Why do people buy new phones if you can just flash an old one and update the ROM to the latest android until it's no longer supported? Then you own the phone outright and can find the cheapest plan out there without having to worry if your phone is tied to a plan.
Fucking S3's are $35 on eBay in tip top shape.
>>58137242
S3 is ugly as sin.
>>58137326
It's the same as every fucking phone out there.
>1 mm edge difference from my phone
>oh it's ugly!!!
>download this curry rom from xda to get your phone working as it should
What are you working on, /g/?

What is the comfiest tech job, and why is it IT?
>relaxed schedule
>flexible hours
>nice mix of regular end-user jobs and enterprise contracts
>customers think you're a wizard or some shit, almost always appreciative
>travel expenses covered by contractor
>get to service sick data centers
>no uniform
>independence from strict management structures
>bomb pay (charge $80-100 to work with low overhead costs)
>pajeets can't into actual face-to-face support
>easy branching to specialized managerial positions if you ever feel like it
I will never understand the meme that IT is bad. It's a cozy job with basically no stress and lots of experience gain.
Alternative comfy-tier jobs include sysadmin and meme programming in a loft office with a free beer tap
Pic unrelated
What do you mean by IT? You know that's a large category of jobs right? The top tier job in IT is software development btw
>bump
I need to know that as well
I'd like to take a moment to point out that iToddlers are dependant on Apple to think for them. We reached a point in society where people have become mentally dependant on multinational corporations.
>he is so upset with apple users for some reason that he starts projecting things on them to feel better about himself
wew lad
Why so mad?
I buy Apple because they are the best products in the market by far, if youre not worried about budget.
If they stop making the best products, I stop buying Apple. Its that simple
Have a nice day faggot.

What's the best launcher and icon pack available?

Git Gud Scrub.
You're not gonna get any answer asking like that, as if you could get anything
The best launcher is Nova the best icon pack is subjective.

i've been searching on the web, i can't find the "subjective" icon pack.
Mind dropping a link ?
Guys what is the smallest networking library for C++ available that is cross platform? SDL_Net?
I made a program using berkeley sockets since I wasn't aware that winsockets are almost identical but have underlying differences, fuck the winapi is there an alternative?

Hey /g/uys, I'm really at a loss here. So I recently got a new monitor which I've hooked up through a vga cable using a dual link DVI to connect it to my GPU. Problem is I keep getting no signal displayed on my new monitor. I could see it in the device manager under monitors with the proper drive and it's detected by my GPU. I've tried reinstalling my drivers, reinstalling them again, and even resetting my machine. I know it's not a faulty port because I've had a monitor hooked up the exact same way in the past. I've literally been troubleshooting for like 12 hours and I'm out of ideas. I extended the displays and made sure the monitor has the latest driver. What's weird is that when I hook up the monitor and reset the PC my main display says no signal which I believe is because upon reset the VGA monitor is used before the windows login screen i.e I believe even though I still don't get singal through the monitor whatsoever, I can still tell my PC is displaying stuff on there. At this point I think I might revert to 7 because no matter what I try I can't get a signal. Thanks for reading and please, if you have any ideas lemme know. Oh yeah, I also get this message when looking at my display settings.
I posted this in your thread on /v/
What kind of video card are you using and what kind of cable is your working monitor using?
Also do the new monitor work if you unplug the working one?

Fuck off back to /v/ wintards
>>58136764
I got a GTX 970 and my working monitor is plugged in using an HDMI cable. No, the new one does not work if I unplug the old, nor does it work if I choose to just display on the second

Anyone know what ever happened to that Commodore 64 reboot? Thought it looked pretty neat to be honest.
>>58136568
>reboot?
you mean reloaded?
https://icomp.de/shop-icomp/en/shop/product/c64-reloaded.html
>>58136587
Nah, it was like a hardware reboot. They used the old design but modern insides. I keep trying to post a link to it but it won't let me. Lemme try this again..

So I saw this ad on my local Craigslist for an Asus RX 480 ROG strix. Used for 2 months, 22 month warranty left (he says) and for 290 euros. 370 euros new might I add. He will be inviting me to his household for me to see the gpu with my own eyes. He says he is a finish guy that came to my country and didn't want a gaming set up after all. What should I look out for a used GPU and should I go for it?
>>58136463
Note: The other rx480 my eye has caught is the Sapphire Nitro+ OC but it's 340 euros brand new and that has put me in a dilemma
>>58136463
Make him stress test it infront of you and check if temps and the fans are normal. Also have a proper look at the warranty information to see if it's actually genuine. If you have no idea what you're doing then don't take the risk and just get the sapphire one.
Ask which store he bought it from and then message the store to verify that the warranty passes to you. You could also ask if the store refuses warranty claims if you don't have all boxes and accessories with you.
Also as >>58137054 said tell him to run some consistent benchmark and check that fps & temps are close to numbers in reviews when using same settings. Slight differences are possible due to OS, room temperature, airflow, driver updates etc. but the numbers should still be in the same ballpark.
Who uses these nowadays?
>>58136457
Wait, they still sell this shit?
People who can't or won't pay for a smartphone plan. I was in the latter group for a while because it wasn't worth the money for me. (Now my job pays.) A friend of mine travels frequently and finds it easier to get solid WiFi than worthwhile PAYG whatever-G cellular data during his short stays.

LOST HP LAPTOP, product number L4R64AV, serial CND5271RM1. If you guys can trace this then I'll give a $300 dollar reward anywhere in the world it may be. Last seen JFK international airport, near starbucks
Are you moron or what?
tip: look for new stuff turning up on craigslist or similar.
Did you check with the starbucks or the lost and found at the airport?
>>58136451
I'll need $180 up front to cover the cost of tracking software subscription.
What do you do with your perfectly functional old cards?
I keep them together with the old machines. I'm not interested in finding another use for them and the new owner can enjoy the benefit of multimonitor support and maybe even some light recreation.
>>58136441
put them in a box for when the new card dies
