Well stop handling weed or the military is a no go. They drug test.
Get a job where you're at least midly active and that pays well. You could become a forklift driver and make good money or something else.
Go to therapy. Depression kills motivation, something you need to get fit. If you're gonna be a junkie and smoke use a bong, if you're on fags then forget ever getting fit, your lungs are gone. Switch to vape if thats the case.

ITT we post pros and cons about our gyms

Pic related is the free weight area of my gym

PROS
>24/7 access
>Usually not that busy when I go
>Owners are laid back & friendly

CONS
>Hosts large "boot camp" training sessions, basically a shit ton of people hogging all of the machines for at least an hour
>Not a lot of equipment (doesn't have an incline or decline bench, no deadlift platform)

/fit/ I come with you for help/advice.

I've never fucking been here before, but I've been doing some shit for the past couple of days.

I'm 6'2 270 lbs, I'm a fat 19 yr old neet who's never really worked out a day in my life, I never played sports (I was in marching band for a time tho). I basically spend all my time in my room smoking ciggerretes drinking mtn dew, and doing very un/fit/ things.

But 5 days ago my /fit/ friend asks if I want to go to the gym with him. I don't. He says we can play racquet ball ( I like racquet ball. A lot.). Then I can go swim or chill in the hot tub while he works on his "gains".

Anyways, fast forward a bit. We're at the gym, I see the lifting shit, and I have the realization that I've never actually tried to lift actual weights before, Im a big dude I'm kinda strong, I worked part time at this rental yard for a bit and they would call on me to lift and carry shit that would normally take 3 men to carry. So I thought I was a kinda strong. But now I get to put it to the test.

So we go over to the "weights" ( idk gym lingo and shit so pardon me if I sound retarded fat neet hear remember that.), and my friend knows I'm kind of a strong dude so he wants to see how much I can benchpress, I'm stronger then my friend (Hes not really a lift /fit/ dude he's a boxer.), and we both know that and he benches 210 so he puts 100 on the bar to start it off. I can do it. He amps it up to 200. I can do it. ( He set a 5 "rep" minimum for each time.) He amps it to 250. I can do it. He amps it to 300. I can do it. Although at this point I'm pretty tired and my arm hurts. So we go play racquet ball for a bit. Then come back, he wanted to go train but I wanted to see if I could bench more. So he put 350 on. I can do it. We were about to add another 50 but he realised he couldn't "spot" me at that much so we call over another dude, he says not to put on another fifty but to go up another 25. So I stopped at 375.

I know I could have done 400.-

Even less than that from recent studies I've seen. Can't remember exactly, but I think I saw .65/lb body weight for cutting and around .5 for bulking. The 1-1.5 is perpetuated by the supp industry. Hell I just eat meat with every meal and I'm good.

OK I feel bad, so I'll answer properly

I do 60 mins 3 times a day
At first it was part of my weight loss regimen
But I realised that was just a meme. Doing this to create a calorie deficit will make you hungrier and tireder in the long run. For losing weight, it's mostly abou creating a deficit through diet. Weight training is good to supplement with because it's not realy abotu calories. But mainly diet. Don't do cardio to create the deficit.

Now I just do it to maintain cardiovascular health (i.e. I eat more to compensate for what was burned off).
reduced it to 60mins 2 times a week now because I walk a lot anyway

I just go as far as I can in the 60 mins.
The average kept increasing, now it seems to have plateued so I know I'm at a good level for myself.

I think a fixed amount of time is better than a fixed amount of distance, because with distance, you'll try and go faster and faster and it could turn into anaerobic instead of aerobic. Which is not cardio. So I say stick to fixed amount of time, maybe cover it up while you do it, only see how far you did at the end.

so i started 4 months ago, 35kg 3x6 easy and i'de say every few weeks i added 2.5kg, now i'm at 50kg, first week i got 3reps 2reps 1 rep the next 4,4,3 last week 6,6,4 so today i'll hopefully get 6,6,6 and can move up next week.

does this seem normal, slow or what ?

you're gonna stall with 2.5 kg increments really fast. if your gym doesn't have 0.5 kg plates buy 8 of them yourself so you have every number covered for 1 kg progression.

once you get advanced they will come in handy for all lifts
