Some guy literally copied what Miles does down to the pencil strokes, got to the front page, and hot on his heels with the 47 upvotes after 6 hours is Miles with his own artwork.
Let this be a lesson to you: If you are an illustrator and all you do is illustration it doesn't matter how special snowflake you think your art style is some younger artist is come along and do what you do better.

Miles is many leagues above that guy in terms of skill though. Keep in mind Miles also do most of his work purely without reference, the upvoted drawing is essentially a photo copy with some additional flair

Hi /ic/ i quit art. everything tied to it. my passion has dwindled down a long lost hole of nothing.
i'm in my mid twenties and I've been drawing since i was a kid. been into digital painting since 2010 and i'm pretty damn good. during those 7 years i thought i could make it. maybe land a small gig in a studio doing animation/illustration work. that was the only reason. i was so determined. i had potential.
but alas i have reached this age. only to be without any job in that industry. now i'm more focused on building a career. a noble career...
don't make the mistakes I made. Don't pretend to work for someone.

Help anon out. I'm working as a customer support, and while there's times when there's no volume and I get to sit around and watch paint dry, I'm looking for video courses that I can simply watch meanwhile. And yes I have access to Google and the whole web to research, so no limits regarding that. Only issue is I can't download, as It's a chromebox and I'm at work. So what online courses can you recommend me.

Right, I probably should clarify what I actually want. Don't know if gyazo is filtered, I'll post again if it is.
The character I want to comission is a black woman in her late twenties. I've just found a reference picture that pretty much has the skull/face shape that I want (https://i.gyazo.com/5cfa04c6fcce4364af18d84eb19888c6.png). Also, I should probably clarify that I want an actually dark skin tone, not Beyonce black. The hairstyle is either like on the picture, or a short military-style buzzcut, I don't really care which.
Clothes are that of 1920's working class, I've got a pretty good reference picture for that too (https://i.gyazo.com/6d2244f5d8a2d4b9dfe065dcc3ed85c5.png). Except for the hat. I don't want the hat.
As for the pose, she should be sitting on the edge of the table, smoking and trying to relax. Fingers of her other hand are clinching a police badge (perhaps, something like this - https://i.gyazo.com/22647945a1689c5a70efe731cfcf22c8.png). Facial expression is tired and grim - she just had another bad day, she's fresh from a fight and she's probably wounded.
The table that she's sitting on can have a few newspapers hanging from it, a cheap desk lamp (reference picture yet again! - https://i.gyazo.com/60986289b35c07c90418573915e41375.png), definitely a bottle of whiskey, an old-timey revolver, something like that.
Feels pretty exciting, to be honest.
