In preparation for summer, I bought a pull-up bar for some good gains.

Was wondering how doing Pull ups has effected your muscle gains? What should I pair it with for even quicker gains?

I'm a poor but I want to lift. I've been thinking about just filling up gallon jugs with water or sand. Anyone know any other substances I can use to add more weight?

I rarely use enough weight to justify going mixed, though. I like doing high rep sets. Easier to keep good form. Maybe once every two weeks or so I'll test myself with a third plate and go mixed grip.

I was at the gym today waiting for a squat rack and the guy using it had the safety rails up to his armpits. He appeared to be doing squats (barbell on back 2 plates), but he was just barely bending his knees. I've heard of people doing half or quarter squats before, but he was barely even moving. That he had the safety rails up so high indicates that he was probably aware of his shitty range of motion.

He was pretty buff though, so I'm confused. Is this a legit exercise? Rehab exercise maybe? He took forever too. He was in the rack already when I came in and was there for another 30 minutes or so doing these knee bends.

I'm always irritated when I have to wait for equipment due to someone using poor form, so on a scale of 1-11, how annoyed should I be?

Watched a video. Way too much movement and the rails are lower.

Amount of bend in the knee is more comparable to the pic I posted and I never saw the bar hit the rails despite them being so high.

So for the last three days I've had gas pretty much all the time and they smell way worse than usual. Also I gained like 3kg, which isnt water weight because my diet didnt change at all.

I think it's because I ate chinese food during the weekend, and Im pretty sure those guys dont really wash their cilantro that well.

Am I cheating myself doing a wide stance squat? I try to keep my legs close and do the full range, but all I experience is pain in my knees, back and most of my upper body.

A wide stance feels a lot more natural, but I don't think I'm using my legs nearly enough.

I mostly ate sugar-free candy (the diabetic stuff, you can eat as much as you want, it doesn't have sugar in it), big shakes in the morning (put that protein powder in, some frozen fruits and a little ice cream helps) and salads 24/6. On the seventh day I'd do a cheat day. Add some meat to your salads, but you don't need too much because you're having whey protein.

How do you accurately log exercise when you're on the treadmill for speeds that don't end in 0 or 5? For instance, let's say you did 20 minutes at 3.9. There's no listing for 3.9. Can you use math? For instance,

3.9 mi/h * 20 min / 60min/h = 1.3 miles

1.3 mi / 3.5 mi/h * 60 min/h = 22.29 minutes

Is that accurate from a caloric standpoint? That is, is walking 20 minutes at 3.9 mph the equivalent of walking 22.29 minutes at 3.5 mph?
