-send/receive signals
-create an action potential causing the neuron to fire
-prevent action potentials keeping the neuron from firing
you need these on just the periphery sense neurons, not throughout the entire central nervous system (though obviously, there is insane potential for great discovery using these on every cell in a brain)
what you'd effectively create is a brain in a jar
you could completely cut out all sensory stimulus temporarily and trip on your own inner hallucinations
you could put yourself in a virtual world indistinguishable from reality
you could explore non linear/normal space
you could map your senses onto other bodies and learn to control
if transfer rates were fast enough, you could swap bodies with someone in real life, sensory data from each body going to the brain of the other
praise be to sexual deviants because they'll surely be the ones to push this to new crazy places (as they always are with new technologies)
