From what I understand, enabling v-sync will cap FPS to the refresh rate of the monitor.
So if I have a 60hz monitor, my FPS will not go beyond 60, but this also means that if my GPU is able to output more than 60 FPS, I should never drop below that, right?
If this is the case, then my FPS dropping below the refresh of my screen makes no difference whether vsync is on or off, right? In both cases I would get stutter

From what I've read. vsync allows the GPU to send out frames only as fast as the monitor can display them, meaning the FPS will be capped to the refresh rate of the screen, how is this wrong?

Okay /g/ i am looking to install a new Distro. Any distro is welcomed, and i will try it if i like it.
Mostly i will be in the terminal, and have a web browser open, so i don't need much. I'll be using i3 window manager as my Wm.
Not in the "Hur dur freesoftware" circle jerk, so options like Ubuntu and other "Non-free" distros are allowed.
My computing fate lays in your hands. Go.

Already tried it. Too be honest, i dislike it. It's okay, but not enough packages, and installing stuff is really hard to do. For instance it took me 4 hours to install Dwarf Fortress.

I need to decide on a major. I already am admitted to a good uni for computer engineering, but I feel as though the hardware focus goes against my beginnings, shit posting on /g/ and fucking around with neet programming languages, mostly ruby. I like programming a lot, engineering is boring as fuck. Still, every fucking Normie is getting a CS degree nowadays. If I am mainly interested in programming, mainly low level languages but also meme languages(again, like ruby), but still want to be with fellow wizards and learn math should I continue with CE? Or should I just switch to CS and take extra math classes? Seriously guys, pls help.

Hey /g/
Just installed a fresh version of Fedora 25 since it uses Wayland and also detects switchable graphics better than any other distro.
It's great but I have one problem though - Chromium/Firefox seem to have issues with porn sites, namely BEEG and Xvideos. Beeg videos just don't play when you click on them and Xvideos download automatically.
I've installed Flash and all that, and youtube/fb/other video sites work fine
Anyone have an idea?
