I need a new Dac for my m3-6
I'm undecided between Scarlett Solo, which has also mic in and since i'm a musician and have some spare mics this could be useful, or the NuForce uDac3
They are almost at the same price, and i think that Scarlett Solo support 24bit 96khz just as the uDac3
What i should choose?
my first purpose is listening to music anyway
>>56160205
>audio inputs and preamps "could" be useful
>in-the-box music production
all you're looking for is a glorified soundcard, what you posted is fine, and most other audio interfaces/DACs are too
>>56160205
>a new Dac
Is it so hard to say say "audio device" or "soundcard" or "interface"?
Fucking hell.
>>56160451
So since both are fine the logical choice is to take the Scarlett Solo
Yet i'm not really convinced, since i'm quite new in the audio world
>>56160496
Well one is a DAC and the other an audio interface, both are the same thing with more or less features, the point is, what would you pick?
Let's see yours

Hey /g/
Retard here, sorry, but I'm looking for a new laptop and I wondered if you might be able to help me out.
Are these any good?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GTPWZ2K
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01E0HTHXY
Only difference I can see is 2.5 vs 3.1 GHz processor. Am I missing anything?
Or is there anything else you could recommend?
I'm looking to spend at the very most £700. Don't need it to be too powerful, just need to be able to play HD movies to my TV well, some photoshop usage for translating comics, some gaming, but nothing too serious, I don't play the most graphically intensive games, mainly strategy and lolsoquirky indieshit. I don't need it to be especially portable, my previous laptop was 17 inches so I wouldn't mind something that size.
How is this?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CUBM5VS
Are MSI shit? Lower clock speed but more RAM and slightly better graphics card, worth it or not?
As a general rule, if you don't know what the specs mean, ignore them.
Higher clock speed =/= More performance.
Look up reviews for all these laptops and compare their individual components and you'll see what's better
>>56160137
So what should I be looking for in these individual components?
>>56160186
Performance.
Find out what the processor(cpu) in each of these laptops then find a comparison site and see what has better performance.
Then do the same for the Graphics card.
Will finishing this book make me smarter?
>>56160053
Could you be more concrete in your answer my friend?

No, but it will make you more knowledgeable. And to be honest most people can't tell the difference.
>Above all, remember that most open source libraries are, well, ahem, crap.
>Open source libraries (or to use my old term, code from the internet) are a great way to expand the capabilities of your apps, especially client-side. But be aware that just because they’re “free” doesn’t mean that the cost to use them is zero.

No, Julian. I'm not reading your dying blog's silly post.
Also, I've read your Delphi book and it sucks.
You sure convinced anyone at all, OP.
Everyone with half a brain knows GNU/Linux/FOSS sucks.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Why should I waste time on developing desktop applications when i can target a much bigger amount of people by writing a browser application?
It's 2016, even Autocad runs in the browser
"browser applications" are a javascript bloat.
>>56159896
>javascript
>bloat
>>56159913
Then how come every web video service runs like shit in any browser compared to running it all through livestreamer+mpv ? Mind you all adaptive video web strategies involve javascript (bloat).

In case you didn't know, Firefox screwed the pooch and since 2014 it opens Wiki in the incorrect font size. Press CTRL+scroll backwards once. There, it's not puke-worthy anymore. You're welcome.
