Get to hang out with a ton of cool artists on discord.
>>3112116
Non existent. Used to do the discord thing but then I figured it'd be better for me to be completely alone then to have "online friends" who I don't really know and who don't really care about me.
>>3112116
I have zero social life. and that's perfect for the route to making it.
has anyone use this ruler to draw in perspective?
>>3116684
how is this supposed to work?
Thats some weaponized autism right here
I like how the picture they're drawing is the thing you'd draw in math class using a single protractor.
I'm so sleepy /ic/ but I have just barely started my daily drawing. Coffee doesnt help either.
On the side, drawing is fun, but "learning" to drawing is boring as fuck. Can you guys multitask while draw? like listening to music, news, semi-watch a show?
I sometime open stream of other artist who is also drawing, which sorta help, but im beginning to run out of anything else to enjoy.
>>3116667
Learn to enjoy the process or else you will end up struggling for years and resenting art until you eventually lose the willpower and quit.
>>3116667
You can watch tv shows and youtube vids that you are not too interested in.
You can also listen to podcasts and music.
I like to do these things to get me started on drawing. I also might voice chat with people on discord.
I have a subscription on New master academy, I cant really multitask much because the video doesnt have subtitle. Steve is a good teacher, but his godamn voice is so sleep inducing.
>Tfw the art education in my country is so poor that students think that you only require practice and no method to learn how to draw properly. Everyone calls me a perfectionist or a wannabe architect when I ask to learn the proper drawing methods
How the hell do you wake these people up?
you dont, you just tell them they arent gonna make it.
why make more competition for yourself anyway.
>>3116584
You got a point and I figured someone would reply something like this. But it is frustrating and unreal how a lot of people don't treat drawing as something that can be mastered and studied like any other art
>>3116589
yeah . because they are stupid and make excuses for themselves.

I was never really a writer. I have never had any desire to really become one and still truly don't, but recently I came up with a story and began to write it down. I really enjoyed doing it, and now I would like your help critiquing it. I would deeply appreciate it. :)

Not bad though. Also, the call of a deer is known as a bleat, or bleating. Godspeed senpai.
General for advice and discussion on shows, jobs, and miscellaneous opportunities, as well as letting anons know where they'll be able to find some of your work
Post what you're in right now, or what you're planning to do in the coming months.

I've noticed a lot of art associations have "Holiday Shows" where people supposedly buy small gifts for Christmas. Have any of you guys had success at these things? I haven't found art associations are a good place to sell ANY work, so is it worth spending a month on smaller paintings just to have an inventory to show at multiple holiday shows?
Also: What sells at Christmas. I've been doing small (8"x10") still lifes in oil, is there a better subject matter for holidays?

Planning on making a portfolio full of webcomics

don't let your dreams be dreams

Not if you just keep drawing white people and posting outside of the beginner thread
youre already better than illastrat so yes
>>3115165
Not a beginner, drawing for 15 years.
white people? so you could tell what they were? that's promising, eh?
What software does /ic/ use?
Illustrator CC
Photoshop CC 2017
Any photoshop will do that job though really. Used Photoshop Cs4 for the longest time
Clip studio paint only
Soon to be animation major here, been looking at laptops for university. Will a 8gb ram, 512gb ssd,i7 laptop suffice?
I've been looking at macbook pros/surface laptop/dell xps but would like more advice on it.
Also programs that i'll probably run will include maya, adobe, zbrush etc.
>maya, zbrush
No
You need at least 16GB
And a very very good GPU/CPU to handle rendering.

this
get a gaming laptop
>>3114865
Get a good desktop instead of a laptop. If you're doing 3d you want all the power you can get. At work I have a decent graphics card and 32 gigs of ram and still it struggles for things.
Got a bunch of wyches to paint (wh40k), watching youtube tutorials, putting my brush in a bit of water, putting the paint on a makeshift pallet (my notepad), but I keep running into this problem, I'm using a fine brush and as you can see, the red for the hair keeps going over the skin.
The skin keeps going over the red... how do I do this? Any tips?
By the way I'm new to painting these.
The brush I'm using

While color theory is definitely /ic/, your main issue is applying the paint. I'd suggest a grey primer, or, alternatively, priming the figures black and then applying a light coat of white primer on top - this method makes it really easy to apply any color in thin layers. Unless you want to get really good at painting miniatures, mid tone base colors, a wash and some highlights will do fine. I bet /tg/ can help you out more, as very few people on /ic/ paint with acrylics.
>>3113856
I've already applied the black primer, but yeah, I'll take a look at tg later, thanks for the suggestion :)
Question, this is the only place I could think to ask. Is there a name for the type of line work used in this image? Sorry for quality its the only example I could find. The lines are a little wobbly and change in thickness, I've always wondered what the method to do this is.
holy shit
Tracing
Bert Dodson's style.
does this count as art?
no.. I've seen this done in the exact same style by a fuckload of instagrammers
only by pseudo-normies who will work at zumiez for the rest of their life
Have I finally achieved the Disney style? If not why?
this is one picture tho
YOU DENIED US YOUR BRUSHES, OP, FUCK YOU.
What are some traits that are considered a must have for a succesful artist? Who would "the ultimate artist" in today's world?
Be left handed is number 1.

Why do so many have a hard on for Vetyr? Maybe it is just 1 guy, can't tell. I just read Vetyr Vetyr Vetyr in a lot of the threads here.

I assume some anon is waiting for someone to shit on her from all his shilling.
Her art is not very good, especially for her age. Now that you got your hatepost from shitposting her ypu can fuck off OP
