What are some good video editors and video converters for Linux?

Do what Dropbox does, use an encrypted (encrypt yourself) AWS S3 bucket. And make your own application that connects up to it.
What kind of chair do you guys have? I assume you spend majority of the time of the day on it so you must have a really comfortable one.
I'm looking for a new one myself, one with a backrest that covers the entire upper body.
Also, opinions on "gaming" chairs?
>gayming chairs
Literally thee “fuelshark“ of chairs
Using an old livingroom chair myself since i have a low desk.
A chair from Ikea
>bought a cheap laptop 1 year ago
>had low power AMD GPU and CPU
>still going strong without any problems
>bought a Dell latitude
>has Intel CPU and Nvidia Quadro GPU
>it throttles like retarded and the Quadro chip kills itself every year from overheating, which forces me to get the mobo changed.
Why do we need high power laptops again? Ironically business class laptops die far often than cheap plastic ones due to component failure, which are supposed to have been built to last. It really makes me think of low power, cool, maybe even passively cooled laptops are the future
Wattage, dude.
I'm not going to go into the history of semiconductors, but performance/watt is mobile device gospel. Also that a watt of electricity used means a watt of heat produced.
i have an anecdote too
>buy amd apoo laptop years ago
>slow and overheats frequently doing almost nothing from day one
>buy intel+nvidia laptop last year
>everything runs great and cool
>>58527854
Don't fucking turn this into a Nvidia vs Intel vs AMD vs whatever the fucking brand circlejerk
This is a thread to discuss low power laptops vs high power laptops

What will be more future proof /g/?
Skylake Architecture, Codename Cannonlake, i7-8800K at probably 5 GHz
(OC to 5,5-5,7 GHz)
Or
Icelake Architecture, Codename Icelake, i7-9700K
I will use my high end nahelem till 18/19 and want something equally disruptive then.
>>58527745
I meant to say "Codename Coffeelake"
>>58527745
We'll be seeing the 10Ghz mark in 2025.

I've been through a good number of frames. Through the years, I've finally figured out the best type of frame: half-rim with deep, long lenses with soft plastic arms.
>No bottom rim to obstruct vision
>still have enough structural strength because of the upper rim
>upper rim barely obstructs vision because you have a brow anyway and you move your head up to look at things even without glasses
>metal frames are thin unlike fat plastic ones which also helps with obstruction
>stylish while still giving almost the same level of coverage as big, square frames
>soft plastic arms hug and contort to your head shape
These are the best.

>>>/fa/ unless we're talking about the hololens

I actually wear that exact same frame. They're stylish as fuck without looking too pretentious.
While I agree with all your points, their only downside is that they're generic everyone has them.

I am trying to speed up my gf's laptop with some ram and an SSD.
How can I know which MHz speed does a DDR have?
The current DDR in the laptop is a
PC3L-12800S
Apparently there are several models:
1066/1333/1600MHZ
Which one should you get? Assuming it depends on your motherboard or processor architechture, how can you find out?
what laptop is it?

Lenovo Z50-70
Related question, I have a shitold laptop laying around.
I would like to try Arch Linux or maybe Tails just to see if I migrate from Ubuntu.
The laptop is an acer aspire 4738 series with no harddrive and no RAM. I was thinking on using the old harddrive from the lenovo and buying a pair of DDR sticks for it (the Acer).
How can you know which DDR should you use, and at which speed? is it determined by the motherboard?

Im on the 6th year using a K120 by Logitech. Still works as intended.
i've had 2, on both of them keys eventually started double/triple triggering when i pressed them which made typing without staring at the text cursor impossible, and then when the backspace key started to go too it became actually impossible.
rubber dome is just more dependable, after 5-6 years of mech i recently went back to the old rubber dome i used since middle school before that had which been sitting a the top shelf of my closet (im 22 now), sure it feels like pushing a bottlecap down into a jar of stale peanut butter in comparison to mech but i know that everything i intend to appear on the screen will appear nothing more nothing less, and that's value you can't beat.
I'm using love2d as a 2d framework to do experimental stuff.
Every fucker I know shills Unity.

Alright, decided to get rid off windows so I can stop playing games. Can any distro be riced like pic related, or should I just use arch? Also, anyone know a good guide for installing linux? Last time I tried I fucked up pretty bad.
install gentoo
>>58526899
Gentoo is also good for ricing.
But if you want a quick ricing install then get Antergos or Manjaro, since i seriously don't know how you want to rice.
>>58526899
You can make any distro look identical to any other.
Just install ubuntu, the installation is as easy as windows and you can choose to have an i3 session.
