I ate junk food for 2 years and didn't work out and probably gained no more then 5lbs. While I didn't look bad I fucking felt bad. I'm much more concurred about getting diabetes or having longer lasting effects. I really need to curb sweet food and drinks. I do water down any sweet drinks I have by at least 1/3. Anyone ever deal with junk food habit?

Anyone else here develop scoliosis? Skeleton 3 months into lifting for the first time. Been having lower back pain for a while now. Went home for break and to rest back, and on my last day here my pain has been significant and I just now noticed a curvature of my spine I've never seen before. My right hip is seemingly further to the right than it was even just a week ago.

You cannot GIVE yourself scoliosis by lifting. Your spine is not some spongy goo that freely moves around in your body.

The only way your lifts could have made that happen is if you're younger than 18 and in that case you shouldn't have been lifting weights in the first place.

Scoliosis is also mostly genetic.

Everyone is born with imbalances. Most often, people have slight deviations of their body, usually based on which side they favor more (right-handed, so right arm might be bigger, etc.). Don't think yourself into something you don't have, and if you're REALLY worried about it, go get an xray.

Honestly this.

Look at the bodybuilders in the 70s or even some old time strongmen. Their abs were thick but compact or "normal" looking. Growth hormone makes everything grow especially soft tissue. So not only are your internal obliques and transverse abdominis growing but your organs are as well.

Such a stupid thing to fuck around with unless you have a pituitary problem or you're old.

I'm new and I've read the sticky. I have a few questions though. I'm skinnyfat 5'8" and 165 lbs, I'm bulking and probably going to do SS. I'm currently set for 2,380 calories with 208 grams of protein. That seems like a ridiculous amount though. Did I calculate that right?

I mainly wanted to ask if dumbells are okay for these starter programs? Also how frequently should I be increasing the weight that I'm lifting? Is it okay to run along with this plan if I'm trying to put on muscle mass? I did ss before but didn't see many results besides getting stronger.
