Why do people get angry when I tell them I want to build a PC out of old parts?
You can get more performance per dollar out of components that are a few generations out, used.
I am fucking POOR. What is your problem? I don't care that it draws 10W more power.
I'm not trying to sound off putting or aggressive here, I'm legitimately curious why it bothers some people so much that I would, say, purchase a 2-3 year old processor.
The only reason I ask is because this seems to be a VERY common thing for people to get upset about.
If you're unlucky you might end up getting parts that break after half a year of use, so now you have a vegetable lying around on which the the warranty just ran out recently. That's one of the reasons I can think of as to why people would get upset about purchasing used parts.
Enjoy your shit-box, anon.
Don't mind me, just upgrading my year old parts to the greatest and latest!
Oh? you're interested in my old parts that are in mint condition? Sorry! You can't buy them, I will be upgrading my streaming box in my living room which is running on 2 year old parts!
Oh? You want to buy them? Sorry! I will be using them to update my streaming box that's in my room!
Enjoy being a poorfag, poorfag.

They're consumer whores who need everything NEW. It's basically American culture to spend money on new useless shit so the economy thrives.
Since three months I portscan my network devices every week. There are two end devices speaking out.
One of these is my network device from my ISP and that fucking trash make me get cancer. There is one open port 5060 SIP, which I need for my telephonie.
So I started my browser, typed my external IPv4 in with the port attached. Pic related is the result.
tl;dr - My Question now, can I get in with this port or can I get informations? Exploits?
hans pls
>>55929609
Not really sure about your setup but the way I handle 5060 on customer sites is to lock it down so that traffic from the SIP provider is the only traffic that can touch that port.
Outside of that I don't actually know what the heck you're on about.
>>55929658
Yes that is normally the right way, I know. But I can't setup those rules on this fucking cancer box.
This shit is hard compromised.
I'm Just a citizen worried about Trump coming to power at a time when surveillance possibilities are unbounded. What to I do to stay private online /g/?
Use a FSF-endorsed Linux distro, a paid VPN service and don't carry a mobile phone or keep it in airplane mode most of the time. Remember that Android and iOS smartphones phone home a lot and might be backdoored, so use a dumbphone or something free like Sailfish OS or Cyanogenmod.
The most important parts here are using a VPN and not using services that datamine you, such as Google services and social networks.
If you don't want to pay for VPN, use a free one, or use Tor. They're a bit slower, though.
>Use a Linux distro other than Ubuntu
>Never log into Google/facebook or any other data mining service ever again
>Don't use any services by data mining companies
>Get a VPN or route your traffic through a VPS
>use secure, unique passwords on every site
>Try to use FOSS software exclusively
>Use uMatrix & uBlock and enable all the privacy settings, or even better, always use the Tor browser
>Either use a android phone with a custom rom without google apps or don't use smartphones at all. For rom's, there are some that are specially made to work well without any backbone-google services.

seriously sometimes it continues for weeks, more likely that posting is allowed on night time, any ideas on this?
Change your ISP. I have the same situation but it happens time to time.

Im pretty mad about it not beig available for Europe, I want this. Are there alternatives for voice controlled smart homes?
smart homes are a meme.

I wan't to buy it, but I'm too paranoid to have a device in my home that listens to everything that's going on 24/7.

does a hacked/modded spotify premium actually work? Or is it just a meme?

If you want to use it on your PC then you can just use play.spotify.com and an ad blocker

Got my first PC a couple weeks ago after using Macs for years
It crashes....a lot. And if I want to fix the problems, I need to either pay an expert an exorbitant amount of money to tell me he doesn't know how to fix it. Or go on a googling escapade sifting through pages and pages of obscure online forums crudely explaining the myriad of procedures I need to go through in inarticulate technobabble.
I googled Windows Debugger and was directed here.
Which is basically instructions to download a development environment where I will code my own drivers from scratch.
Also apparently I can analyze the crashdump....somehow. I suppose I need to get a Masters in computer science first.
What a terrible platform, I mean holy shit. What are they thinking?
For Windows 10, they admit that many of the problems are introduced through their own updates. The most common advice they give to solve crashes is going into your computer's files and manually rolling back the automatic updates that screwed it up
You spend more time digging through files to maintain this machine then you spend using it!
Maybe that kind of grind appeals to autistic neckbeards and overweight slobs who shit away hours of their life on videogames, but it doesn't appeal to me: a working productive member of society.

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Anyone running a diskless system?
>>55929169
Why are you asking?
It's a bit impractical, but if you want it quick and easy you can look up tails.
Are rolling release distros stable enough for personal desktop use if I update once a week and always read the devnotes before?
To those running a rolling release system, how many issues did you have, say per year, that needed fixing after the update to get back to a working system?
Freedompop is now available in Spain.

Hello, I'm looking for the best cpp book. But I don't want a book that will teach me from beginning I want a book which is like a sequel to C.
I learned C in my uni but C++ class was terrible and I feel like I didn't learn shit.

There is a book called modern c++ which covers some design tips as well as some c++.
It would also be useful to just start using the language.
