is it possible to tap wires wirelessly?
6 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>55919897
with open networks you can just set your wireless card to monitor mode and just sniff traffic like that
with WPA2 et al it becomes harder (e.g. you actually have to know the PSK and catch the M1-M4 messages of your target's handshake, etc)
>>
>>55919940
What does any of that have to do with the question?
>>
>>55919897
Depends on the wires but if you can get physical access you probably hook up a transmitter, but in an environment where they look out for bugs it'd probably get found easily

Criteria:
1) I require a portable workstation as I divide my time between 2 countries
2) I'd like to get back into RPG's, MMORPG's and/or FPS
3) I'd like it to stay relevant for at least 3-5 years
4) I'm strongly considering 17 inches
5) Cost prefer under $2,000

Thoughts on ASUS ROG series vs DELL Alienware? ROG seem cheaper with better stats

Also 960M vs 965M vs 970M vs 980M and advice regarding differences between same model's as I swear I've seen some 980M's with 4gig RAM while other 980M's have 8gig

I'm not asking you to go shopping or do the hard work for me, mainly just feedback regarding what direction to look

An alienware is no way portable.

Most MMORPG don't need much, unless you plan to do raids or high pop zone events.
>>
>>55919820
Alienware has expandability with the Graphics AMP that lets you use a Desktop graphics card, so in the end it will last you longer. The only other companies with similar tech are MSI and Razer. Razer has best portability but weak on board graphics. MSI's laptops tend to have heat issues that can cause throttling.

hey /g/, just got this bad boy from the """"""garbage"""""" bin at work
>1920x1440@73hz
>1600x1200@87hz
>flat screen
>16.7m color support
pretty pumped to get this thing running, but the only problem is finding something that will actually be able get the maximum resolution signal to it. Every hdmi/dvi to vga adapter I find seems to have a maximum resolution of 1920x200@60hz. What fucking gives?
and if I cant have 1920x1440@73 I'll settle for 1600x1200@87hz or even 85hz

how do you guys use CRT monitors in the digital age?

Daily reminder that if AMD didn't exist, we would have ditched x86 for good.
>>
>>55919723
nah, if AMD wasn't around Cyrix or Via or someone would have taken their place. Or maybe IBM or Fujitsu or Zilog or one of the other dozen chipmakers of the 80s. Or shit, maybe Alpha or MIPS or some other architecture would have overtaken x86.

Sounds lucrative in theory, seeing as 3D printing is taking off in many industrial applications, and I'm not sure there are any certified experts on these things yet outside the support of the manufacturer (dogshit 99% of the time).

What do you guys think about this office build ?
i3 6100
Gigabyte GA-H110M-A LGA 1151 mATX Motherboard
Samsung 850 EVO Series 250GB
Corsair Carbide Series 88R Mid-Tower Computer Case
8gb of ram
I already have a psu that i can use.

Total after taxes :$337.99 at micro center

All the prebuilts i've looked at are mostly crap and adding an ssd to them will make them more expensive than this build.
9 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
That should be really good for your general computing needs. The cpu is plenty powerful for regular everyday use, 8GB ram is still plenty if youre not playing games or doing some heavy work, and the 250GB ssd has large enough capacity if not storing lots of files.
>>
>>55919606
Yea agreed. I think this would be an awesome office build OP, it should be pretty fucking quick.
Damn I feel like building a Skylake PC even though my build is plenty for what I do.

OP pc is overkill unless u wanted to gaymen.

Any actual handymen on this board?

Last night i wanted to toast some bread so i put my oven on grill and immediately when i press start i hear a loud pop and the breaker flips. I flip the breaker back and my oven won't turn on, when i take the plug out and put it back in it turns on for a couple seconds then turns off. It has a clock that should be running on its own but even that turns off after a couple seconds.

I inspected the internals and the light bulb seems shot. i don't have a similar fitting but my multimeter shows no continuity. Question is, would this be the problem? It seems illogical for a broken bulb to cause the oven not to turn on at all.

any input?
