How can I paint like this?
>>3120434
Study paintings with good composition.
Go outside and paint
Spend 20 hours on each painting
A decade of practice (oils, plein air) wouldn't be a terrible place to start
But I know artists with three times that experience who aren't anywhere close Boedges
>>3120434
Just try and don't stop trying. That's it. Those paintings are from scenes in real life so there's really no excuse
this is a ghost character i made
what is your opinion on it
>>3120328
I think it should be spookier
Give it big sharp teeth
>>3120328
blog?
Need help, my mom wants to know who this female saint is. I am clueless. Anyone?
Mary?
>>3120226
Given the lack of attributes, .. it's hard to tell.
My guess would be St. Catherine of Alexandria, but that's a pretty wild guess.
Try /his/ instead of /ic/.
>>3120231
Will do, figured both was worthwhile.
need some critiques with these wip furballs
>>3119984
Very neat idea, I need to practice hair I think.
>>3119984
You're not giving the impression with either value or perspective that it's a sphere. It just looks like you painted hairs that fill in a circle.
Determine a light source and adjust values. To give the illusion of a sphere you also need to make the fur recede into space as they curve around the form of the sphere. Pic related. Look at his jaw, do you see the outline of it because of his beard hair? The hair wraps around the form of his chin and at the jaw, we get a look of density because it's layer after layer of hair as -- through perspective -- they seem to be condensing as they reach further into space. Now this mostly applies to the shortness of a beard stubble but the same rule applies for longer hair and fur.

Are there any good portable screen tablets for less than 500 dollars?
Would it be better to just use a laptop with a normal tablet?
I think the old model of ipad pro is 550. The apple pencil is worth 100. Maybe you can find them used for less than 500 total. Then you get something to draw on and a tablet pc.
>>3119582
>drawing on a fucking tablet computer
Thinkpad x220t is supposed to be good value
I want to copy an old master painting to the best of my ability.
Can we have an old master thread?
Also post anything you have copied!
How do i improve my cartooning and overall drawing? I dont need to be a master, i just need to draw people and monsters so they dont look like scribbles
>>3117847
Seriously? I think it looks pretty good on it's own, i like the bird. How did you get so good? Do you have a blog?
>>3117847
>I dont need to be a master
why are you here then, fuck off
>>3117847
Wow, u got a patreon?
hey ya lil stinkers.
how do I not make her look like a cross dresser? excepting paint overs thank you.
>>3117601
That thing's beyond redemption. Go back to human figures; especially proportions.
>>3117687
lmao. damn. im just done.
>>3117601
Fix the titties, the left one is chillin beneath her armpit right now. That and the left leg and it'll be decent. Godspeed senpai.
A theme I've recently noticed on here is that creating art should be an enjoyable activity by and large (pushing through a bad day here and there), even if you do it professionally. I want to get to a place where I enjoy drawing more. Maybe there are others too.
What have been your experiences related to finding more joy in what you do?
>>3116173
shouldn't you enjoy it naturally?
>>3116185
I do. I drew lots as a kid, and to this day, but periodically there's long stretches where I drift into a miserable state and I stop drawing altogether for a while.
>>3116185
>muh inherent naturalistic meme.
art like anything else is something you learn to enjoy. it's based on ideas and knowledge, not genetics.
>realize I'm NGMI
>Have son who I force to learn art from an early age
>dictate to him what to draw as long as he is made to feel obligated from a history of emotional neglect from his otherwise kind father
Anything wrong with this plan?
How to properly raise kids to be great artist, /ic/? What would be your ideal plan? Start having them draw at age 2?
As soon as he/she comes out of the vagina put a pencil in their hand, grab their hand, and push their hand in circular motions on a sketchbook until it screams bloody Mary. Tell the doctors it is necessary before giving the baby back to them.
why don't asians ever do this? Its always just piano or violin. Why not drawing?
Is being a perfectionist the best way to get good fast? I scrapped my entire bargue drawing today because it wasn't perfect and I feel like doing it again but better. What are limits? How can you push without getting burned out?
Anyone can scrap a project. The ones at the top finish what they start (i.e. create viable products).
I find it's much more rewarding to finish pieces the best I can, even if I can see problems with them. I can always find mistakes in my work, but I try to learn from them. There is value in pieces you may dislike because there is usually something about them you do like. You have to like the process as much as the finished product.
If you want to learn quickly you have to surround yourself with others with who also make art. It makes for friendly competition.

Perfectionism is a form of dukkha
Le serment des Horaces of Jacques Louis David is my favorite, i really like postures of the characters ; this with the composition resulting on a global impression of monumentality ima
There's so many I like but definitely on my top 5 is The Madonna with the Long Neck by Parmigianino. I like a lot of artist who distort the human figure El Greco, Ingres, Dali, etc... and in this painting nothing is in proportion, oversized baby Jesus, huge mary, long neck, long curved fingers, and so on, not because Parmigianino couldn't do proper anatomy and proportions but he is purposely manipulating all these elements for elegance and his using size for symbolism. Jesus is the most important figure so he gives him the largest size, followed by Mary and then the angels.
My personal favourite.
also, holy shit saved

Drawing cute girls is the pinnacle of art

i made one of these out of a mcdonalds first aid kit box for free. mine is more durable because its made of metal. dont waste your money
>>3111993
Why is every artist shilling this? I think Ahmed aldoori made a video, jake Parker did a thing about it, peter Han posted about it and even Kim jung gi did a drawing with it on his back.
>>3112029
Probably just paid promotion but nobody has done it with artists so people don't care to put "PAID PROMOTION" in their titles like big youtubers
Does anyone that work with ceramics bother buying or building their own kiln for personal use? Thought about looking for used fire brick(cheapest could find) myself, and make my own using an online vids or guides.
[spoiler]Anyone on this board like sculpting in general? Not just with clay. But with wax, or sculpy?
>>3105729
i did try and make one, it didn't work very well, couldn't get it hot enough, i was trying to work up to lost-wax bronze casting, but i assume i would burn myself alive somehow after the poverty kiln sucked.
>>3105729
I might know more about kilns and ceramics than anyone else who semi-actively posts on this board. Are you looking for advice? Camaraderie?
>>3105776
are you the guy who did those like tiles with pictures of girls on them and some weird piece of filth?
