Hey wood/g/screws, e/lit/ist here.
I was wondering with the current technology we have atm, how long do you guys think we will be able to harvest the power of the sun and store it as liquid fuel?
Would that be possible? Put out giant solar collectors, and have them condense light into liquid? Would we ever be able to condense light to liquid?
Is this wishful thinking like having a fully functional quantum computer?
Generate hydrogen from electrolysis of water
>>56350241
>liquid light
That's a no.
You can, however, use the electricity from solar panels to crack hydrogen, or in molten salt, which can absorb energy like a sponge.

What is the worst tech company and why is it AMD?
On the contrary, AMD is a solid company that makes quality products.

Are there any current production TV tuner cards? Everything I find seems close to a decade old and doesn't seem to have much if any 64 bit driver support or any forum feedback on Windows 10 compatibility.
I can get an ATI tv wonder 650 pcie or an Asus combo 210e for $15 each but can find any indication they will work.
Image completely irrelevant.
The only reason to get a tuner card any more, is so you can get a cable card from your subscriber. Then set it up as a DVR for in home streaming.
You need cablecards and something like a hdhomerun these days.
>>56349914
One of my TV's had built in cablecard and it was glorious. They nixed it though so they could force you to get a STB which ironically has the cablecard or two if it's a DVR in the unit.

Will X86 ever die? I know backwards compatibility etc. etc. but there has to be a limit to that, ARM is a measurably better architecture. It wouldn't be too hard to recompile x86 programs into ARM anyways right?
"no"
ARM shit is only on crappy phones, and you can't do any productive work on them without wanting to kill urself so i don't see this happening any time soon.
>>56349418
>ARM is a measurably better architecture
It is in theory but intel is lightyears ahead of ARM in terms of performance per watt and IPC.
Anyway x86 may never die because not only does it support old stuff but it's the best cpu architecture for enterprise and supercomputers.
>>56349435
> x86 is the best cpu architecture for supercomputers.
k.
Not like power8 exists or anything.
Also, arm uses a limited instruction set. While x86 uses a full featured set. Both have their strengths and weaknesses...
>>56349418
Also, depends. higher level languages will be fine, but lower levels will not. For example, with assembly, you would have to re-write programs to deal with issues like less registers. You also might have to substitute specific instructions with groups of instructions going from one architecture to the other

Anyone know of any lock screen replacements for Android that are great? Or should I stay with stock android's?
>>56349304
What do you need from one that the default doesn't have?
>>56349304
I usr locker master, not thw best but good enough, every now and then i get a popup on my lockscreen that says "you might like this lockscreen!" with some shit i would never use
If you want a unlock pattern stay with stock
If you want to customize it use XP
posed modules
If you don't need a pattern go with AcDisplay

so who is still on xp? I just installed xp on my d630.

Install Gentoo
pretty much just used it as-is and it was fine
Why is Gnome3 so bloated? I just want to try out the DE, I don't want to install their shitty torrent and email clients too
>Even Gnome core forces you to install totem and empathy
>>56349149
Give in to the bloat. It's good for you.
>>56349149
That's not Gnome being bloated. That's your distro's gnome meta-package requiring a lot of packages you don't need.
Just install gnome-shell. If even that pulls more than necessary, it's your distro's fault, time to change it.
