Do you think it is possible to connect a desktop to WiFi, using a laptop that does have internet access, by connecting them via Ethernet cable?
I've poked around in the settings, tried enabling sharing, tried making an ad hoc but no luck yet.
They definitely recognize that they're connected to each other, closest I've gotten is the laptop showing it's connected to multiple networks, one of which is its WiFi card connected to the internet but I just can't get the desktop to start piggybacking; the network it was on showed an invalid IP.
connecting what via ethernet cable?

Connecting the desktop to the laptop that has WiFi.
The desktop has a network card, but it's not detecting the wireless network.
Yes, there are plenty of guides online. On windows you need to create a new network device.
My nephew wants a gaming computer and he only has 200 usd. His parents can not afford Christmas gifts so I gifted him my 2gb 7850 and some headphones to help with the cost. His friend gave him an old 1080 screen as well as a mouse and keyboard. The problem is he don't know which direction to go next and to be honest neither do I. It doesn't need to be pretty, just at least 250 gb hdd and as much cpu as possible to utilize most or all of the 7850's potential. What parts or builds should we be looking at?
>>58130897
you should have just given him 50 bucks to go buy a ps4/xbox one s

give it back Jamal

They basically say how you should go look for old surplus computers, which usually have old i5s or something, and with a decent gpu, can make surprisingly good PC's for gaming.

laptop manufacturers still don't give a shit
meanwhile my phone is 2560x1440 (admittedly this is silly, I should have probably have gotten a 1080p instead for more battery life)
>>58130835
yeah but that DPI doe
Why can't they just bump it up to 1440x900 and 1200x800?
How the fuck do I retreive my clipboard history? I need to retrieve something important that I copied and don't tell me that it's not possible because nothing on the fucking computer is ever "deleted"

Last startup I worked at they allowed people to bring their dogs to the office. Sounds cool until there's dog hair floating around everywhere.
Also, usually nothing is documented and depending on who you ask a process can be done 20 different right ways.

What does /g/ think about this meme distro? I just installed it and I like it so far. Seems very beginner friendly, reminds me a bit of Mandriva.
>>58130581
It's the best way to use the best DE. GNOME faggots can fuck right off.
>>58130627
It's always been a great DE, and the distro itself is nice. I feel like there's a lot of things that are more oriented towards a power-user that are left out during install (like setting the root password, for example).
Yeah, changing the root password is literally two lines in the terminal, but the fact that you can't set it from the installer makes me feel like the distro is oriented towards someone who doesn't need root (i.e. normies). Would I be wrong in thinking that?
>>58130581
I like it. But personally I feel I have enough stuff with xfce.
If xfce one day changes KDE will be the first choice. Like in 3.5.10 times I thought it was the perfect desktop but in the switch to 4 became unstable and Trinity was born. It's not the same.
Can you fizz my buzz
for(i=0;i++<9001;) {
console.log((i%3?'':'fizz')+(i%5?'':'buzz') ||i);
}
Not doing your homework, newfriend.
>>58130506
It's Javascript fag, run it. Works perfectly. Tested myself. Want java too, faggot?
void fizzbuzz() {
for(int i=1;;i++) {
String s = i%3==0?"fizz":"";
s += i%5!=0?"":"buzz";
System.out.println(s.isEmpty?i:s);
}
}
Where's yours newfag?
>>58130506
No pix no proof, right?
Pic related, poster is a faggot, can't even fizzbuzz
I have a computer with an SSD and two HDDs; the SSD has my main installation of Windows 10 and the other two drives are just data drives. I want to try out Linux by installing it on one of the hard drives so that I can have a dualboot between Windows 10 and Linux.
Anything I need to know about this process, or is it as simple as popping in a live USB installer for my distro choice? If I decide I no longer want my Linux installation, will switching off of the setup be as simple as formatting the Linux drive? The whole dualbooting process is unclear to me.
>pic not related, I don't plan on using Ubuntu
Know what you're doing 100% before attempting anything. Installed a distro today and fucked up the partitioning because I'm a spastic.
>>58130413
>don't plan on using Ubuntu
Which one do you plan on using?
If you decide to switch to windows in a VM, get a cheap enterprise SSD and use bcache. The difference is enormous.
if you want to try it out, try it in a vm before fucking your partitions around.
>inb4 babby can't partition
if you're asking /g/ this kind of question, you're going to fuck your partitions up. go find one of 20 million guides on dual booting ubuntu and windows 10. are you new? we're almost 2017

I would be worried that it is a scam, x220 models still go for near $200

Whats the point of moving files while they are open? It bound to fuck something up somwhere. Sonds pretty logical to me to lock those files.

Some legend changed his hotspot name to pic related on a plane with in-flight wifi.
They nearly diverted the plane until he 'fessed up. He got away with it, other than slightly delaying his flight or something.
