Does a adapter exist which converts multiple SATAs into a single USB. the best I can find is something like
>http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-in-1-USB-2-0-to-IDE-SATA-2-5-3-5-Hard-Drive-HD-HDD-Adapter-Converter-Cable-/152019717273
In combination with some sort of USB hub.
I'm looking to make an external hard drive containing about 4 HDDs, I'll be using a PSU so the power that a USB can draw shouldn't be a problem.
>>56352253
Sure, Orico for instance has quality backplanes and multi-slot HDD docks.
Note that even on USB3, you will bottleneck your HDD's speed if you run 4 of them off a single port... though I guess it's not worse than using a NAS on GB Ethernet.
Also, if this is storage for a shitty laptop, why don't you just set up a NAS box instead?
>>56352298
Pic of one of these.
>>56352298
The plan is to ultimately to attach an odroid xu4 and convert it to a NAS, for now just an external drive will work fine

What kind of weather apps does /g/ use and would recommend?

/g/ use a barometer with gentoo installed on it

i learned meteorology, and wrote scripts to snag data from various weather sites and run through weighted statistical analysis before being displayed in my terminal.
FYI: Wunderground is probably the most accurate, next to forecast.io -- But wunderground is updated more frequently.

What is it with the portrayal of smart people and Rubik's cube in movies?
It's always this, or chess.
Like they can't show a person being smart without them being good at chess or solving one of these faggot cubes.
It's so fucking cliche.
>>56352105
>faggot cubes
you take that back
The sad part about those two examples is they portray the ability to memorize patterns, which has little to do with ingenuity.
If you're playing chess through you're ingenuity instead of through pattern memorization, it's because you're a casual at chess.

It's like glasses, showing somebody is an intellectual individual in a way that even the most half wit muggle would understand.
Personally I enjoy writing down schematics and programming when I'm bored and have something to think about, but if you show that how many of those muggles are going to understand any of it. Hell, they'll probably think I'm an artist.
Hi /g/ im looking for a proper gaming monitor. I've been looking at BenQ xl240t 144Hz however, i just cant help but wonder, am i paying overprice for branded shit, is there actually an alternative that is cheaper or maybe even better for the price range of 300-450 dollars?

So I'm building my friend a super high end Hackintosh workstation/gaming rig combo. He is a music producer that works on albums and TV shows and movies so he needs Logic X, tons of space and good performance.
How did I do? Keep in mind that even if it looks expensive, it's less expensive than a fucking Mac.
Also, will be dual booting OS X/Windows 10

Also, how is your experience with Hackintosh? Reliable enough for this kind of work?
With this price you might as well have bought a real mac and enjoy way better stability.
Not saying Hackintoshs are useless, just saying spending nearly 3k in a computer for "music production" and gaming doesn't sound that great to me
>>56352255
Not OP, but macs limit you in terms of gaming. He said he wanted to do gaming and macs are limiting in that regard.
A Hackintosh seems like a good compromise.
>>56352073
Have you checked that the wifi card is hackintosh compatible?

GPU boost 3.0 is finicky. It has discreet temps when it tries to boost further creating more heat, leading it to pull back on the boost. Your temps must be on the edge of a boost point.
Apple has more or less made it so that there is no reason to steal iPhone anymore. We get threads here every day and the answer is always the same. You are not unlocking or resetting a stolen iPhone. It's just another example of Apple's unrivalled determination to protect its legitimate customers' data.
But how come we never see threads about unlocking stolen Android phones? Is it easy to unlock them, so threads are never made?
>>56352033
Nigger no steal droids
Androidfag here, is it really that impossible?
Can't you brute-force jailbreak it or flash stock firmware (assuming you don't give a shit about the owner's data).
You have physical access, surely it's not that hard.
You can unlock them its not that difficult if you have the right equipment. (Hot air soldering station flux etc.... a miscroscope) Costs 50 € here in Yurope and can be done by your local phone repair shop. I cloud is not 100% safe stop believing the marketing bullshit.
What does /g/ think of chromebooks? I'm thinking of getting an N22. Its cheap and Im only going to be using it for weekend trips or whatever. Can /g/ suggest any alternatives? Maybe a netbook? I want something small and light.

Get an toshiba chromebook 2 2015. Celeron or i3. It's 2x faster in single thread, have nice 1080p ips display and can run windows or non crippled linux with patched bios.
So how is this Project Maelstrom going? Is it dead? Since it is propreitary and windows only I havent bothered to test it, but I really support the idea and hopes it gets some traction.

Are open headphones good for gaming? Do they echo when you use a mic? Any disadvantages when during single player? Beyerdynamic DT 990 250ohm are what I'm looking at
>>56351941
>Do they echo when you use a mic?
Only if you have them loud enough to get picked up by the mic. At which point it'd pick up light breathing anywhere near the mic.
Open headphones are usually better than closed when you don't have to worry about background noise. They don't echo. No disadvantages. I wouldn't buy the DT990 though. That huge treble peak will make your ears ring.
>>56351941
>Are open headphones good for gaming?
