tl;dr: Monitor supposedly supporting 120 Hz wont go over 60 Hz
Got a Samsung Syncmaster HDTV TA750, which I use as a monitor for my pc, hooked via an hdmi 1.3 cable to my RX 480 with Crimson driver. Resolution is 1080p.
Sources I found on the screen say that the max refresh rate is either 100 or 120 Hz. I am trying to get it to work with a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz by going to the Display tab in the crimson drivers, creating a custom resolution and setting the refresh rate to something higher (e.g. 75 Hz) then Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties and setting the new refresh rate under the monitor tab.
The screen goes black and tells me "Mode not supported" before reverting back to 60 Hz after a few seconds. Am I doing something wrong?

No 120hz via HDMI.
Samsung 120hz bullshit just means the monitor will refresh twice for every input refresh.
Go find stupid questions thread. It's also probably only going to work over dvi or displayport
For example:

tfw you get outskilled at ebay sniping
>spend hours trying to get an item for a dozen bucks less than in a normal shop
Last time I used ebay you enter the maximum you're willing to pay. Ebay then automatically increases your bid on your behalf up to that amount, thus still beating sniping software (unless the sniping software is set higher than the highest bid). Has it changed since then?
>>58532647
it was quite the deal
>>58532655
my connection was being shit so i compensated for the lag and bidded in the last 15 seconds. either that cunt was fast, or he already had a higher bid in than i did.
What's with the terrible state of video editors on Windows? Literally everything sucks, is broken, old, or doesn't exist.
>Avidemux, Virtualdub, Wax
Broken and old
>Shotcut, Openshot, Lightworks, Blender, Filmora
Big software suites that require encoding or limit free users
>DVDVideoSoft Video Editor (pic related)
In concept, it's the perfect video editor. But it's bundled with a bunch of malware and ads and other shit you don't want, limits file format support for free users, is somewhat buggy.
Is there a simple free video editor out there that just removes parts of a video without having to render output, like pic related?
>tfw still using Sony Vegas 9 because of this issue
I've always wondered about the sheer vacuum of video editors
What is the Audacity of video editors?
what the fuck lads
Probably this.
Firefox is still not affected by the faggotry,
so i've disabled updates for good.
Is there an alternative?

Recommend me a good professional printer /g/. I know almost nothing about this stuff. Doesn't have to print enormous volumes but needs to have ethernet port.

>>58531413
Inkjet or laser? If you'll be printing in colour and not in super high volume, a refillable inkjet is a good choice. If you'll only be doing black and white documents, go for laser.
>>58531413
buy a brother laser printer they have cheap toner
Lenovo thinkpad x230t
Should i buy? What do you guys think about it? Its old but a refurbished one will work great right? Can the ram and other parts be exchanged easily?
How much?
>Can the ram and other parts be exchanged easily?
RAM and HDD, very easily.
That system font.
Kys fag
>>58531303
Bear in mind that x230t is NOT a convertible in a modern sense - the tablet mode is designed for stylus operation first and foremost, and even with the multitouch screen option you can't operate it with fingers as good as a real tablet.
>Can the ram and other parts be exchanged easily?
Yes, it's very modular and easy to disassemble. But there's a whitelist for Wi-Fi and 3G cards.

The fuck happened to brick and mortar retail stores? Are we only catering to the lowest of the common denominators of humanity, here? How long before we replace Sandisk SD cards with MEMEDISK ULTRA DANK by SNOOP SD cards?
Best Buy is the worst at this shit. Rocketfish was the first nail in the coffin. Around 2011-ish, they systematically removed any $10 HDMI cable and only sold Monster and Rocketfish cables at $25 minimum.
These days they do sell a cheapo one for $10 or so, but it was only after tons of online complaints and losses in sales over them because people were just buying five-packs on Amazon for chump change.
If you want headphones in person and don't mind the price-hike, go to Guitar Center.
>>58531238
You can't go anywhere and buy tech anymore. It's all ordered online if you want anything good. Sad, yeah, but that's how it is.
>>58531238
>The fuck happened to brick and mortar retail stores?
Profits.
Best Buy has the policy that if you find a product they sell for lower than their cost, they will match the price.
Sounds good, doesn't it? Until you get into serial numbers. I was denied a $100 price-cut on a 280X years back becuase apparently the variation at Best Buy was made FOR Best Buy and wasn't sold anywhere else online or retail, anywhere.
Also, notice they only sell the Nvidia and AMD-branded videocards now. It's all about maximizing profit. They do this shit so you can't price-match.
Hey /g/, any suggestions for good note taking software? Currently I use notepad++ which is great for code but i would like something that allows me to use my laptop's touch screen to draw diagrams on the same document as my typed notes, any suggestions?

Anyone who uses any Linux distro on the desktop other than Debian, Fedora, or Ubuntu is just attention-seeking. Maybe they want to prove to their weeb friends that they're "leet" or they want to feel like a hacker or something, but there's no reason to use these distributions except to make life harder on yourself.
>>58530879

Go back to Windows you useless faggot. *Nix literally offers you nothing, except the chance to "make life harder on yourself," and you have nothing to offer the community beyond shitting it up, and dumbing it down even further.

Serious question, /g/.
How do you justify buying and keeping things you don't need/things having no practical use to you?
>>58530708
Like, let's say you bought a computer with 64GiB of RAM after felling for yet another /g/ meme, even tho you don't use more than 8GiB?
>>58530708
I don't do this
>>58530744
I have 8 gigs of ram and I run out of memory on a daily basis, I wouldn't mind having at least 32GB
How do you not live off of basic pragmatic foodstuffs, and water?
Because there's more than pragmatic ideals involved, you also like the extra features, and the experiences they give you.
