Remember when AMD was actually competitive and most of /g/ was still building for the first time?

I miss those days.
We all miss 'em.
I know that feel OP.

Remember when people accused nvidia of gimping older cards like kepler but really AMD gimped hd6000 and hd5000 instead?
Good times.
Okay /g/, I'd post this in /sqt/, but this can't be a stupid question.
I've been racking my brain here for hours. Since this is a long story I'll skip the bullshit and get straight to the tl:dr
I have a few init scripts that use GNU screen. Neither of them are working. The way they aren't working is different. Both operate fine if run after boot. If run during boot, one of these (irssi) seems to run, but terminates unexpectedly. By the time I can log in, there's no proof that it was running in the first place save for a single line in /var/log/boot.log claiming the daemon started successfully.
The second (discord musicbot) creates the screen and doesn't terminate prematurely, but whenever it's run at boot, the socket file is deleted, resulting in my inability to access it.
The irssi script worked fine until some time after I tried adding the other script.
Please help me figure this shit out /g/. I'll stop shitposting for a month

;__;
TL;DR: screen init scripts fucking up. pls help
>>55926786
May wanna ask Lain, she seems to know more about these things than /g/.
Honestly, I have no idea as to why the scripts would terminate themselves, this shit works fine for me. Maybe write a single script to exec them post-boot? It seems that the problem was just having both of them run at boot time.
Hope I could help :/
Well i got this old Android(tmoblie gsm) and i was wondering if anyone here knows of any ways to get into the services (without use of the company or paying) to make use of the phone.
Pic Very Unrelated
What you're talking about would be a Felony.
No one will tell you here...
Ringplus. They have free plans. I managed to get 4000/4000/4000 for $40. Will never have to pay again.
Windows user here. I want to get into using Linux. What distro should I install first?

>i7-6700k

Fuck Intel. They are such jews. $300 has always been baseline price for the high end processors since the Core 2 Quad days. Every year the next generation comes out and that would be $300 and the last generation would decrease in price.
Now I'm seeing my 4770k still sell for over $280, while the 6700k, which is a year old, is $350 or more.
I want to upgrade to dual m.2 drives but Jewtel gimped the Z87 and Z97 chipsets and only allowed one m.2 and one USB 3.0 connector while the next generation offers more. They purposely did this
Notice the release of the GTX 1070, and RX 480 cards and how they destroy and devalue the last generation of graphics cards? That's called healthy competition. Processor competition is dead thanks to jewtel and their monopolistic practices and AMD being such cucks for muh cores.

What is /g/'s experience with phone phreaking? Did you do it? What sort of equipment did you use (blue box, red box, etc.)? Also general phone phreaking discussion.
Aw shit my dad used to do this. Never asked him about it unfortunately
>>55926564
Did he do it when you were a kid or anything? Do you remember anything specific?
>>55926553
Blue Boxes don't work for a few decades anymore.
I have done your pic related for prank calls with friends when drunk.
Are thinkpads a meme?
They're certainly cheap for used ones.
they're good if
1. you're planning to run linux
2. you're not going to do anything heavy on resources
3. you like functional design
4. you want to look cool to lonely males with deep psycological malfunctions on 4chan
I have one that I use for college, it's p convenient and comfy

What model do you have? Is it a T series?
Yes they are memes but pretty fucking good memes.

I shit my pants then masturbate while crying over my liquid feces
be surprised that a Windows XP window manager was installed on my beautiful gnu/linux distribution.
So, I bought a pre built gaming PC, and before you judge me, you must know that I had no other choice because building a pc here will cost the TRIPLE of the same build if in a first world country, anyways, it's a humble config, i5 2500k, and a gtx 580 which is surprisingly good, and was capable of 1080p gaming in some instances, BUT, it gets so hot, I'm talking about 92°C in the max and a minimum of 82°C, it got me worried honestly, I figured out the case is the problem because, IT'S A DAMN PREBUILT AND HAS ONLY ONE REAR EXHAUST FAN, any solutions, precautions, advices? pc is acer predator g5910
>>55925834
I'm going to say something possibly stupid, but you didn't mention it.. have you cleaned out the heatsink fins with compressed air? We had an old athlon thunderbird machine that reached those kinds of temps and beyond.. got so bad it refused to boot. Check your thermal paste too, might need replacing.
Combined with age and that kind of heat stress for long, probably.
>>55925834
>GTX 580

I swear I'm not joking when I say this is actually normal. The 400 and 500 series cards were nuclear reactors when it came to heat dissipation.
You definitely want to consider upgrading the GPU.
