TL;DR
I'm in a staff lodge without wifi because previous tenants were morons. A lodge about 200 meters has unlimited wifi, how can I connect to it?

So I work in a hotel and I get to stay on-site in a shared house with some peeps, it's good and all but the only issue is that my 50GB of data that I got from a cellular network is fucking minuscule even for daily entertainment.

Approximately 200 meters (or less) away there are wifi networks of lodges that the hotel own. How can I siphon the internet from them?

Is this a dick move? 50/50, it's soon end of peak season so hardly anyone will be using it (the wifi) anyway AND another staff house HAS wifi so they're just being dicks to us in particular for reasons I'm not involved in (previous tenants, even. Not the ones currently in)

Why are anime fags so stupid?
You couldn't even post 3d but you want our help?

Sorry if I went mainstream in picking what seemed more popular. I don't intend to use /g/ as a tech support but I think it's a cool little project I'd like to do!

File organizing is far from a Strength of mine, so I'll keep this shit simple.

How do you go about sorting your files?
are any fucks really given about file names?

find out on the next post of 4chan G xD

Should always be descriptive without relying on any metadata. But only for files you create. Any file you downloaded or otherwise received from third party should never be renamed, put it in appropriate directory instead.

ok, so you pretty much just answered a question without actually giving an answer

somewhat impressed

Well what did you expect? My naming schemes for documents and shit? Also I'm not using any fancy catalog software or databases, just filesystem.

No stupid questions containment thread.

I want/need to get a laptop. I'll be overseas working and leaving in a week, wont need it straight away (though that would be nice).

Multi purpose with some gaming and light weight/portability would be nice.

I was thinking of holding out for the GTX 1060 laptops.

In that range the yet to be released MSI GS43VR in 14 inch says it is about 3.8 lbs.

Been considering a new PC for a while when heard about 1070/1060 being so efficient they can be put in laptops too. May just go for a laptop, but the price premium is pretty much $1000 over an equivalent ~$700 desktop.
>>
>>56350781
Doesn't seem to be a big price difference compared to a 13-14 inch 960m laptop however.
>>
>>56350808
960M laptop can be had for under $900 now.

Dude, it's time to upgrade. Your still on DDR2 and you're thinking of not doing a full rebuild?
>>
>>56350571
You will get proportional performance increase from your previous GPU.
In pure gpu tasks that don't even need ram that much (mining, waifu upscale etc) it would be good enough upgrade.
In more common tasks (gaymeng) full new build will offer better overall performance for the same price.

Debian's repository structure is bloated as fuck. Even GNOME core installs Firefox or chromium. Whereas Arch kde mininal doesnt even come with a file manager.
Furthermore AUR ports is divine

1) Normies are often literally too dumb to even change a filename on their selfies
2) Everybody who is even slightly more tech literate still buys the "le linux wastes time and is unstable" meme despite the fact that linux makes a perfect facebook machine and could easily fulfill 90% of the reasons most people use computers outside of gaming, the irony is that the real trouble with linux is using it for actual work
>>
>>56350407
No high end proprietary software due to the efforts of FOSS and licenseing demanding free modifiable and accessible code. Little marketing or funding from major organizations which encourage the development and investment of proprietary software on Linux.
Multiple distros each with their own maitenance issues and rules for package managment which can make distribution and maitenance less supported and more tricky. Multiple desktop environments etc. also can bring difficulties.

I don't know where the Stupid Questions thread has gone, but boy do I need it.

I am furious, /g/.
My housemate is a complete Linux dork and right before he went on holiday, he installed a Linux distro on what he THOUGHT was his think pad. It was not his, it was mine.

How the fuck do I reinstall Windows 7 on this? I have no interest in Linux at all.

Grab your restore CD/flash drive for your legal copy of Windows and you should be good to go. Most laptops put product keys under the battery compartment, so when activating online make sure you have a photo

Hey /g/

I'll just get the cliche out of the way quickly. I'm a college student looking for a laptop. I just need it to do the basics, paper writing, web browsing, plus light gaming, and I need to be under $1000, under $800 if possible. I'm just about to settle on an Acer Aspire E 15, but I'm stopping here to make sure I'm not making a terrible mistake I'm unaware of. If you have a much better suggestion I will happily hear it, as I am not very tech savvy. I also don't browse on this board very often, so I'm sorry if I come off ignorant.

Thanks you for any help!

Hey /g/, bit of a overclocking noob here.

How far is too far to push my GPU's? I'm running two GTX 950's in SLI. They're from PNY if it makes a difference.

I'm just trying to squeeze as much performance as possible out of them.
