I don't know what it is but I've been feeling it lately. Maybe something good will happen soon.
we're all gonna make it brah
but
motivation ultimately doesn't mean anything compared to discipline. use your motivation to develop discipline for long-term life gainz

Alright you stupid fucking first-year lifting assholes. I'm tired of hearing all of your bullshit memescience
I've been on here for the better part of 3 years, and I have to say I've never seen /fit/ this bad of a condition. I've thought I heard it all, but guess what, you faggots all proved me wrong. Let's start with your most bullshit arguments
>Bodyweight exercises are fine for people trying to "tone"
The rule to all fitness is progressive overload and persistence.
Bodyweight exercises are shit because there is no way to progressive overload. Sure, you can do more reps and eventually get strong enough to do even more reps, but this doesn't train the muscles specifically. It trains endurance.
If you could somehow train an exercise for a certain amount of reps and make it harder next session without increasing repetitions, than that is a good enough exercise to be able to be used in a routine. Individuals that can do 100 push ups would very rarely get any progress from doing 105 push ups
This is because the muscle has not been fatigued until the last 10 repetitions. For any routine to build muscle, it would have to fatigue the muscles to near exhaustion 3-5 times a session. The total amount of time for this would increase in such a way that it'll be difficult for any adult to complete.
>PPL for beginners looking to lift weights
No you stupid faggots. A routine is not only the exercises and the sets. A routine is so much more. Routines are supposed to have the progression of weights be mathematically defined.
Every PPL routine I've seen had absolutely no progression recommended. Which is fine for intermediate lifters as they can more effectively gauge fatigueness for their body and determine if some day was a good workout.
Contrast that with Starting Strength and it enforces that you increase the weight on the barbell by a certain amount each session. This would allow beginners to effectively overload their muscles to GUARANTEE muscular fatigueness.

>Vegan bullshit
Listen you bullshit vegans. Look at the name of this board. It's "Fitness", isn't it? Therefore it must be assumed that any discussion in this board has to be directly related to fitness.
There was not 1 (ONE) argument on this board that has dealt with veganism being better for fitness than other diets.
And as for the health aspect of veganism. There has not been a single study out there that I read that has effectively proven that vegans are inherently more healthy. There have been studies that have correlated the two. But the correlation of the two is often of the result of a third factor that has not been effectively controlled against.
The simplest example that I could give is from "The China Study" itself.
>Body weight, associated with animal protein intake, was associated with more cancer and more coronary heart disease. It seems that being bigger, and presumably better, comes with very high costs. (Page 102)
Note how Campbell associates body weight with cancer. Which is true. But he also associates bodyweight with animal proteins.
Now since we're all on a /fit/ness forum, I'll assume you all know how calories work. But just in case you vegans are brain damaged from your nutritional deficiencies. The over consumption of foods causes increased bodyweight. And hence when individuals over consume, they would consume more animal proteins than individuals that don't over consume.
If you're still too damaged to follow. "Animal proteins have not, and will never cause obesity"
Look up literally ANY article criticizing "The China Study" and you would find HUNDREDS of examples of incorrect mythology from self proclaimed vegetarians/vegans

>And as for the health aspect of veganism. There has not been a single study out there that I read that has effectively proven that vegans are inherently more healthy.
Cardiovascular health is an aspect of fitness, vegan diets are low in saturated fat and contain inherently zero cholesterol, dietary cholesterol and saturated fats DO raise serum cholesterol, whether you like it or not, there are tons upon tons of studies on that and the opposition studies are always flawed in design (I dare you to post a study that proves me wrong), and having high blood cholesterol is detrimental to cardiovascular health, or "fitness"
Furthermore, eating cow, chicken period and baby cow formula promotes inflammation, while eating beans instead inhibits inflammation due to antioxidant content
On the other hand, there is literally nothung inherently wrong with veganism, as long as you watch what you eat, just like with any diet.

who were these references even for! writing nerds in the 90s?
who else /swims/ here? I've been swimming >1km a day for the last two months and feel pretty good desu.
pic related is my ideal body type
I want to but I only know breaststroke and don't want to look like an autist at the pool
I would like to swim regularly but i cant even finish one pool length. I just get dead tired halfway through already.
If i havent seen other ppl swiming there i would srsly think its not humanly possible to swim that far without taking a rest.
I dont know whats wrong with me.
My much much less fit gf says swiming is like walking to her.. to me its like running a marathon at sprinting pace.
Out of all cardio, I love swimming the most. Doesn't seem to tire me that much either and 1km is very doable.
But I don't know how effective it is compared to other cardio. Anyone wanna fill this newfitfag in?
why do chinese oly lifters look so much better compared to any other nation?

I lift three times a week. Should I be going harder?
For those 25+ when did your metabolism start to slow down? I've always skated by mostly on my natural metabolism, I exercise 3 hours a week and eat decently but know I'm not super active. I used to eat like a pig when I was a kid and was underweight until 13, though I was much more active then. I'm 22 now and at 5'6 I just broke 140 for the first time in my life. Worried this is the beginning of my downhill slide.
I managed to be a 120 lbs dyel until 19 despite consistently eating more than my 300 lbs mother and her husband combined while also chugging 1 liter of soda per day. This was also in spite of a sedentary lifestyle.
Sometime around 19-20 my metabolism went through the floor and I started gaining fat. At 23 I was a 220 lbs fatass at 5'10 when I decided to change my lifestyle.
Dropped soda, cut fast food, started running, hit the gym. Sitting at a cool 170 lbs right now at 25 yrs old. Always getting remarks from old family and friends about how much better I look with some muscle. Wife wants me to go into bearmode, but Im not sure how I feel about putting fat back on. Overall, feelsgoodman.
Just put some willpower in and change up your lifestyle. Take this as your body's warning now, because the more you slide, the harder it'll get.

Think trying to manage it with just diet would be OK? I'm pretty lean like I've got muscle but it's starting to go under a layer of fat especially in my stomach and pecs. I don't drink much soda, 3 cans a week pretty consistently and maybe 5-10 beers a week. My biggest thing is honestly milk. I fucking love milk, I drink 2 or 3 gallons a week. If I cut out the soda and cut down to maybe a gallon of milk a week that'd be like 3k calories less. I don't really have much time to exercise more at the moment or in the conceivable future as I'm working 40 hours a week on top of being a full time student.

This is a CHAD board, loser!
>adjust everything so that manlets need to tip-toe on their little feet to readjust it.
assholes at my gym just throw their stuff into lockers without bothering to actually lock them
thing is they're free. not even coin operated. you close the locker and punch in a 4 digit code twice.
So to lock it with "1234" you'd just close the lock and punch in "12341234".
I'm not a thieving scumbag but these peoples pure laziness triggers the fuck out of me so now if I open a locker and it has stuff in it I'll close it and punch in some random code so when they get back they have to go down to reception and get them to unlock it.
