Smaller top and bottom bezels (at least 75% screen to body ratio)
Backlit capacitive buttons.
1mm thicker filled with battery
Optical image stabilization
5.2 inch screen instead now that bezels are smaller.

be more iphonish in general. the closer it can get to an iphone, the better

Old guide had 7 screens. Of those, 3 were removed, and 4 remained.

New guide has 13 screens. 2 are rebrands/very similar to previous models, and 7 are completely new.

There is now a 3440x1440 screen (21:9), and a 4K screen.

Your comments, suggestions, and criticisms are appreciated.

What's the cheapest gsync ips 1440p monitor?
>>
>>58526183
G-Sync+IPS+144Hz+1440p is not cheap at all.

Acer XB271HU and Asus PG279Q are both $800. If you want cheap, you need to drop the G-sync, or drop the IPS.

So let's say I have _ things.

1. An internet connection
2. A laptop with a blank hard drive (so no OS)
3. An Android phone (not rooted) w/ USB cable

Is there any way I could download an ISO on the phone and then boot the laptop from it?
16 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>58525756
pretty sure you can download an OS onto a SD card or USB and boot from that
>>
>>58526060
Dont have an SD card slot in phone nor an adaptor (don't think you can boot from SD anyway) and if I could put it on a USB I would have but as I said just the phone, cord, and dead laptop
>>
>>58525756
Pretty sure it's possible, but since android 3ish plus requires a rooted phone to put it into the regular storage mode, except a few models which got supported from their manufacturer, Sony iirc, ever since the update your phone week be in mtp mode by default which probably won't work, either way not worth the effort, if your phone supports otg usb, buy a usb and adapter, or usb with an adapter built in, download iso on phone extract to usb, install ... Profit. Btw I haven't looked into this for a few years, but that's the extent of my memory about it

These were so shit, but I remember alot of people had them back in the 2000s, myself included.

Then when I switched to HP in 2008 I never looked back.

Overclocked the shit out of my mine to play quake. It lasted 2 minutes shut off and started smoking and sparking
Glorious AMD
>>
>>58525661
Mine was pretty decent in the early 2000's.
Modems and graphics cards were really prone to melting from heat (scorch marks and stuff). Can't remember if the optical drive burned out too but swapped it out with a double stack that could play on top and write on bottom, thing lasted for years and survived a lightning strike power surge that melted the surge protector it was plugged into along with fucking up the modem inside it.
Most games didn't really have crazy specs so just throwing a graphics card in it ran most anything you could throw at it. Wasn't a bad machine at all and XP it came with was a pretty decent OS.
>>
>>58526119
Now that I think about it. Power supply unit rarely went out, and heat messing up gpu's from heat wasn't as bad as some other brands I ended upgrading to. Think someone even managed to fix it when I gave it away. Thing was kind of a tank, needed a few spare parts here and there but I wouldn't be surprised if it was still running now even after the heavy use it got.

ok.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

What kind of media player does /g/ use? I was using VLC until awhile ago, but MPC-HC had, what looked like better default video display. Although I'm a pleb and don't tune them or anything

When will this meme die?
>>
>>58525479
It's not a meme though, mpchc/be required codec packs while mpv needs tons of configuration.

VLC simply had more hours put into it, and it's why it's much more developed and intuitive.

VLC is the greatest media player of all time and the only one that supports all platforms.

Well considering we're starting out with the best browser I have an extremely hard time imagining it'd end up that way.

The last truly innovative, helpful thing Apple has contributed to the planet that wouldn't have been contributed by someone else sooner or later without them was the original iPhone in 2007.

What other touch-sensitive phones were on the way that the user interacted with in similar ways to the iPhone? Not trying to disprove you or anything; I'm legitimately curious.
