in a dark room like this with a blue light source, do i paint the object as i would normally but mix blue into the colors? would brown leather be mixed with blue or would it just be depicted as dark blue? i guess what im asking is if it would he monochromatic or not.

If there is only blue light, the only color you will have is blue.
Blue is a primary color, so no other colors can appear out of blue light. Objects reflect certain wavelengths (or colors) of light and absorb others. For instance, black objects barely reflect any light, while white objects reflect almost all light. Things look like a certain color because they reflect that color back to your eyes.
Going back to your question, objects that absorb blue light will appear black. Also, the bluer the object, the lighter it will seem. Keep in mind the additive primaries: red, blue and green. Any object that does not have blue in it will look (almost) black, such as apples and oranges. Lighter colored objects will tend to look more blue, so a light yellow banana will be lit up.

My friend told me about a local drawing course, that costs 160 euros, takes 3 months.
Lessons are once a week, 4 hours, and includes figure drawing from a model and other fundamental drawing exercises.
This is about 1 month of wage for my dayjob.
She told me I could realy benefit from it.
Do you guys think it's worth it?
